Do you like to street race?

Do you like the feeling of revving your engine at a stop light and squeezing the steering so hard that your knuckles go white?

How about channeling your inner Paul Walker as you e-brake turn right through the Buckhead on your way to the Ivy... If you're unfamiliar with atlanta, forgive me.

Well, if that's you this car certainly isn't. This car projects you as a responsible adult. It says you like American muscle but you're also practical and understand that you're far too old to be living your life "one 1/4 mile at a time". This car says you have a great deal of Patriotism and support for the American way, but that you're not about to waste your time, gas or anybody else's safety trying to prove that you're billy bad ass.

Upon first glance of this quintessential piece of American engineering you'll notice several nice customizations. You'll see a fantastic contrast in the premier metallic paint with the beautiful black rims. They're wrapped in some fancy run flat tire that is supposed to make the car ride smoother and grip the road better. My dad always said to spend money on the things that come between me and the ground... That's why I have immaculate taste shoes, I never skimp on crappy off brand tires, and I have a budget set aside just for sheets that make me sleep like a baby.

I digress, but the car gets even better when you fall into the driver seat and notice you're not getting beat down by the sun. It's hot as hell in the south but thanks to the UV protecting deep tint and an automatic dual climate controlled environment you'll be cool as the other side of my restoration hardware pillow. Besides worrying about SPF while you're cruising the open road is unAmerican. Thank God that's not an issue here.

Back to interior... Sink right into that perfectly upholstered seat and you'll find there is a certain satisfaction once you turn the key and witness the subtle growl of over 300 ponies. Yes that's right, and those ponies come from a v6 power plant and it's more than capable. You should enjoy knowing that you could dust most of the common cars out on the road but revel more in the fact that you're mature enough not to. It's like the car version of an upscale tuxedo t-shirt. It reads, I have a cool fast car but I'm not dumb enough to wrap it around a light pole.

See I'm assuming you're secure enough in yourself that you don't need to waste your money for the negligible power gain and decreased efficiency that the V8 brings. You're flooded with testosterone and everyone gets it. If the V6 is an issue I have a question... well really several questions: What are two cylinders going to prove and who are you trying to impress with a less efficient machine? I've got news for you man, chicks dig the smart guy... And driving a V8 with Obama and his gas prices just isn't going to cut it. I'm not pointing fingers, but you don't have truck nuts do you?

Yeah, this car is plenty fast and it's been meticulously maintained. It's got a perfect title, never been in an accident and it's going to turn as many heads as Kate Upton's Terry Richardson shoot...Do yourself a favor and google it if you haven't already. Okay slight exaggeration, well huge exaggeration. None the less you'll notice as your right foot gets heavy on the gas pedal there is plenty of linear acceleration, angular momentum, g force and whatever else you want to feel.

You'll also notice that as you see red lights and have to apply the brakes you'll experience what is known as an inertia if you hit them too hard. That my friend is a great thing because that means these brakes are actually in great condition and you wont have to worry about them for quite some time. I don't want to upset you but by being the proud owner of this car you're not going to turn into Jeff Gordan anytime soon. Nascar probably isn't in your cards but this is still a fun ride and a great daily driver.

Please feel free to make all the nascar noises that you want while you drive... You can even imagine that you're getting your tires changed by a professional pit crew when you goto NTB. By all means use your imagination if that is what you're into.

Ultimately you have the power. You have power seats, power locks, power windows and plenty of light bodied, all engine, rear wheel drive American power. In terms of buying power you wont really need much. There's no way you'll find a better deal out there for a vehicle with under 30k miles, fresh performance tires, and that has been garaged almost every day of its life.

If you want to posses something that you can look at in the garage of your condo and feel satisfaction about the choice you made to not drive a prop car from the fast and the furious feel free to contact me for any and all info I neglected to mention. Selling a car is not rocket science so I didn't feel the need to mention any drag coefficients or aerodynamic impacts that the rear spoiler enhances but if you'd like to discuss them over some American beer I'd be happy to entertain.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

2015 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack

Fri, 24 Oct 2014

We all knew That Kid. As a freshman, he was a big kid, overweight but surprisingly strong. Still, he was often picked on for his size. Then, he chatted with the football coach, who convinced him that his true calling was on the team's offensive line. After a season on the freshman squad and a summer of two-a-days, this mild-mannered, husky high schooler returned for his sophomore year as a big, imposing, solid piece of muscle. Needless to say, the same bullies that picked on him were praying he'd forgotten about them as a 10th grader.
That's the V8-powered 2015 Dodge Challenger. It arrived on the scene with a max of 425 horsepower and a bit of a weight problem. It completed its proverbial freshman year with a nice 2011 refresh, where the SRT8 was bumped up to 470 hp, but it still had some work to do.
Enter 2015, and fresh off three months of constant burpees and wind sprints, the newest Challenger is as big and powerful as it's ever been, but it's now got poise and potential, and my goodness, it's fun in a way that Dodge's muscle car has never been.

Bob Bondurant driving school closes a month after entering Chapter 11

Tue, Nov 13 2018

On Oct. 2, the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. In its filing, the 50-year-old racing school said it owed between 50 and 99 creditors an amount between $1 million and $10 million, and had $1 million to $10 million. The school released a statement at the time saying, "Our plan is to emerge from this process as a stronger company and continue to drive this company into the next 50 years." Instead, on Monday, Nov. 12, the Chandler, Arizona-based facility closed its doors with no official explanation. On top of its classes for aspiring racers, law enforcement authorities, and general population students, Bondurant has been the official driving school for Dodge SRT vehicles since 2015. Over the past two years, Dodge has included a one-day training course for any SRT buyers and lessees, redeemable within a year after finalizing the deal for the vehicle. To read the tale of one Hellcat owner at the Hellcat.org forum, even the school's instructors didn't see the closure coming. Forum member Av62nv arrived at Bondurant Monday to start his four-day experience. After a lengthy pause in the middle of the day, Av62nv wrote that the instructor walked in and told the class, "Sorry guys, don't know how to say this, but as some may know the school is in Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and it looks like 7 now. We are closed." Another poster in the forum, CubeMan, wrote that "Technicians and staff loaded their toolboxes, and paychecks have apparently bounced." Apparently family scion Jason Bondurant arrived and tried to explain; the short of it was that the good thing had come to an abrupt end, but there was "a chance it could come back." Other posters in the forum noted how they have reservations as far out as June 2019, or haven't been able to get to their classes yet because of delivery delays with their SRT cars, and have no idea what's happening. The website is still up, but a Bondurant spokesman confirmed the closure to Classic Cars, and a note on the school door reads, "School is closed. Direct all inquiries to Pat Bondurant." Pat is Bob Bondurant's wife, who married the former race driver in 2010 at the Monaco Grand Prix. A month ago, Bondurant's Chapter 11 bankruptcy statement said, "We will continue operating and serving our students and corporate groups as usual while we develop new business relationships to ensure the vitality of the company in the future." Obviously, that won't happen.

2015 Dodge Viper price drops $15k for 2015

Mon, 08 Sep 2014

We recently saw updated specs and new trims of the 2015 Viper, but it looks like the folks at Dodge were saving the biggest surprise for last. Prices on all levels of the American sports car are seeing an immediate, across-the-board price cut of $15,000; even 2014 models still remaining on dealer lots.
The new MSRP for the 2015 Viper in its base SRT trim now starts at $84,995, and when the TA and GTS come to the lineup later next year, they start at $100,995 and $107,995, respectively. The move seems like a swing for the fences that might help to quell slow sales.
Obviously, current Viper owners might be somewhat peeved that their investment was just re-priced by the company. However, to assuage some of their concerns, Dodge is giving all fifth-gen owners a certificate worth $15,000 towards the purchase of a new one, which comes in addition to the price reduction.
