Factory original 1973 Dodge Challenger factory 318 with a 3 speed stick. Came from the factory with this drive train. It has always been in So. California since new. It has been sitting in storage for the past 13 years. Several months ago I pulled it out and began to get it back on the road. I replace the gas tank and sending unit, front water pump housing, and pump. All the hoses and belts, Restored the heater box and new core, Installed a new Carb and air cleaner and new master cylinder. It is back on the road and running and driving great. I have been using it as a go around town driver and it is very reliable. The motor has been updated to have a 4 barrel carb and vintage aluminum intake. The cam has been changed at some point in its life along with the timing chain and head rebuild. Runs really nice.

The car original came in the colors of silver with blue interior. That is a very unusual color combo but wasn't liked by the previous owner. It was converted over to the color you see in the pictures. It has very little options except an 8 3/4 rear-end and disk brakes. It has no power options except whats in your arms. all the brake have been checked and are in good working order. All the lights are in good working order. Everything works except the reverse light. The speedo works great but starts at 20mph for some reason. the interior in good shape. The seats are clean with no rips and still soft. The covers are not original material but have the original style look. The carpet has been replaced and is good shape. The rear top of the seat is probably getting a little hard from sitting in the sun but not bad. The plastic door panels are very clean original but will need the window weather strip to be changed. the interior dash has had a professional dash cap installed and looks real nice. Not much will need to be done to the interior.
The paint is older and faded out. It is the third paint job. the first being silver, then red and then the blue you see on the car. the car is straight with not much bondo that can be seen. I do know the front driver fender has had work done to it and will need some attention when the car is repainted. Its not a disaster but needs some love. the rest of the panels are nice and straight with no visual work being done to them. The trunk is solid with some surface rust but no rot. The rust I can see coming thru is both lower quarters just in front of the tires on both sides. I can only see bubbling thru the paint. The outside chrome will need to be done to be nice. It is the original to the car and is fading. The other trim is nice and original with standard scratches and dings but very usable.
the motor and trans are the numbers match to the car if anyone is interested in that. Not even sure if it has been out of the car since new. doesn't smoke or anything like that. It's a real good driver that needs a little cosmetics but over all a great car that can have a 4spd installed real easy. The exhaust system is fresh with Dynomax mufflers. sounds good. I just bought another challenger and this one needs to go at this time. Call Scott for any questions 760-559-5103

California Highway Patrol powers up with Charger Pursuits

Fri, Jul 22 2016

Residents of California, you'll want to adjust your rear-view mirrors and remain vigilant for the menacing maw of the Dodge Charger. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) ordered 580 Dodge Charger Pursuit cars to start replacing the organization's oldest vehicles. According to the CHP's director of communications, Fran Clader, these old cars are patrol versions of the Ford Crown Victoria, Ford Explorer and Dodge Charger. The cars will be delivered over the next two years with the majority equipped with Fiat Chrysler's 3.6-liter V6 engine. The unit makes 292 horsepower in the Charger and is found in everything from the Jeep Wrangler to the Chrysler 200. There will be a handful of Chargers with the 5.7-liter V8 found in the Charger R/T, but Dodge and Clader said they will just be used for training. Bick Pratt, head of FCA US government sales and operations, said the order represents a move back toward four-door police cars. "The CHP is ordering our Charger Pursuit vehicle to reintroduce the sedan into their patrol vehicle fleet," Pratt said. "That's important to us because it reflects a shift back to sedans by a progressive agency like the CHP." Chargers may show up in local law enforcement fleets. Pratt said departments will have the opportunity to also order Charger Pursuits through the CHP's contract. So wherever you are in California, if you see that famous crosshair grille in your rear-view mirror, be ready to pull over. Related video:

Chrysler's next-gen minivans will get more expensive

Mon, Feb 2 2015

Chrysler introduced the value-oriented Great American Package on the base model Chrysler 300 in 2005. That morphed into the American Value Package available as an option on the Dodge Grand Caravan in 2012, which made it the lowest-priced minivan in the country, now with an MSRP of $21,395. Automotive News reports that Chrysler is going to kill the value package when the new Town & Country arrives for 2017, because the new platform and technology of the coming minivan make it "a difficult price point to get to." AN says the next-generation haulers will come in around $26,000 and can go beyond $45,000 with options; clicking every "Add" button we could find on the Town & Country build page, we couldn't get past $43,000 for today's model. That entry pricing in 2017 would eliminate the first three trims on the Dodge option, the American Value Package, the SE that starts at $24,195, and the SE Plus that starts at $24,995. This makes us think the next-generation haulers will take a sizable step upscale in terms of feel, content, and trim, a la the Chrysler 200. In this writer's opinion, if they do as good a job as they've been doing recently, the extra money will be worth it. There have been spy shots and a lot of rumors about it, like the Caravan minivan going away and becoming a crossover, but we'll see it revealed at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. Man hits 153 mph on I-75 in Dodge Magnum

Tue, May 19 2015

A man driving in Michigan took his 2005 Dodge Magnum practically to the limit in the wee hours of the morning on May 19 when the Michigan State Police caught him on radar going 153 miles per hour on Interstate 75 near Detroit. The 21-year-old driver was spotted around 3:00 AM, according to The Detroit News. Michigan State Police First Lieutenant Michael Shaw told Autoblog that officers initially saw the man on radar doing 79 mph in a 70-mph-zone, and they started following him. He eventually clocked 153 mph. However, First Lt. Shaw was clear that there was never a pursuit. "Speeding isn't necessarily a reason to put the public at risk," he said. The situation ended rather abruptly, though. The driver pulled off the interstate and behind a building. He remained in the vehicle, and police arrived and arrested him. According to First Lt. Shaw, the man was driving home from work and alcohol wasn't a factor. The Magnum has been impounded, and the driver was charged with reckless driving. Unfortunately, First Lt. Shaw said that he didn't know what engine was in the wagon, but as enthusiasts, we're curious. After all, the 2005 Magnum RT was governed to 130 mph and the SRT8 wasn't unleashed until 2006, which means either the wagon must've been derestricted to hit such high speeds or that police have the year wrong. We'll let you know if we figure that one out...
