1970 Dodge Challenger Convertible #'s Matching Beautiful Rare on 2040-cars
Pascoag, Rhode Island, United States
Rare Dodge Challenger Convertible Slant 6. Car is in excellent condition. I have too many classics and need to make some room. This car is too nice not to be driven or shown. I had a full restoration done on this car about 2 years ago and I'm lucky if I drove it 20 miles. I pulled it out to check everything and all checks out fine. The only thing I noticed was the snaps that mount to rear panel that top boot cover snaps to are in a bag in the trunk and not installed. I never noticed after restoration because I never put the top down. There is also a little staining on intake manifold under air cleaner where some gas leaked when engine was installed. This Challenger has a matching numbers drive train. I forgot where the numbers were so didn't take picture but I can guarantee that they are all there and match as I witnessed all numbers during restoration to make sure (radiator support, cowl, engine, transmission, rear end, all match). The car is restored to what it was when new. When I bought it the car was still wearing it's original paint. The only questionable thing is the bumble bee stripe. The fender tag does not call for it but as I said the car had it's original paint and the stripe was on it painted the way they did back in 1970, so I figured either the dealership added the stripe or the factory. I saved the original trunk lid with stripe for anyone who wanted to check. This car was found in a barn in southern Rhode Island. The car had not seen the road since the 70's. I paid someone a finders fee and 20k for the car and then sent it to the restoration shop for a rotisserie nut and bolt restoration. Fender Tag Decodes As Follows: E24= 225 1 Barrel 6 Cylinder D31= 904 Automatic TorqueFlite Transmission JH27= Dodge Challenger, High Price Class, Convertible COB= 225 1-BBL 6 CYL, 1970, Dodge Main, Hamtramck, MI, USA 111493= Sequence # FE5= Rallye Red H6E4= High Class, Vinyl Bucket Seats, Red 000= Upper Door Frame, Full Door Panel 829= Build Date 8/29/1969 120657= Order # V3X= Black Convertible Top AO4= Basic Radio Group C55= Bucket Seats G33= Left Hand Outside Mirror/ Chrome P37= Power Convertible Top R11= Music Master Radio AM YO5= Built To U.S. Specs EN1= End Of Codes Dodge produced 378 Challenger Slant 6's. There are very few left, especially full matching numbers. Most people pulled out the slant engines and put a big block in the car since all convertibles were set up with torque boxes to receive all engines. When was the last time you saw one with full matching drive train? I have a Hemi clone convertible and this Slant car get's all the attention. It's just refreshing to see a car that is what it was and nothing more. There was a write up in Hemmings about a similar car from Massachusetts that had similar options but engine was not matching, it was also featured in Mopar Magazine, I believe. In any case a refreshing original change. I know how hard it can be to buy a car on the internet. I have bought many from honest sellers and 1 from a not so honest seller. I will answer any questions and invite you to view the car for inspection. If you need to fly in to view, I can assist. Thank You For Viewing, Dave, 401-641-1592 On Sep-07-14 at 19:15:46 PDT, seller added the following information: Rhode Island is a Non Title State. Car is sold with bill of sale. |

2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad
Thu, 17 Jul 2014Watchers of the auto industry will notice a theme among the formerly bankrupted American automakers, General Motors and Chrysler. There are the post-bankruptcy vehicles, and the pre-bankruptcy vehicles. The former, in the case of Chrysler, include the Jeep Grand Cherokee, as well as the 200 and 300. For GM, there's the Cadillac ATS, Chevrolet Impala and Buick Encore, among others. These vehicles have the freshest styling, with sharp exteriors and well-crafted interiors, as well as advanced powertrains and well-sorted chassis.
As for the pre-bankruptcy vehicles, they tend to be easy to spot. Most suffer from inferior driving dynamics, cheaper interiors, poorer fuel economy and often homely looks (we know, there were some decent cars before the bankruptcy, but they were pretty heavily outweighed by the bad ones). Think late, last-generation Chevrolet Impala or Chrysler 200. Increasingly, though, we're seeing vehicles that split the balance between pre- and post-bankruptcy. Vehicles like the Dodge Journey.
The Journey debuted in 2007 as a 2008 model year vehicle, meaning it should fall into the latter category. But heavily breathed upon in 2011, it now enjoys a new, 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, a big, critically acclaimed touchscreen display and in the case of today's tester, a new-for-2014 Crossroad spec.

Gauging reaction to the 2015 Dodge Charger Pursuit on Detroit highways
Sat, Feb 7 2015Steven Ewing and I kind of pretended to be cops a few weeks ago. No, not in the illegal way; we just took turns driving the 2015 Dodge Charger Pursuit around Detroit and its suburbs, learning invaluable life lessons along the way. A lot of those lessons came in the form of weird reactions from other drivers. Steve peeved his neighbors by surprising them in the parking lot, I can damn close to sitting in jail next to a murderer and we both caught our fair share of evil-eyed glances. One of my very first observations was a pronounced "bubble effect" when driving in traffic on the highway. Attempting to recreate the effect for the video camera, I grabbed Senior Producer Chris McGraw and we went for a ride in the name of pseudo psychology. The results weren't exactly as we'd predicted, but we had fun all the same. Get one more dose of your cop car fix, above.
