I am the 3rd owner of this 1977 280z, 104,730 miles, I can't confirm as actual miles but I believe it to be true, the previous owner brought it out of California from original owner in 1981 with 57000 on the clock, and owned it 25 years/47000 miles. in that time he had the engine rebuilt (1988) and the body repainted (1989) as well as repair/replace several high wear items (recovered seats, rubber door seals, suspension components, radiator etc) I bought it in July of 06 with 104,400mi. and have only put 330 miles on it since. the car is rust free and in Beautiful condition. 1 repaint still looks great, has a deep shine, 1 tiny ding in drivers door (doesn't show in pictures) a few light scratches, no rust, however on the inside of drivers door jamb by hinge, paint is starting to bubble, see pic. the glass is clear and remarkably scratch/fog free, has the Nissan logo stamp on all windows still. both driver and pass crank up and down smoothly. the locks still lock and the key still operates the locks. all the doors, hatch and hood are perfectly aligned and shut and close effortlessly. in the trunk are the original space saver tire,  Jack, and the Datsun tire inflater canister everything in there looks like it did in 1977.

the interior looks like new, the seats were recovered many years ago but have no rips or holes, the dash is crack free with no fade,
door panels and head liner are excellent, very nice carpet on the floor and hatch area with no fade, car is always garaged.

the engine starts quick, idles smooth and pulls hard thru all 5 gears, no smoke, block is clean and dry, no sign of leaks
the Z drives excellent, I wasn't old enough to drive in 77 but I imagine this is it's as good now as it was than, you can take
your hands off the steering wheel at 70 mph and she tracks perfectly straight, no vibrations or weird noises. the only mechanical issues are the A/C could use a recharge and both the temp gauge and the oil pressure  gauge work intermittently, meaning they both come on and read for a few minutes and than they will both stop reading. other than that, all the lights, wipers, heater etc work fine. the Dunlop tires are stock size and look like new, no sign of dry rot (still have the little studs on sides) but are probably 8 years old.

In the past few months I had the clutch assembly replaced and the flywheel resurfaced
replaced two fuel injectors
Battery an Brake light switch..have $1300 in receipts
will also include in the sale a set of 4 vintage American racing 5 slot mags (stock size from a 240z)
clear Mn. title in my name
inspections welcome and encouraged, feel free to email thru ebay with questions or call week nights before 8:00pm central time
at 651-239-6682.   car is located in zip code 55079  this is about 40 miles north of the twin cities (Minneapolis/St.Paul)
no 0 feedback bidders please
thanks for looking and good luck!

Nissan IDx Nismo and IDx Freeflow concepts are a bridge to the Datsun 510

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

We're not sure if someone from The Adjustment Bureau stopped by Nissan's PR department to explain the IDx Nismo and IDx Freeflow concepts, but the company's odd press release can't diminish our love for these two show favorites. We had been told to look out for an unnamed Datsun 510 BRE homage, and once we saw the brothers IDx, we knew we'd found them. But the press release doesn't mention anything about the Datsun 510 Brock Racing Enterprises, nor does it mention one Mr. Peter Brock, the man who won two Trans-Am championships in the Seventies for the nascent Japanese budget brand.
Instead, it declares that the cars were the result of a co-creation product development process with "digital natives," said natives being the whippersnappers born after 1990. Nissan says it worked with the young'uns to create two different expressions of "their desire for a basic, authentic configuration for a car." If that's true, it appears that what the kiddies really want are... two different homages to the Datsun 510 BRE that Peter Brock used to win two championships in the seventies for the nascent Japanese brand.
The IDx Freeflow - the "ID" is for "identification," the "x" is "the variable representing the new values and dreams born through communication" - takes the casual approach, with a light khaki exterior hue, a minimalist interior decked out in denim and a console shifter that works a continuously variable transmission. The IDx Nismo is out for blood, from its crimson interior to its five-point harness to its bolt-on flares and sidepipes. We aren't told what the digital natives requested for powerplants, but that's alright; if this is what "co-creation" looks like, we're not entirely against it except where that "CVT" is involved.

Datsun expands low-cost revival with new Mi-Do in Moscow [w/video]

Fri, 29 Aug 2014

Those who were disappointed when Datsun changed its name to Nissan over three decades ago may have been pleased to see the marque revived last year, even as a budget brand. Nissan's counterpart to its ally Renault's Dacia budget brand, Datsun has been steadily expanding its lineup of low-cost transportation for developing markets with the debut of the Go hatchback in India, the Go+ minivan in Indonesia and the On-Do sedan in Russia. And now it has returned to Moscow to reveal its fourth model, the Mi-Do.
Based closely on the On-Do sedan (which itself is based on the Lada Granta) the Mi-Do takes on a five-door hatchback bodystyle but with no more frills. It uses the same front-drive chassis with the same wheelbase as the sedan, but its chopped tail makes it a good foot and a half shorter overall. Into that compact shape, Datsun has fitted dual airbags, ABS and... well, that's about it. It's got a 1.6-liter, eight-valve inline-four kicking out a grand total of 87 horsepower to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. Bare bones, this is.
While delivery of the first On-Do sedans commences next month (with the first example going to an IT specialist in Omsk), the Mi-Do is set to begin delivery early next year. Scope out the video and press release below from the Mi-Do's reveal at the Moscow Motor Show.

This father and son duo terrorize the UK countryside in Datsun 240Z pair

Wed, 12 Nov 2014

The Datsun 240Z got a lot of things right when it was introduced, with handsome styling, strong performance and a reasonably affordable price. And while the coupes grew a strong fan base in the US, they remained quite a rarity in the UK. Decades later, a father and son in England have latched onto the car and bonded over their shared love for two completely opposite takes on this Japanese GT
There's already quite a collection of exotics in Mel Streek's garage, and his rat rod 240Z, which he calls the Ratsun, definitely doesn't fit with the rest. On the outside, the Datsun looks ready to fall apart, but it's mechanically perfect underneath. Alternatively, Mel's son, Ollie, has a completely different take for his Z with its perfect, shining paint.
Both Zs sound amazing, though. They have a mechanical, somewhat course exhaust note that's intoxicating to hear. You can definitely tell there's some work going on under the hood. Check out this video from Petrolicious for a father and son who both find something to love in these classic Japanese coupes.
