Up for auction is a very rare 1974 Chrysler Imperial, 2 door, with a moonroof! I bought this car non running, it had been sitting since the previous owner passed away years before. He owned 40+ Imperials, this one sat in its own garage. It has expired tags from 1994. I started to do some research on this imperial and a previous owner contacted me asking me if I knew how rare this car was. He said it was given to Frank Sinatra when he came out of retirement and back to Las Vegas in 1974. I have contacted several Imperial clubs and they are all blown away with some of the options on this car, especially that it has a SPECIAL HANDLING tag on it that they have never seen before. Paint code is a 999 Special Order. It has white pin striping and white molding on the car which also is almost never seen on these cars. I even got in touch with Nancy Sinatra and asked her about the car. She told me that her dad loved Chrysler and owned many over the years but could not tell me for sure yes or no if this belonged to her dad. The story I was told is that in the middle of 1974 Frank Sinatra held a fund raiser that he himself paid for to raise money for children and that he dontated this car to help raise funds. If you know any info and could get in touch with me I would greatly appreciat it.
As for the car condition itself it is now running and driving, although it still runs a little rough. I had the carb rebuild, new belts and hoses, and a few other things done to make sure the motor was in good working order, there is a problem in the steering column and the key does not work, the mechanic took a panel out of the dash and we can now by pass the key. Very easy to start. The paint is in OK condition. it has faded over the years, and I took pictures of the bad areas. There is some rust around the back window, the rest of the body is very straight and rust free. The interior is in good shape. Front seat is cracking, carpet looks good, headliner has a rip and is very brittle. No cracks in the dash, door panels look good. Tires are weathered but still hold air. Overall this is a nice old car that needs someone to put some time and money into. In the last 8 months I have been doing research I have been able to find info regarding 2 red imperial, ralley red! paint code was E85. But i have never found a 999 paint code. I have shown 5 people this car and have got 5 different ideas of what color the paint is, most say pink or an off orange/red. The paint in the door jams and trunk still looks pretty good please let me know if you know what color this is.
I will not disclose the reserve but if you are interested please feel free to make an offer.

Ralph Gilles responds to Dodge rumors, says brand is 'here to stay'
Fri, 12 Jul 2013This is why we love Ralph Gilles. While in Italy hanging out with a group of Viper Club members in Europe, the SRT boss took the time to respond to a question directed at him on Instagram in regards to the future of Dodge.
Recent reports have painted a bleak picture for Dodge, but Gilles defended Chrysler's full-line brand by stating that the rumors are, "all rumors, Dodge is here to stay! It may get more focused going forward but not killed!" The idea of a "more focused" Dodge brand could lend some credibility to reports that the Grand Caravan and Durango are on their way out, which would leave Dodge solely as a car, or car-based, automaker.
Junkyard Gem: 1986 Plymouth Horizon
Wed, Oct 18 2017Chrysler imported quite a few Mitsubishis and sold them as Dodge and Plymouth Colts, but the Colts of the 1980s had to compete with the Plymouth Horizon and its Dodge Omni sibling. Based on a Chrysler Europe design, production of the Plymouth Horizon ran in virtually unchanged form from the 1979 through 1990 model years. A simple, cheap econobox, the Plymouth Horizon sold well enough, but was such a disposable car that very few remain today. Here's one that lasted long enough to end its days in a California wrecking yard at age 31. The genealogy of the Omnirizon gets a bit tangled when you go back far enough; the car is based on the chassis design of the 1975 Simca 1307, though by the time it got to Detroit it had evolved considerably. Chrysler was desperate for an American-built economy car during the late 1970s, and the Omnirizon got the job done. The 1978-1982 Horizons had 1.7-liter Volkswagen engines, while the 1983-1986 models came with a 1.6-liter Simca mill as the base engine. The Chrysler 2.2-liter four was an optional Horizon powerplant starting in 1981, and the only engine available from 1987 through the final Horizons built in 1990. This car has the 2.2, rated at 96 horses in 1986. The '86 Horizon weighed a mere 2,100 pounds (about the same as a 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage), and so 96 horsepower made it peppy enough by mid-1980s econo-commuter standards. The interior is right out of the Slippery Plastic With Fake Stitching™ playbook, but nobody bought an Omnirizon for the luxury. This car was basically identical to its Dodge Omni sibling, and both had MSRPs of $6,209 in 1986 (about $13,900 in inflation-adjusted 2017 bucks). You could get cheaper new cars in 1986— the $4,995 Hyundai Excel and $3,990 Yugo GV come to mind— but the Omnirizon five-doors were better-built and had the sales advantage of being known quantities. Even by 1986, the Omnirizon was showing its age (though not as much as the amusingly obsolete Chevrolet Chevette, which was sold through the 1987 model year). Still, it remained sufficiently relevant to sell in decent number for another four years. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. GM, FCA retain financial advisors amid merger rumors
Thu, Jun 18 2015Well, here we go again. Despite allegedly shutting down the idea of a merger, General Motors has retained financial advisors to, well, advise it on Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' advances. GM brought in New York-based Goldman Sachs, while FCA is currently working with Switzerland's UBS. Another source told Reuters that GM was working with Morgan Stanley, as well. But what does all this mean? Well, as we know, FCA boss Sergio Marchionne still has his eyes set very much on merging his automaker to combat what he claims are the prohibitive costs that come from developing today's vehicles. And while GM has said "no thanks," to a merger, the FCA boss is still looking to shareholders of the world's third-largest automaker to force the issue. Rather than a sign of an impending merger, voluntary or otherwise, between the two automotive powers – analysts called a hostile move by FCA "beyond ambitious," after all – retaining financial advisors on both sides could be viewed as just good business.
