2009 Dodge Challenger Rt 5.7 Hemi on 2040-cars
Lincoln University, Pennsylvania, United States
GREAT CAR IN GREAT CONDITION. All mileage is highway. I drove this car 150 miles up and back the length of the NJ turnpike (300miles) every day for 3 years, I was the only one riding in it and never raced or even drove crazy in it. It cruised at 2000 rpm most of the time. I changed the oil every 8 to 10000 miles using Castrol full synthetic titanium and a K&G filter. A cigarette has never been smoked in it. There is no body or interior damage. This was my company car and I bought it from them when I left. The car is on it's 2nd pair of brakes and 3rd pair of tires. At 125,000 miles the timing chain broke due to a faulty tensioner. The engine was partially rebuilt At 125,000 miles by Chrysler under their lifetime power train warranty. So you could say it has 106,000 on the rebuilt engine. The car runs perfectly and shows no signs of letting up. It just passed PA inspection with no issues (not even wiper blades) and the emissions were clean. Pa inspection checks all safety components: Ball joints, wheel bearings, brakes , tires , lights exhaust and catalytic converters etc. This car is worth a lot to me and I really hate selling it. I have priced for a quick easy sale because of the milage and any nit picky things that come up. I have honestly disclosed everything I know about the car. I am at my lowest price so serious inquires only. If you do not think the car is worth 15200.00 do not consider it or try to tell me why I should take less. The difference in price between a comparably equipped one in comparable condition is between 8k to 10k. If you are looking for a Challanger RT fully equipped at a price less than one with a cloth interior, 6 cylinder motor and 16" wheels this is it. It runs great and has a long way to go. I am willing to negotiate price in exchange for a quick and clean transaction. |

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner
Sat, 24 Aug 2013For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"
40+ cars that barely avoid the gas guzzler tax
Thu, 24 Jul 2014
The Gas Guzzler schedule, with mpg ratings and charges that haven't changed since 1991, lays out which fuel-swillers owe what to Uncle Sam.
I started thinking about the "Gas Guzzler Tax" - considerably less well known as The Energy Tax Act of 1978 - when I was driving Dodge's new Challenger SRT Hellcat last week. Unsurprisingly for a car that can burn 1.5 gallons of gas per minute at max tilt, theoretically able to empty a full tank of premium in about 13 minutes, the Hellcat will be subject to the Gas Guzzler Tax schedule when it goes on sale.
I sold my Viper, but the memories I'll keep
Thu, 30 May 2013The following is written by auto industry veteran Tow Kowaleski. The words are his own, but the memories now belong to everyone thanks to his willingness to share. If you're an industry veteran with a story to share, contact us at tipsATautoblogDOTcom.
It became the flame that started the fire of belief in the next life of Chrysler.
I just sold a car. Nothing new. Millions do it every day. But my car was a 1995 Dodge Viper, so maybe it was a bit more unique since just 12,000 were built. And like others selling a car that's been a part of the family for close to 20 years, this was a confluence of emotions for me. I was sad to see it go, but happy to have the cash and one less big, shiny, under-utilized object in my life.
