I purchased this car 7 years ago for my mother, she was 69 at the time.
I immediately replaced the engine, the original had a broken intake bolt, and it cost less to replace than repair.
The newer engine has 50,000 miles less than the car.
My mother took possession of my deceased uncles Kia, and the PT Cruiser was back in my possession, just in time for my daughter to drive daily for the passed 2 1/2 years back and forth to High School.
I did not plan on selling the PT, but I brought home a Honda CR-V, and my daughter said dad, I love it, and the rest is history.
The PT needs nothing!
I have maintained and replace any little thing it needed.
Most recent maintenance, New Power Steering Rack, New Control Arms, New Eagle Goodyears, New Rotors and Pads, New Battery...and a few more items that escape me at the moment.
Bottom line, if it needed it, I replaced it.
The car runs and drives like a new car.
NO RUST!
The AC is Ice Cold, the Sun Roof works properly, and I did add one little device under the hood that greatly improved the MPG's, and keeps the combustion chamber very clean and efficient.
My daughter has been averaging 26MPG hwy/city combined.
Not only does it get great mileage, fun driving, but because it is technically a truck, the insurance rates are much lower than a comparable car.
Now the bad, in the picture of the roof, the exterior shot of the Sun Roof, you can see the black paint is thin and the primer is slightly showing through, this same thing is happening at the top of the rear hatch.

NHTSA investigating Chrysler for airbags, ignition switches
Wed, 18 Jun 2014Chrysler is being targeted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in a pair of actions that focus on over 1.2 million Jeeps, minivans and crossovers.
The first is a "preliminary investigation" that focuses on an airbag issue afflicting the Jeep Commander built in model years 2006 and 2007 and Grand Cherokee from 2005 to 2006. In total, 700,000 vehicles could potentially be affected. It's not entirely clear what the airbag issue is, with The Detroit Free Press simply stating that the restraint systems in the affected Jeeps may be "faulty."
The other investigation is what's called a "recall query" and it covers a problem that General Motors should be familiar with. In this case, there could be a problem with the ignition switches of 525,000 vehicles, ranging from 2008 to 2010 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans, to the 2008 to 2010 Dodge Journey crossover. Again, it's not entirely clear what sort of behavior prompted the 32 complaints that NHTSA has received on these vehicles.
Volkswagen is not cool with a Fiat Chrysler merger
Wed, Mar 8 2017Volkswagen CEO Matthias Mueller shot down Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne's overtures for a merger in blunt fashion this week. Mueller told Reuters at the Geneva Motor Show, "We are not ready for talks about anything ... we have other problems. I haven't seen Marchionne for months." The unusually candid – and icy – response from one chief executive to another comes after Marchionne similarly pursued General Motors (again) this week. The FCA boss suggested GM might be looking for a new European partner as it prepares to unload its troubled Opel and Vauxhall divisions to PSA. A GM spokesman told USA Today that the company is not interested. Marchionne has been openly suggesting a GM merger since at least 2015, despite GM never reciprocating interest. VW's "other problems," as Mueller notes, include legal proceedings, fines, recalls, and other issues related to its long-running diesel scandal. Marchionne has long sought industry consolidation, arguing that automakers don't get a proper return on their investments in technologies, some of which are relatively similar. He's suggested sharing chassis and powertrain components could be a benefit to the collective auto sector. Skeptics argue FCA, which is smaller than GM, VW, Toyota, and others, needs a partner to survive, while its rivals already have the necessary scale to remain competitive. Related Video:
2014 Chrysler 200 to set design tone for brand
Sun, 20 Jan 2013Speaking with Wards Auto at this year's Detroit Auto Show, Chrysler design chief Ralph Gilles said that the next-generation Chrysler 200 will launch a whole new styling direction for the brand when it arrives for the 2014 model year. Gilles did not reveal any specific design cues or elements that will be found on the next 200, only saying that the new car "shares no surface language with any previous Chrysler we've ever seen."
Indeed, the current 200 isn't exactly setting the world on fire with any sort of clever, emotive design, but Gilles knows that. "The current Chryslers on the road today certainly don't reflect where we're headed," he told Wards Auto. Instead, Gilles said that "we are deviating from where we are today, completely. It's a very different feeling (and) look."
The launch of the new Chrysler 200 will officially mean the death of its Dodge Avenger counterpart, though Gilles says that the company is working on an all-new product to replace that vehicle down the road. Still, Chrysler will need a successful player in the popular midsize segment, and Gilles fully expects the new 200 to be up to the task. "I think it's going to be a beautiful and relevant vehicle."
