I purchased this vehicle last year. It is a 2nd series 1949 New Yorker club coupe. This is an extremely rare vehicle to find available. It is 100% all original. Original paint, original interior and original Spitfire 323 Straight 8. Here is the back story: This was owned by a family in southwest Wisconsin for years. The owner took it into a local restoration shop for maintenance including a valve job and brakes. Then the fellow passed away and the car sat inside storage for 10 + years. I then became aware of it and purchased it and brought it to central Iowa.
The body on this car wears it's original paint and is arrow straight. Most glass is good, but I believe the front passenger glass (door) has cracks and would need replaced.
THERE IS ONE TRIM PIECE MISSING which has not been located and that is the stainless spear on the drivers door. That's it.
The pot metal surely needs rechromed but you can do it a bit at a time. Some chorme is driver quality - it just all depends on what you are after. An easy car to restore or an all original gem.
INTERIOR: The interior - in my opinion - is amazing but you may think otherwise. Original carpet, front seat is original and nice, back seat top has issue on the top near the package tray and needs reupholstery but bottom is OK. There is staining in the lighter color fabrics but they can be cleaned up. The dash pad (1st year for dash pad) needs recovered in leather or vinyl BUT the good part is the foam has integrity and can be used. Dash instrument cluster is OK, some grazing on steering wheel horn button but OK.
ENGINE: With some coaxing, this car should run. It ran 10+ years ago after the valve job, per the shop owner . Now, it would be a good idea to drop the gas tank and clean it out or have it resealed and go through the lines. Needs a battery. My plan is to take this to a professional restoration shop if no one else wants it.
NO TITLE
Why am I selling it? In 2012 I purchased 7 vehicles for whatever reason. This is one I want to keep, but I am putting ALL up for sale and seeing what shakes out. This is BY FAR the best non running car I have and it's a straight forward process to get a bonded title in Iowa or elsewhere.
What else? Take a look at all the high resolution photos and you too will be amazed at the original condition of this super rare car. Maybe 3-4 are offered in any one year and few have survived in this condition. This is not a 6 cyl Windsor, this is the top of the line long wheelbase New Yorker. Don't miss this opportunity.
I am always available for questions. Also on Craigslist for sale. Bryan 515-520-2611

Fiat Chrysler's London offices will be small, with financial focus
Tue, 20 May 2014Fiat Chrysler's decision to locate its new corporate headquarters in jolly old London won't herald a sprawling relocation effort. Instead, it's very likely that the FCA outfit will be a small one, primarily focused on finance.
The report comes from Automotive News Europe, which claims FCA's London office will employ about 50 people with backgrounds in finance. CEO Sergio Marchionne and Fiat Group Chairman John Elkann will both have offices at the corporate headquarters, as well.
ANE cites an anonymous source that claims the people employed at the London office will focus primarily on treasury operations. It's unlikely that FCA will take on any additional employees specifically for its UK offices. That said, FCA isn't likely to downsize either its Turin or Auburn Hills offices once London comes online.
Chrysler expecting up to 200,000 9-speed transmissions for 3 models this year
Tue, 22 Jan 2013Striving for improved fuel economy, we already knew that Chrysler will begin using a nine-speed automatic transmission in some of its new products this year, but what we haven't known is that volume at which this gearbox will be used. According to Bloomberg, Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has been quoted as saying that the automaker expects to sell close to 200,000 units equipped with this new transmission in 2013. Those gear-rich trannies will be spread out across three models, consisting of the redesigned Chrysler 200, the still-unnamed Jeep Liberty replacement and the Dodge Dart.
This transmission should play a pivotal role in making Chrysler vehicles more competitive in their respective segments. Just for comparison, one of the Dart's key competitors, the Toyota Corolla, still uses a four-speed automatic, and a previous report indicates that the next-generation 200 could get up to 38 miles per gallon on the highway, which is better than most non-hybrid midsize sedans on the market. Marchionne says that the new Jeep model is expected during the second quarter of this year, but there is no word as to when the new 200 or nine-speed Dart will debut, but clearly Dodge would like to have the transmission in its compact yesterday. As for that volume figure, it definitely doesn't seem out of reach since the Dart, Liberty and 200 combined for a total of more than 225,000 units in 2012.
How many more gears can we expect in future cars? Probably not many more, since the CEO of transmission-builder ZF, Stefan Sommer, previously stated that nine speeds was the "natural limit" for transmissions.
How the demise of Lincoln's Town Car has kick-started a limo revolution
Sun, 30 Dec 2012The deaths of the Ford Crown Victoria and the Lincoln Town Car have meant overhauls of three high-profile American fleets: police, taxi and livery car. Just as police fleets are more open to considering other options and a Nissan van is the new face of the NYC taxi, livery car companies are looking at replacements for the Town Car beyond The Blue Oval. Ford, via Lincoln, has made an MKT Town Car (pictured), but an article in the Detroit News claims "it has failed to win over most of the big limousine companies." The upstarts trying to move in include livery and limo editions of the Cadillac XTS, and livery specifications of the Toyota Avalon and Chrysler 300.
Each of those challengers, however, faces challenges. The Town Car was a workhorse, American, rear-wheel-drive sedan with plenty of rear legroom. Cadillac has been in the livery space before but with decontented models that were about selling the brand, not its luxury. It is taking the opposite approach with the XTS, pointing out that its livery edition is "contented in the upper half of the XTS range." Still, the CEO of Michigan's largest livery company says "it's quite a bit smaller than what we're used to," and he also prefers rear-wheel drive.
The Chrysler 300 is rear-wheel drive, and American, which matters to some companies, but Chrysler hasn't yet revealed the livery package for it. The livery Avalon marks Toyota's first time getting into that business in the US, a natural step after having done so well with taxi clients and with the Town Car out of the way. Still, the livery client is a different to taxi buyers, so the Avalon could face other soft-touch hurdles.
