..........1950 CHRYSLER  TOWN & COUNTRY..........PERHAPS ONE OF THE RAREST WITH A PRODUCTION OF ONLY 700.   THIS IS A DRIVER ALTHOUGH IT APPEARS TO BE A STUNNING SHOW CAR. HOWEVER IT STILL RETAINS MANY ORIGINAL PARTS. THIS  T&C HAS BEEN A COLORADO CAR SINCE PURCHASED NEW  AND STILL REMAINS SO.. AS MANY KNOW,CARS IN THIS CLIMATE, ESPECIALLY WESTERN COLORADO, DOESN'T RUST. THIS CAR IS NO EXCEPTION. IN FACT ALL THE TRIM IS ORIGINAL AND ONLY THE BUMPERS HAVE BEEN RE-PLATED BECAUSE  THEY ABSORB THE USUAL DENTS,.....THE INTERIOR HAS BEEN "FRESHENED" WITH A FEW PANELS  REPLACING SOME WORN SPOTS WITH ORIGINAL FABRIC.THE CARPETING HAS ALSO BEEN REPLACED EXCEPT FOR THE TRUNK WHICH REMAINS ORIGINAL AS WITH THE REMAINDER  INCLUDING ALL WINDOW GLASS.   ......................ENGINE:  COMPLETE PROFESSIONAL RE-BUILD. WITH PERHAPS 200 MILES ON A 97,000 MILE ENGINE..................BODY:  RUST FREE AND ACCIDENT FREE; RECENTLY PAINTED AND NEVER ANY WOOD ROT.                                         TO BE A TOTALLY OUTSTANDING TOWN & COUNTRY, THERE ARE SOME AREAS THAT REQUIRE ATTENTION AND ARE THE FOLLOWING:    SOME WEATHERSTRIPPING COULD BE REPLACED.STEERING HAS EXCESSIVE PLAY.  I BELIEVE A CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT WOULD ENHANCE BACKING UP.   IT GRABS NEAR THE TOP RESULTING IN  JERKING THE CAR ONLY IN REVERSE TRAVEL. LASTLY,  A FEW TIMES THE SHIFTING LINKAGE JAMMED. I PURCHASED A NEW BUSHING WHICH HASN'T BEEN INSTALLED.   THIS CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY WILL GET A LOT OF ATTENTION AND PROVIDE YEARS OF ENJOYMENT.

Chrysler trademark suggest new Rebel in the family

Mon, 05 May 2014

Trademark filings can be a first alert in the auto industry that something is coming. For example, Lamborghini trademarked Aventador before we saw its supercar, and Chevrolet did the same thing with Z28. Other times, an automaker files to protect a name and never does anything with it. Chrysler is dredging up a brand from the past by filing a US request for "Rebel." The name is specifically for "motor vehicles, namely automobiles, trucks, vans, sport utility vehicles and structural parts therefor," according to Ignitionist quoting the filing.
In the US, Rebel was previously used on some American Motors Corporation models. It even spawned a muscle car version called the Machine (pictured above). Chrysler eventually bought AMC when it bowed out of the auto industry in 1987.
Chrysler's plans for the name are a complete mystery at the moment. Although, it probably won't be a midsize sedan like the original. That just seems too unlikely given the brand's current, established lineup. Rebel seems like a fantastic name for the performance trim of a vehicle, though. The Jeep Renegade Rebel has a nice ring to it, and a Ram 1500 Rebel pickup could also work. We're going to have to wait and see what's in store for the moniker. Let us know in Comments what model you think would fit the Rebel name.

Marchionne on Alfa's US return, Dodge Dart's powertrain weakness and minivan plans

Fri, 18 Jan 2013

As a reporter covering an auto show, the one opportunity you never want to miss is going to the Sergio Marchionne press briefing.
"This undertaking to bring Alfa back is a one-shot deal... We are not going to do this twice."
There just aren't that many real characters left in the auto industry. Marchionne, who sits atop both Chrysler and Fiat, is not only one of the smartest execs in the business, but also the most frank. Herein, a sample of the quotable always-sweatered executive:

Chrysler shows creative side with employee art exhibit

Wed, 27 Nov 2013

The United Auto Workers and Chrysler recently sponsored 92 works of art created by 50 of the automaker's unionized and salaried employees for the 2013-14 Artists at Work Exhibition, the ninth such show, which recognizes the creative process required to make art and manufacture vehicles. Chrysler says the event is "the country's only juried art show sponsored by a major corporation and a labor union." Unfortunately, the exhibit is not open to the public, but we have images to share of the winning pieces as well as other interesting exhibits in the gallery above.
"Art and manufacturing have more in common than you might think," says Keith Mickens, Chrysler-UAW National Training Center co-director from the UAW. "The creative process involved in producing a memorable image on a canvas can be used to help build quality vehicles on an assembly line."
A diverse range of art forms are showcased, from metal sculptures to ceramics to photography to paintings and more. Four Detroit-area professional artists narrowed down over 600 submissions to the 92 works of art that were shown at the exhibit, then awarded "Best of Show" prizes to three employees for their work (the first three images in our gallery) and selected 11 employees for honorable mentions. The overall winner is the sculpture above by Joseph Aiuto, titled "Childhood Anxiety."
