1960 Chrysler 300f 413ci on 2040-cars
San Jose, California, United States
For Sale: 1960
Chrysler 300F Coupe
VIN: 8403126310 Up for sale is an original 1960 California Black Plate Chrysler 300F. The car was stored in an open field for the past 6 years. It was covered, but developed some rust along the way. It is virtually complete, with all trim parts, engine, transmission, and rear end all intact. There won’t be a laundry list of parts to chase with this car! The only parts that are known to be missing are the radiator cap and the driveshaft. We consider this vehicle as a deteriorated restoration project. The VIN indicates the car
was built in January, 1960. The date
code on the block shows that the motor was made on January 22nd,
1960. The VIN also indicates that the original color is white and presumed to be
original paint. This car was an unknown vehicle to the Chrysler 300 Club International until they were recently contacted. The VIN and Trim Plate have been submitted to the club for a new “Birthing”. I expect to hear back from the association shortly, confirming the validity of the car. According to the Chrysler 300 Club website, there were 964 Coupes produced in 1960 and only 270 known survivors to date. This car makes #271! This is a clear CA title (non-op), however, it was last registered for street use in 1974. This car does not run. Mileage as shown on the odometer reads 23,796 miles. The engine is the coveted 413 Wedge with the Cross Ram intakes and dual four barrel carburetors. All of the Cross Ram linkage is in place. If you are looking for a Virgil Exner fin car to restore, this may be one of the last available cars to buy. The car is definitely restorable, with normal California rust, and a few areas’ that should not have rust (C-Pillar) that was due to the last owner not properly caring for the car. My son and I were determined to restore this vehicle, but due to a relocation of our warehouse business we are forced to sell. The reserve is low for a car of this caliber, and they sell for well into the 5 figures when restored. We can accommodate virtually any type of carrier or transportation needs. We even have a dock high loading dock to facilitate a container for overseas transport. Please note buyer assumes all costs for transportation, however, we will (within reason) assist with the loading of the vehicle, if necessary. The car is located less than 50 miles from either the San Francisco or Oakland ports for overseas freight. Unfortunately, I do not have a lot of history on the car, but if you have specific questions regarding condition, etc. please feel free to contact us. Serious parties interested in seeing this car in person may do so by scheduling an appointment. This vehicle is being sold as-is, where-is. We have additional photos (about 100 total) that will be provided upon request. Good Luck to all Bidders! Here is your chance to own a rare
piece of automobile history.

Queens man knows how to party, disrupts Mets game with van
Fri, Jun 24 2016A New Yorker and all-around true American hero took his weekend festivities a little too far and landed himself in front of a judge last week. According to NBC New York, Nelson Hidalgo drove his unassuming Sprinter to Citi Field on Saturday, June 18, around 10:45 p.m. While the Mets were getting thrashed by the Braves, Hidalgo pulled up to the intersection of 127th street and 35th avenue. Hiding within the van's cargo area were 80 speakers driven by powerful amps, around $20,000 worth of car audio. Hidalgo opened the Sprinter's rear doors, deployed his amazing speaker system, cracked a cold Coors Light, and unleashed hell. Noise complaints immediately started flooding in to the police, including one from the Mets' bullpen. Soon, Hidalgo amassed a sizable crowd who had come to rock out and marvel at the lunacy of the Sprinter's sound system. The NYPD showed up eventually and, undaunted by noise and the crowd, clapped the irons on poor Nelson. The Sprinter was impounded and Hildago was charged with second-degree criminal nuisance, general noise prohibition, disorderly conduct, and obstructing the driver's view. "I know it's illegal, but it's the weekend," he explained to the cops as they hauled him away. Once they had him in custody, the NYPD realized that Hidalgo was the person they had been looking for in connection with absurdly loud music coming from various city junkyards in the dead of night. Hidalgo, who has no prior record, spent the night in the slammer but was released the next morning with no bail on the promise that he return for his court date on August 1. Related Video:
Fiat To Pay $3.65 Billion For Remaining Chrysler Shares
Thu, Jan 2 2014Italian automaker Fiat SpA announced Wednesday that it reached an agreement to acquire the remaining shares of Chrysler for $3.65 billion in payments to a union-controlled trust fund. Fiat already owns 58.5 percent of Chrysler's shares, with the remaining 41.5 percent held by a United Auto Workers union trust fund that pays health care bills for retirees. Under the deal, Fiat will make an initial payment of $1.9 billion to the fund, plus an additional $1.75 billion upon closing the deal. Chrysler will also make additional payments totaling $700 million to the fund as part of an agreement with the UAW. The deal is expected to close on or before Jan. 20, according to a statement from Chrysler. Sergio Marchionne, CEO of both Fiat and Chrysler, has long sought to acquire the union's shares in order to combine the two companies. "The unified ownership structure will now allow us to fully execute our vision of creating a global automaker that is truly unique in terms of mix of experience, perspective and know-how, a solid and open organization," Marchionne said in a statement issued by Turin, Italy-based Fiat. The deal eliminates the need for an initial public offering of the union fund's stake, which analysts had previously valued at $5.6 billion. Fiat went to court last year seeking a judgment on the price, but the trial date was set for next September. Marchionne can't spend Chrysler's cash on Fiat's operations unless the companies merge. In recent months he made it clear that he preferred to settle the dispute without an IPO, but filed the paperwork for the offering in September at the trust's request. Chrysler's profits have helped prop up Fiat on the balance sheet as the Italian automaker struggles in a down European market. The Auburn Hills, Mich., automaker earned $464 million in the third quarter on U.S. sales of the Ram pickup and Jeep Grand Cherokee, its ninth-straight profitable quarter. The results boosted Fiat, which earned $260 million in the quarter. Without Chrysler's contribution, Fiat would have lost $340 million. UAW/Unions Chrysler Fiat
NYT profiles Blue Nelson, a reclusive and interesting CA car collector
Thu, 25 Sep 2014If it weren't for his Dale Earnhardt Sr. looks, Blue Nelson could be one one of those soft-spoken, nondescript guys whom you meet briefly and never learn much more about. However, as The New York Times shows in a recent profile and video, behind closed doors, Nelson keeps a fascinatingly eclectic collection of automotive oddities and vintage bicycles.
While his main career is in the movie industry, Nelson's other job is as a car hunter. He takes on clients searching for a specific model and helps them find and restore the dream vehicle that they're after. Hiring him takes some dedication, though, because Nelson doesn't advertise his services. "If people want to find me, they know how to find me," he says in the video.
Beyond being an automotive private detective, Nelson has a fantastically varied collection of vehicles of his own. He likes to have models that people don't usually see, and his garage holds a classic Chrysler New Yorker and an extremely rare Rometsch convertible. Although, the one that means the most to him is the 1962 Porsche 356 convertible that Blue came home in as a baby. Check out the video to learn more about Nelson and his philosophy about forming a bond with a car.
