It is in really good condition for a non-restored vehicle.  The engine is in running condition (please see video   CLICK HERE FOR VIDEO    ) The interior is intact including a non cracked original dash and all original upholstery, original seat belts with correct labels, luggage straps, carpeting, steering wheel, gauges, head liner, seat covers and visors. .  The rubber is in good condition. Datsun 240Z 1970 Series VIN HLS30- 08551 engine number L24 11638

This car is equipped with a 2.4 Liter inline 6 cylinder engine, rated at 150 HP at 6000 RPM, it has the original round top twin SU Carbs, original 4 speed transmission.  This vehicle is in running condition, it will need to either have the hydraulics inspected and repaired as it has not been on the road since 1983 when it was garaged.  It does turn over and start, please see video for start up from the link above. It has to the best of my knowledge 102737 original miles as the odometer has just turned over. The body is straight and has no rust problem areas.  The underside of the battery tray usually where you find rust first, the unibody is intact and all body panels beneath the car are intact with no rust. There are pictures of the floor boards without the carpet in the Flickr photo set as well as the floor for the spare tire area. These areas have never been restored or painted, the car is as it is pictured. I have personally never seen a 44 year old car in such good condition without restoration. This is a very desirable year and model as it is a first year Z, The Z registry lists a little over 200 of these cars at the current time as survivors.  This vehicle is not in the registry at this time.

Datsun 240Z History

  • Largest selling sports car in North America
  • Designed in the mid 1960's with head turning style similar to Ferrari 250GT and Jaguar type E
  • Rear wheel drive
  • Independent suspension with 4 Macpherson struts
  • Proven race car (Rally, track and drag) with ample aftermarket performance parts still available.
  • Many parts are plug and play from other Datsuns (transmissions, motors, differentials, brakes, etc.)
  • Used parts are easily sourced and are low in cost
  • Japan's "Mustang"
  • Early Gen 1 Z's are Collectors Car

Condition This car can be enjoyed as it is, a true survivor or it would make an extremely easy base for restoration as it has no rust problems. The current paint is to the best of my knowledge originally from the factory.  Interior is intact, I have not seen many Z’s in this condition.  This is a rarity, especially being a first year series 1 car with all its correct parts.  This vehicle would be considered a number 3 car on the Hagerty insurance valuation site.  The interior, straight body and rust free condition are the greatest attributes of this car

Subaru Legacy pitted against Roadkill project cars

Fri, 05 Sep 2014

There's an evergreen debate among auto enthusiasts about whether they would prefer to have the latest and greatest car of today or a certified classic from yesteryear. What if you had to further define that, though, and the choice was between a brand new 2015 Subaru Legacy or a turbocharged Datsun 240Z with a hatch that wouldn't close? Roadkill aimed to find out that and more in one of its best videos to date.
According to the hosts, Subaru came to them, handed over some money and challenged Roadkill's project cars against its latest Legacy. The result is every bit as good (or better) than any automotive-themed show you could find on television.
Things start simple with a figure-eight race in a rodeo arena with the Subaru taking on Roadkill's 1968 Ford Ranchero, originally built for ice racing. From there the Legacy races a 1968 Dodge Charger with no windows around and off-road rally stage. Finally, the Subie goes head-to-head against the Rotsun, the aforementioned turbocharged 240Z, through an abandoned neighborhood. Plus, there's a bonus drag race challenging them all.

Datsun debuts new seven-seat Go+ in Indonesia [w/video]

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

The Datsun name may have long since been replaced by Nissan, but the old brand is making a comeback - in certain markets, at least. Nissan relaunched the Datsun brand in July as its new budget brand for developing markets with the debut of the Go hatchback, and has now followed up with the addition of the larger Go+.
Set to be built in Indonesia at Nissan's plant in Purwakarta, the Go+ debuts today in the capital of Jakarta as the second model in the new Datsun lineup. The seven-passenger minivan features flexible seating in a compact form 13 feet long, powered by an unspecified 1.2-liter engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
Nissan isn't saying much else about the model, but hopes the new Datsun twins will account for half of its sales in Indonesia within three years. The low price target for both models - set to come in at less than 100 million rupiah ($8,700) - ought to help it get there. The lineup is then scheduled to reach other markets, starting with India, Russia and South Africa next year.

Meet the man who took a year sabbatical to drive his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster

Tue, 28 Jan 2014

A quiet drive in the country can be the most relaxing thing in the world. What if it didn't have to end, and you could keep driving for a week, a month or even a whole year? That's what Scott Fisher is doing by taking a one-year sabbatical from work and driving his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster around North America.
"I had owned a manufacturing business in Las Vegas for 16 years. I knew I needed to kinda' get out, and unwind, and get my mojo back," said Fisher.
Fisher's trip has covered over 30,000 miles through 44 states and 7 Canadian Provinces, and it is not over yet. He left from his home in Las Vegas, NV, last spring and drove to the Pacific. From there, he drove up the coast to the Canadian border and aimed the car for the Atlantic. He just posted on his blog about visiting the Nissan headquarters and museum in Franklin, TN, and his next stops are Mississippi and New Orleans, LA.
