1957 CHRYSLER IMPERIAL CROWN

TWO-DOOR HARDTOP WITH FACTORY HEMI

Here is a very rare find, and with interesting historical papers showing the car registered to the Mexican Presidents home (Los Pinos) in 1958.  This is a 1957 Chrysler Imperial Crown South Hampton Edition.

The car runs and drives and still has its original 392 Hemi “Fire Power” motor and push button transmission.    The car came with Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows, Power Seat etc.  No Air Conditioning.

All the glass is good,  the power windows kinda work, but very slowly.  Wipers work, can’t get headlights to come-on.    The original radio is there but does not function.  The speedometer works and mileage reads 93,XXX.  A few gauges work...a few don’t.

The body of the car is really nice over all...I have found no signs of Bondo.  The original floors, and trunk pan are intact and solid.  The car has minor rust issues as in bubbles under the paint in a few areas.

The brakes stop the car but currently the car pulls a bit.  It looks like the passenger front brake wheel cylinder is leaking.

The interior was redone at some point, its presentable, The carpet is old, and it could use a new headliner.  The chrome on the car is good to poor condition.  The car is like 52 years old.   The front bumper should be re chromed.  Missing one small piece of trim over a headlight.

The original paint color was Gun Metal Gray.  I saw some pictures of it and it looked smashing.  If you have questions, I have answers...please call Houston Wills at 210-548-1310.  The car comes with a clear Texas title and a file of old documents going back to 1957.

What will the next Presidential limo look like?

Thu, 25 Jul 2013

With recent news that the Secret Service has begun soliciting proposals for a new armored limousine, we've been wondering what the next presidential limo might look like. The current machine, nicknamed "The Beast", has a design based on a car that's no longer sold: the Cadillac DTS. If General Motors gets the job again, which wouldn't be a surprise considering the government still owns a chunk of the company, the next limo's shape would likely resemble the new XTS (below, left). But Cadillac hasn't always been the go-to car company for presidential whips.
Lincoln has actually provided far more presidential limousines throughout history than Cadillac. In fact, the first car modified for Commander-in-Chief-carrying duty was a 1939 Lincoln K-Series called "Sunshine Special" used by Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the last Lincoln used by a president was a 1989 Town Car ordered for George H.W. Bush. If President Obama wanted a Lincoln today, it would likely be an amalgam of the MKS sedan and MKT crossover, as illustrated above.
And what about Chrysler? The only record we could find of a President favoring the Pentastar is Nixon, who reportedly ordered two limos from the company during his administration in the '70s, and then another one, known today as the "K-Car limo," in the '80s after he left office. Obama, however, has a personal - if modest - connection to Chryslers, having owned a 300 himself before he took office. A 300-based Beast (above, right) would certainly earn the U.S. some style points.

Chrysler's Jefferson North plant builds 5-millionth SUV [w/video]

Thu, 15 Aug 2013

Chrysler's Jefferson North Assembly Plant opened in 1992 for production of the first Jeep Grand Cherokee, but in the subsequent years, the Detroit plant has gone on to produce some of the company's biggest SUVs including the Jeep Commander and Dodge Durango. Earlier this week, the plant produced its five-millionth SUV, which, fittingly, was a Grand Cherokee.
Celebrating the plant's five-millionth unit, the silver 2014 Grand Cherokee was promptly donated to the USO. In addition to this milestone SUV, Chrysler also had a near-perfect 1993-95 ZJ Grand Cherokee on hand for the photo op. Scroll down for the Chrysler press release as well as a video showing some of the speeches from the celebration.

2015 Chrysler 300 looks to recapture its mojo in LA

Wed, 19 Nov 2014

Chrysler's 300 sedan has never been a shrinking violet, but it arguably lost a bit of swagger when its second-generation model bowed. There was no way that an evolutionary design could ever upend the automotive establishment the way the original 2005 model did, but even so, something was clearly left on the table when the 2011 model bowed.
You don't have take our word for it - Chrysler knows it, too. Reflecting back upon the second-generation model's styling today, Ralph Gilles, Chrysler's senior vice president of design is refreshingly candid, telling Autoblog, "Our previous generation of leaders didn't understand the car very well, and kind of forced this front end on us." For 2015, Gilles and Co. have worked to recapture some of the 2005 design's lightning in a bottle. In Gilles' words, the brief for the refreshed 2015 model was to "give the car the attitude it deserves... up the attitude, up the presence."
Visually, the new 300 initially appears very similar to the current car, but closer inspection and side-by-side comparisons reveal countless changes, the most noticeable being a much larger front grille (by about 30 percent), redone light fixtures and a 'Mobius-strip' lower fascia that picks up where the new 200 left off. The cabin has been upgraded, too, with a standard seven-inch display in the gauge cluster, the latest UConnect infotainment system and improved material choices.
