I'm selling my 2004 Chrysler Crossfire Limited Coupe, it comes equipped with a 6-Speed manual transmision, 3.2L Mercedes V6 engine, Rear wheel drive, Speed activated spoiler, and Heated leather seats.  I'm going to do my very best to describe everything about this car as accurately as I can so we will both come away from this deal happy.  As i'm typing this this car has 101,774 miles on it, however this is my daily driver of about 50 miles a day so that number will go up.

Starting with the good:  It has a new clutch and flywheel, new brakes (pads and rotors) on the front and the rear, Newer tires on the front, cold air intake system, flowmaster muffler w/ aftermarket chrome tips, aftermarket cd player, new sony door speakers, new spark plugs last summer, and it just had an oil change with Mobil 1 synthetic (this is the oil that has been used since new).

And the bad:  EXTERIOR: Like I said this is a daily driver with nearly 102K miles on it so it has some scrapes, and rock chips, i've taken pictures of the three blemishes that are the most note worthy.  They include the scratch on the passanger side front bumper, the half dollar size rust spot behind the passanger door, and the ding on the drivers door.  The tread on the rear tires is getting thin and they will need to be replaced in the next few months.  Liscense plate light does not work, and the fog lights quit working a few months ago, the headlights have some light hazing on the bottom half of the housings.  ENGINE: The only things i can think of with the engine is there is a very light tick, I believe it to be a lifter tick, this is quite common for this engine and it has done it since i bought the car 60,000 miles ago.  Also the oil light on the dash is on due to a sensor in the oil pan going bad, it doesn't affect anything and has also been on since I bought the car, I just never got around to dropping the oil pan to replace the sensor.  INTERIOR: As you can see from the photos there is some wear on the drivers seat bolster that has now worn into a small hole, there is also a wear hole in the carpet by the pedals from my heal.  As with every other crossfire on the road the cup holder doesn't work ( I have an aftermarket one that sits between the seats that has always worked for me that I will include if you want it.)  The hazard lights don't work (so don't turn them on or you won't get them back off for a week or so)  One of the lights behind the gauges is burned out (hardly noticeable)  The faceplate of the radio doesn't want to stay on (there is a fix in place but its just temporary, i'm working on a more permanent fix but it may or may not get done).  All in all the interior is in good shape it has some scratches on the plastic and stains on the carpet, but I will clean it thoroughly before you take possesion of it.  This is all that i can remember if i notice anything else I will update the listing as soon as possible.

Overall this is a great little car, that handles like a go cart and is pretty quick and sounds very mean with the flowmaster muffler.  It draws attention to itself wherever it goes and its more than just a summer car, this has been my daily driver for the last 4 years without exception, that means its handled itself quite well through 4 chicago winters without letting me down once.  I hate to sell the car I really do love it, it puts a smile on your face the second you start it up, but alas my family will soon be growing and i'm in need of a back seat.  I have no doubt in my mind that the new owner will love every minute of it just like I did.

The winning bidder agrees to a non refundable deposit of $500 to be paypaled to me within 24 hours of the auction close, and cash payment in full upon taking possession of the car within 7 days of the auctions close.  I have a clear title in hand so there won't be any screwing around needed.  If i've forgotten anything or you have any questions please email me or text me at 815-715-8969 and i'll be more than happy to answer them to the best of my ability.

2015 Chrysler 200 snags EPA ratings of 18 mpg city and 29 highway

Tue, 25 Mar 2014

While Chrysler hasn't officially announced fuel economy figures for its new 200 sedan, the information for one model has just leaked out thanks to the US Department of Energy's FuelEconomy.gov website. It certified the 200 with the 295-horsepower and 262-pound-feet 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, nine-speed automatic and all-wheel drive as getting 18-miles-per-gallon city, 29-mpg highway and 22-mpg combined.
Last year's front-wheel drive 200 with a less-powerful version of the Pentastar was rated at 19-mpg city, 29-mpg highway and 22-mpg combined. That means that buyers are getting more power and all-wheel drive traction at almost no loss in economy. However, compared to current, all-wheel drive sedan competitors, the Chrysler comes in the middle. The Ford Fusion with all-wheel drive with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder has 240 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque is somewhat down on power but bests it in economy at 22-mpg city, 31-mpg highway and 25-mpg combined. The current Subaru Legacy 3.6R loses in both metrics with 256 hp and 247 lb-ft and a rating of 18-mpg city, 25-mpg highway and 20-mpg combined. However, Subaru claims the next generation with the same engine will boast 20-mpg city, 28-mpg highway and 23-mpg combined. But these numbers are just estimates from the automaker at the moment, and they haven't yet been certified by the EPA yet.
The numbers for the four-cylinder and front-wheel drive 200 drivetrains are not yet available, but Chrysler has been promising the sedan gets an estimated 35-mpg highway with the 184-hp and 173-lb-ft Tigershark 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. We won't know for sure until it's certified, but we'll keep you posted.

Junkyard Gem: 1977 Chrysler Cordoba with Corinthian Leather

Mon, Jul 25 2016

The Chrysler Cordoba has become emblematic of an era full of underpowered, overdecorated Detroit land yachts, stuffed with plasticky heraldic crests and allusions to classy European vacation destinations. In fact, the 1975-1979 Cordoba was a pretty decent car by the standards of Malaise Era America, based on the same well-proven (if increasingly antiquated) platform used by the '69 Charger and the Plymouth Superbird, and it sold like crazy. Of course, what we remember these days is the name of the optional leather upholstery used in the Cordoba. Yes, soft ( not rich) Corinthian leather, which was a brilliant marketing name given to a cheap grade of leather from Newark, NJ. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Naturally, we must now watch the 1975 TV commercial that started it all. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. The Corinthian Leather jokes began quite soon after the Cordoba went on sale, as we can see in this 1980s Ricardo Montalban interview. This car, which I photographed a couple of weeks ago in a San Francisco Bay Area self-service wrecking yard is completely used up, and it shows signs of having spent a good decade or two abandoned in a field somewhere. Still, from the purple paint to the once-snazzy "leather" landau roof (note the molded-in stitches) to the "golden" (plastic, in fact) Cordoba medallions on the taillights, door panels, and steering wheel, the Cordoba was the closest thing to the "Super Fly" Cadillac you could buy new from Detroit. This one has the LA-series 360-cubic-inch V8 engine, which made 155 horsepower. That's 23 fewer horses than the weakest engine you can get in the US-market 2017 Toyota Camry... but try getting a Camry with soft Corinthian Leather! Chrysler officially rebrands as FCA US LLC

Tue, Dec 16 2014

Detroit's third-largest automaker has had a lot of names over the years. It was founded as the Chrysler Corporation in 1925, a name it held until 1998 when it was bought by ze Germans in 1998 to form DaimlerChrysler AG, then it went independent in 2007 under the name Chrysler LLC before being retitled once again as Chrysler Group LLC in 2009. And now the automaker headquartered in Auburn Hills, MI, is getting yet another new name. Announced today and effective immediately, the company formerly known as Chrysler will now be called FCA US LLC. That's a lot of letters, but they make a lot of sense, too: FCA stands for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the US telling us this is the company's American division and the LLC tells us it's a limited liability company – a legal classification similar to (but not quite the same as) a corporation. The announcement comes shortly after the company decided to phase out its long-serving Pentastar logo. The sum total is that the once-independent industrial giant is now formally part of a larger European parent company, owned by Fiat and (for taxation purposes, anyway) based in the Netherlands. What the company formerly known as Chrysler wants to emphasize, however, is that FCA US LLC will remain based in Auburn Hills and retain its "holdings, management team, board [and] brands." Chrysler Group LLC Announces New Company Name: FCA US LLC U.S.-based Automaker's New Name Aligns With Global Parent December 16, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Chrysler Group LLC, the Auburn Hills, Michigan-based automaker, today announced that it has changed its company name to FCA US LLC. The name change is effective immediately and follows the naming convention of its global parent company, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. (FCA), which officially adopted its new name in October when it listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The name change to FCA US LLC does not affect the company's headquarters location in Auburn Hills, Michigan, its holdings, management team, board or brands. FCA US, together with parent FCA, continues to work toward the business plan presented on Investor Day in May 2014. Additionally, the Company remains proud of its joint heritage. FCA US continues to build upon the solid foundations first established by Walter P. Chrysler in 1925 as well as a rich Fiat heritage that dates from 1899. FCA US employs more than 77,000 employees worldwide, with 96 percent of its workforce based in North America.
