I bought it from a well known local collector as a project. The car was allready torn down. The miles are said to be actual. The car was bought new by a man who simply didn't use it much and then went to his son who was going to restore it and tore it down and that is is far as it got. That was many years ago. He sold it to the collector I bought it from. I have owned the car approx. 6 years. I was building my dream car and had no intentions of it being stock so some of the original pieces (mostly underhood parts) will be missing. The car is mostly complete and there are many many extra parts you don't need that go with this auction. I am tring to sell everything at once. If that does not work, I will sell car with stock stuff and seperate the high performance performance parts. Basicly, I am cleaning my garage of all my E body parts. Here it goes."

1974 Dodge Challenger Rally Stroker project. Original 24,000 mile 318 car with 500 CID stroker 550 horsepower pump gas street motor. Before me, this car was owned by 1 family. EXTERIOR: The body is all original panels with the exception of the trunk floor and rear quarter patch panels and extensions.  Original floor pans are excellent and underside is in wonderful condition. Needs body work and paint. It has been stored indoors most of its life and in a heated garage last 6 years. I was planning on painting it black and the engine compartment has been painted allready. Rally hood. Have all exterior trim and some pieces are NOS. 2 front fiberglass header panels. Grill (2) are mint also excellent bumper filler pieces. Excellent original bumpers both front and rear.  Valances are in great condition. Glass is all good but may be missing 1 of the door glasses. Rear light lenses are excellent. Has a go wing and another trunk lid is included in auction. The trunk lid is 100% rust free and nice. Both front fenders and hood are good but do show somwe rust. INTERIOR: Very very nice. Rally dash is in excellent condition, NO CRACKS. all ready to go. The guages are in excellent condition. The needles were painted to brighten them up and the lens polished. All plastic is pretty much perfect. I have had a number of challengers and this car was being built for myself. If there was a flaw, it was replaced, so the console, door panels, rear sail panels and all the dash parts are nice. Locks rechromed. Visors perfect and rearview mirror detailed. I am including some overhead console parts as I was going to install one and a rear defogger motor.(N/A 1974) Brake and gas pedals have been painted and detailed. Factory AM radio is excellent as the knobs. You will need to buy carpet and headliner other than that nothing else appears missing. All the window crank handles have excellent chrome. Other than that the interior should be done. The seats are in excellent original condition. They are soft, clean, and ready to use. Some imperfections on the driverside seat (minor) but nothing needs replaced. Also the 3 spoke steering wheel in picture has been replaced with the excellent original 2 spoke. DRIVELINE: This Auction includes 2 fresh unfired engines. The 493 cost approx 8500.00 ALONE! The numbers matching original 318 I had gone through. The machinest said he had no problem believing the motor only had 24k. Anyways I had him go through and put bearings rings etc. and rebuild the motor to stock specs so if a guy wanted to redo the car to stock specs, that one is fresh, 230 horsepower and ready to go. The motor I planned on putting in it is a 1970 440  now a 493 CID stroker motor. Complete long block. Intake to pan. Built by reputable speed shop. I have the build sheet. It should produce over 500 ft/lb torque and around 550 horsepower give or take 10%. Edelbrock ALUMINUM heads, roller rockers, etc etc etc. NO corners cut. Built to run on pump gas, sit in traffic and actually use during the week but be able to run 11 second quarter miles on the weekend. I have over 8000.00 in motor alone. Transmission was rebuilt and I used it in a 1969 Coronet R/T 440 6 pack. Has very little use. manual valve body, reverse pattern, shift kit etc. Expensive Hi stall converter. Also have the original numbers tranny (I think iots a 904) Comes with 2 -8 3/4 rear ends. The stock one and I was putting reinforced a body (narrower) with hanger relocation kit. Rear axle is beautiful painted heavy on the glitter! 3 inch studs, green bearings etc. 355 posi, 489 case. Also New leaf springs. I could write for hours and hours. SERIOUS BUYERS ALLWAYS CALL. Please do. I will answer any questions you may have. There are many parts that go with the car that were not ness to its restoration but my garage is losing all E body stuff I have. There is another set of seats, a dash, a complete front suspension.  I am hoping to sell this car to someone going the resto mod route that can use everything sell whats extra or build another. If the car does not bring what I need to sell I will be listing the car as a stock project and seperateing the 500, and tranny as that is a large chunk of the pie. Also I am including multipule wiring harnesses. Think of it like one of those models you had when you were a kid. the kit came with both stock and Hi-per versions. You decide!! I have had 450 transactions on ebay and 1 bad buyer that has affected my feedback. It is bound to happen sooner or later but I want to reassure buyer.  I have had 100% positive feedback for 10 years.  I will assist any way I can in shipping. I will sell car less motor (500) and trans (727) for 8900.00

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.

2023 Grand National Roadster Show Mega Photo Gallery | Hot rod heaven

Wed, Feb 8 2023

POMONA, Calif. — From an outsider's perspective, it would be easy to assume that the Grand National Roadster Show has always been a Southern California institution. After all, it celebrates the diverse postwar car culture of the region — hot rods, lead sleds, lowriders, and more. However, the show had its roots in NorCal in 1950 when Al Slonaker and his hot rod club showed their custom cars at the Oakland Expo. The GNRS moved to Pomona, California, in 2004. By then it had grown exponentially and seen about a dozen more car customization trends come and go. However, the show and its centerpiece award, the America's Most Beautiful Roadster prize, celebrate what is perhaps the first of those trends: the American hot rod in its purest form. Today, in its 73rd year, the GNRS is the oldest indoor car show in America. Annually it welcomes 500-800 cars, gathered into special themes like Tri-Five Chevys or Volkswagen Bugs. At this year's show, which was last weekend, a special hall was dedicated to pickup trucks built between 1948-98, including mini-trucks, groovy camper bed conversions, and resto-mods.  However, of all the vehicles presented, only nine are eligible for the America's Most Beautiful Roadster award. Winners get their names engraved on a 9-foot-tall perpetual trophy that was, according to The Ultimate Hot Rod Dictionary, the largest in the world when it debuted in 1950. Slonaker chose the word "roadster" initially because "hot rod" bore slightly negative outlaw connotations in 1950. Only American cars built before 1937 of certain body styles — roadsters, roadster pickups, phaetons, touring cars — are eligible, and they cannot have roll-down side windows.  Cars in the running for the cup cannot have been shown anywhere else before their debut at the GNRS.  Contestants for this accolade essentially build their cars to the a platonic ideal of a hot rod. This year the honors went to Jack Chisenhall of San Antonio, Texas, for his "Champ Deuce," a 1932 Ford Roadster. It's exactly what you picture when you think of a hot rod, but distilled to its absolute essence.  Other standouts included "Green Eyes," a two-tone green 1959 Chevy El Camino  with a heavily metal-flaked bed, "Blue Monday," a 1964 Buick Riviera lowrider, and a personal favorite, "Purple Reign," a purple and black 1951 Mercury. Cars may have started out as tools, but there aren't shows like this filled with custom refrigerators.

SRT back to Dodge, Dart SRT, new Challenger, Charger and Caravan's death outlined in 5-yr plan

Tue, 06 May 2014

The onslaught of news from Fiat Chrysler's layout of five-year plans continued with Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis this morning, including the unexpected announcement that SRT was coming back into the fold.
After just a few years existing as an independent entity within the Fiat Chrysler universe, an unceremonious press release hit in conjunction with today's lineup of announcements, saying "the SRT family of vehicles will be consolidated under the Dodge brand." Group CEO Sergio Marchionne thanked SRT headman Ralph Gilles for his dedication to the high-performance wing, calling out is efforts in expanding the vehicle lineup and including more customized models. He did not reference disappointing SRT Viper sales today, but we sense there's a bit of subtext.
With the SRT reunion at Dodge, it's appropriate that some of the most exciting product announcements for the next five years have to do with upcoming performance products. First out of the gate will be a refresh for that flagging Viper in 2015, which comes as little surprise.
