Hi and thanks for looking. This is a great and original 1970 RT SE 440 U code Challenger. I am the third owner. The first owner from Washington State drove it from 1970-1981 and put on 53000 miles on it when he sold it to another gentleman in eastern Oregon where it sat in his personal from 1981-2004. I bought it in 2004 and it has sat in my heated garage since then and it now has 53700 miles so it has sat about 33 years. The good thing about that is it has not gotten all beat up over the years but the bad is everything leaked from drying out gaskets. So last year I started going through everything starting with the original engine. I sent it to a speed shop in Phoenix that does a lot of Mopar engines and had it baked ,tumbled, bored out with new pistons, rings, new purple 484 lift Mopar cam and lifters. The complete assembly was then balanced plus all new cam,rod and main Clevette 77 bearings and Melling high volume oil pump. The 906 heads were completely gone through with hardened seats and new springs, keepers etc. Also had the original Carter AVS carb rebuilt. The motor runs great. Next I had the 727 automatic rebuilt with a shift kit and new torque converter and it shifts great. Next I had the original rear end taken out and cleaned and resealed. It has the 489 case and Sur-Grip (Positrac) with the 3.55 gears. I then put new shocks painted black just like the originals were. I then put in a new exhaust system just like the original I took out with the resonators and all. The tips are the original ones. I also put in a new gas tank and straps. I had the power steering box rebuilt the power steering pump rebuilt using the original casing. Then went through the entire AC system with rebuilt pump, new drier, new condenser,NOS heater valve, new heater core and had the evaporator cleaned and checked.also rebuilt the ac heater box with new foam kit and it looks great. Inside the car is almost all original except for the new Legendary seat covers and foam that matched the original I took out. I still have the original seat covers that go with the car. The upholsterer through away the drivers seat because it had a tear in the seam but you get all I have. I also put in new carpet from Legendary but have the old if you want it as it was kind of faded. I also put in new door sills but everything else is original like the headliner door panels, kick panels, console, dash, rim blow steering wheel which I had redone by Mopar wheels in Arizona and they did a great job and the horn works great. The dash has never been out and all the gauges work fine but the clock only works about half of the time. It also has a thumbwheel AM FM radio that works. This car has 2 fender tags. I forgot to say I also put on a new Legendary Vinyl top as the old one was a little faded at the bottom. Also the original buzzer for the key and if you leave the lights on still works fine. So here is a super nice and original 1970 R/T SE 440 U code with original paint and motor and almost everything else. I have driven this car about 370 miles in the last month and it is a blast which is 370 miles farther than it has been driven in the last 35 years. If I have forgot something you can call me at 208 863 1430 my name is Doug. I am very realistic on the price for such a nice car. I am selling it because my daughter is getting her license and so there will be no room for this classic at my shop or home. I may be interested in a newer VW beatle conv, or a newer VW Jetta as partial trade. Thanks

I forgot to mention the windshield has been replaced a long time ago and it is tinted and all the other windows a factory tinted original and look brand new. Also the original dash does have a small crack in it by the center speaker.

The biggest gas-guzzlers of 2024: 'The Meanest List' is the opposite of greenest cars
Thu, Mar 14 2024In some circles — especially some automotive circles — bigger is better. This explains the Hummer, for example. In its so-called “Meanest List” of a dozen models, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) makes no apologies for berating “the worst-performing mass market automobiles” sold in 2024 in the U.S. The most diminutive car on the list is a Chevy Corvette Z06. At the top of this particular heap is the Mercedes-Benz AMG G63, a gas-powered SUV that the environmental agency says was “the worst-performing vehicle of the more than 1,200 models assessed by Greener Cars and has an annual fuel cost over $4,000.” Not to mention its MSRP of around $184,000. Rank Make & Model Powertrain Green Score MSRP Estimated Annual Fuel Cost* 1 Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 Gas 20 $184,000 $4,242 2 Ram 1500 TRX 4x4 Gas 22 $98,335 $3,819 3 Ford F150 Raptor R Gas 24 $79,975 $3,777 4 Cadillac Escalade V Gas 26 $152,295 $3,388 5 Dodge Durango SRT Gas 26 $74,995 $3,332 6 Jeep Wrangler 4dr 4X4 Gas 27 $35,895 $3,260 7 Jeep Grand Wagoneer 4x4 Gas 28 $91,945 $3,058 8 Mercedes-Benz G550 Gas 28 $143,000 $3,186 9 GMC Hummer EV SUV EV 29 $98,845 $1,746 10 GMC Sierra Gas 29 $37,700 $3,069 11 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Gas 30 $114,395 $3,169 12 Mercedes-Benz Maybach S680 Gas 30 $234,300 $3,031 *ACEEE analysis using EIA data of the annual cost of driving 15,000 miles In terms of numbers, the dirty dozen of the meanest includes seven SUVs and three trucks. Lonely at the middle of the list is the sole electric, the GMC Hummer EV, which weighs in at 9,000 pounds. The council notes that “though EVs have lower emissions than similarly sized gasoline models, the Hummer demonstrates that size and efficiency, not just fuel source, are important factors in a carÂ’s environmental impact.” ItÂ’s also worth reminding prospective buyers that the average fuel cost of a vehicle on the “Greenest List” eats up only a fifth of the fuel cost of a vehicle on the Meanest List, “showing that greener options can also be more affordable.” The ACEEE also put out a "Greener List" of efficient gasoline and hybrid cars that don't require plugging in. By the Numbers Green Cadillac Chevrolet Dodge Ford GMC Hummer Jeep Maybach Mercedes-Benz RAM Emissions Fuel Efficiency Green Automakers Truck SUV Electric Hybrid
The last time Dodge recycled the Demon name, it was for a Miata fighter
Fri, Jan 20 2017We and the rest of the automotive world are eagerly awaiting the reveal of the Dodge Challenger Demon. And why wouldn't we be? It's going to be a Hellcat, but with less weight, bigger fenders, more performance, and more Vin Diesel. This isn't the first time we've been excited about a Demon from Dodge, though. Ten years ago, Dodge had another demonic car, but it was very different from the new one. The Demon of 2007 was a lithe little roadster that looked primed and ready to take on the Miata, as well as the now-departed Solstice and Sky twins. The Demon was just under an inch shorter than the MX-5 and the Solstice, and it packed a 172 horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder that fell right between the Miata's 170 and the Solstice's 177 outputs. Dodge's estimated the curb weight, which for a concept is largely theoretical, also slotted between the two cars at 2600 pounds. That was about 150 more than the Mazda, and about 200 less than the Pontiac. The pitch perfect specifications were presented in a crisp two-seat roadster wrapper. In many ways, it looked like a baby Viper, with a menacing crosshair grille, slanted headlights, and fat rear fenders. The Demon's line's were brutally simple and geometric, too. They didn't seem far removed from the first-generation Audi TT. The interior was also plain and simple. The key highlights were a horizontal aluminum accent that ran the width of the dash, echoed by an aluminum-covered center console. The instrument cluster was uncluttered, with just four gauges, and the only controls were some climate knobs, a double-DIN head unit, and a six-speed manual. It turns out that the 2007 Demon didn't drive very well, though. You see, we actually drove this concept back in the day, and like many concepts, it still had a long way to go to be production ready. The gearbox would grind, the ride quality was terrible. However, the interior was roomy, and the engine sounded suitably grumbly, if a bit coarse. At the time, we said Dodge should absolutely build the little roadster. In retrospect, the company probably made the right decision not to invest in the Demon. The small rear drive sports car segment was, and still is, an extremely niche market. It would have been a big investment for little return, something FCA today is trying to avoid. This is all before taking into account the fact that the recession was just around the corner. In the end, we can't be too sad though.
