This auction is for my 1970 Dodge Challenger. It is not a numbers matching vehicle. It was a real R/T SE 383 Rallye Red 4 speed car but was missing the drive train and most of the floor due to rust and had been hit in the rear. I used 2 parts cars along with this one to build what you see here. It now has a 440 six pack with 727 torque flyte transmission with 3.23 sure grip rear end. The engine is a 1975 vintage 440 that was built by Wheeler Racing Engines in Blaine Minn. It is built to stock specs and runs well on pump premium gas. It produced 392 HP @4600 RPM and 485 ft lbs of torque at 3800 RPM on the dyno. The 727 was built using the Hemi sprag and planetary gear along with a shift kit and 3400 rpm stall converter. It was finished in 1999 and was driven to the Mopar Nationals where it made two high 13 second passes down the 1320 at around 100mph. It has not been raced since then. It has been a show pooch and driven about 14,000 miles since being restified and has received many 1st & 2nd place awards over the years and still shows well. It received "Best Muscle Car" award at it's only outing in 2013. Many NOS & new re production parts and upgrades went into this restification such as all Polyurethane suspension bushings, 1" front sway bar and High performance rear leaf springs and factory rear sway bar. It was upgraded to front disc brakes from a 74 Challenger with all new brake lines, cylinders and hoses. The fuel lines were upgraded to 3/8 & 1/4" return lines along with fuel sender and new tank. New vinyl roof, new leather seat upholstery, carpeting from Legendary and Year one suppliers. Dash pad was rebuilt by Just Dashes. No one was re producing the SE headliner so I opted for the bowed headliner without the overhead console. There are a couple other SE factory parts that did not make it back on this car. The rear aluminum panel was not salvageable and I opted for the black paint in place of the argent silver painted panel. and the grille and headlight bezels were powder coated in satin black as well. Also eliminated was the bright trim under the front bumper. All of the emblems and stainless are either new or restored. The radiator was rebuilt by GlenRay radiators using the best core available. The engine, alternator, water pump and power steering pump pulleys were replaced with March Pulleys and serpentine belt. Other upgrades were to the radio that was replaced by a Sony CD player unit and has the highly desired 3 speaker dash that not many of these cars had back in the day. Also a rear mounted power antenna was installed. The pistol grip gunslinger shifter and Mr Norm dealership sticker was another personal addition. This car is not an original Mr Norm car. I am sure I missed a few items but wanted any potential buyers to not be miss lead.
I have enjoyed this car and hate to see it go but my wife wants a 68 Bullitt Charger clone and I need to keep the peace along with needing the garage space and the money to enable that project. I have a $30K reserve that is much less that I have invested but I have had more than a decade of enjoyment with it that has to be worth something. I reserve the right to end this auction early as it is for sale locally.
This car had been appraised a few years ago at 35K for insurance reasons and I believe it to be in the #2 category. "Old Cars Buyers Guide" shows a #2 Challenger at around $36,000.00 with add 75% for 440 six pack. If this car was a real numbers matching 440 six pack car it would be a 50K trailer queen and not something you could drive and enjoy. They are only worth what someone else will pay so you be the judge.
Winning bidder must make arrangement for payment and pick up within 10 days of end of auction. The title will be turned over the to buyer upon meeting these requirements.
Thanks for the interest.

2015 Dodge Viper getting small increase in power
Tue, 29 Jul 2014The Viper is used to being the most powerful car in the Dodge and SRT stables, but the arrival of the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat means that's no longer the case. The serpentine supercar is, however, reportedly getting a small boost in output for 2015, amounting to all of five horsepower.
The increase was uncovered by Road & Track courtesy of the SAE J1349 certification process to which Detroit's Big Three automakers submit themselves and which reports the Viper's output at 645 hp instead of the 640 it was rated at until now. There are a hundred factors that could have contributed to the relatively mild boost in output (best guess? nothing at all changed...), but we doubt anyone's going to complain about some extra horses under the hood.
The five-horsepower boost brings the Viper that much closer to the 650-hp Chevy Corvette Z06, not to mention the 707-hp Hellcat, but the Viper's impressive power-to-weight ratio ought to mean it'll have little problem keeping up in a straight line - which is just one of the reasons why Chrysler won't shoe-horn the Hellcat into the Viper: as R&T points out, the supercharged engine is too heavy and the blower makes it too tall to fit in the Viper's engine bay.
2013 Dodge Dart GT offers subtle menace in compact form
Mon, 14 Jan 2013Dodge has already shared all of the relevant information about its all-new 2013 Dart GT, but it wasn't until now that we've seen the car, live and in person. The slightly meaner front fascia and bigger wheels look great on the Dodge, and the red-on-black perforated seats are sporting in an aftermarket sort of way.
To recap: The Dart GT also gets a bit more power, using a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine to make 184 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. A starting price of $20,995 will get you LED taillights, dual exhaust, an 8.4-inch touchscreen and a 7.0-inch TFT display.
Feel free to re-acquaint yourselves with the full Dodge Dart GT information in the press release below, or have a leisurely browse through our gallery of live images.
FCA goes all-in on Jeep and Ram brands on cheap gas bet
Wed, Jan 27 2016It's no surprise that as SUV and truck sales remain strong in the wake of unusually cheap gas, Jeep and Ram sales are taking off. What is a surprise is that FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne thinks that cheap gas will be a "permanent condition," and feels strongly enough about it to change up North American manufacturing plans. Jeep appears to be the biggest beneficiary of the product realignment. In addition to increasing the sales estimates for the brand worldwide upwards to 2 million units a year by 2018, the brand will get a flood of investment for new product and powertrains. Consider the Wrangler Pickup to be part of the salvo, as well as the Grand Wagoneer three-row announced in 2014 as part of the original five-year plan. The Wrangler four-door will get at least two new powertrains, a diesel and mild hybrid version, in its next generation. That mild hybrid powertrain may utilize a 48-volt electrical system like the one that's being developed by Delphi and Bosch – which the suppliers think will be worth a 10 to 15 percent fuel economy gain at a minimum. Down the road, in the 2020s, the Wrangler could adopt a full hybrid system. The diesel powertrain is planned for 2019 or 2020. The Ram 1500 is also pegged to receive a mild hybrid system, again potentially based on 48-volt architecture, sometime after 2020. Lastly, Jeep and Ram will take over some of the production capacity of existing plants. The Sterling Heights, MI, plant that builds the Chrysler 200 will now build the Ram 1500; the Belvidere, IL, facility that produces the Dodge Dart will take over Cherokee output; the big Jeep facility in Toledo, OH, will be used for increased Wrangler demand. In 2015, according to FCA's numbers, car and van demand went down by 10 percent, but SUV demand went up 8 percent and truck demand 2 percent. Considering that these are high-margin vehicles, FCA can't ignore the math. FCA also won't build any new factories to supplement production to meet demand, but instead are reshuffling production priorities. Think of it this way: FCA is gambling on cheap gas being a permanent part of our lives, at least into the 2020s. By doubling down on SUVs and trucks, the company stands to win big, unless a spike in gas prices changes the landscape. FCA isn't talking about a Plan B, so they're all in. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
