The new Traverse has a smoothly styled exterior, with styling details--including the front grille--borrowed from recent Chevrolet cars such as the Malibu. Inside, it also offers an experience that's more car-like.That observation rings true in the way the Traverse drives as well. A new 3.6-liter overhead-cam V-6 engine powers the Traverse responsively, making an impressive 288 horsepower. The power is brought to the pavement via a smooth-shifting six-speed automatic transmission and a front-wheel drive system that really hugs the road. The Traverse promises to be significantly more economical to run compared to large truck-like SUVs, thanks to an aerodynamic design, fuel-saving direct-injection technology, and a 'tall' overdrive sixth gear for relaxed highway cruising. EPA fuel economy ratings range up to 24 mpg on the highway for this front-wheel-drive model. The Traverse shows more of its car underpinnings underneath, with variable-effort rack-and-pinion steering and a low center of mass for stable cornering. The four-wheel independent suspension allows a compliant ride yet a towing capacity of up to 5,200 pounds--comparable to some truck-based mid-size SUVs. Safety was given priority in the Traverse's engineering and feature list. Stabilitrak electronic stability control, with rollover mitigation technology, is standard, along with anti-lock brakes, Panic Brake Assist, and six airbags, including head-curtain side bags that cover all three rows of seating. . An extremely roomy interior is one of the Traverse's strengths. The three rows provide seating for up to seven or eight.  The bench slides fore and aft for easier access to the third row or added seating space. There are plenty of bins and cubbies all around as well as ten cup holders. The LT package adds a power driver's seat, heated mirrors, automatic climate control, a trip computer and a parking-assist system, and 18 inch aluminum wheels.  The gray cloth interior is super comfortable, and provides plenty of legroom for even the tallest adult.  The dual air conditioning is super cold, and ready for those hot Texas summers.  The silver exterior is free from any damage, and definitely shows to have been very well kept.  The tires are loaded with tread, and ready for your next trip!  Feel free to give us a call at 979-733-8444 with any questions at all.  Check our feedback and buy with confidence.  Thanks for looking!

Weekly Recap: Revisting the BBC report that ended Jeremy Clarkson's Top Gear run

Sat, Mar 28 2015

Jeremy Clarkson's long run as a Top Gear host has come to an end, and the reason is clear: His physical assault on one of the show's producers crossed a line, and the government-owned BBC couldn't tolerate it. The incident between Clarkson and Top Gear producer Oisin Tymon was initially described as a "fracas," and Clarkson was suspended. But his popularity and widespread support – even British Prime Minister David Cameron weighed in – suggested that the controversial Clarkson might be given yet another chance. The BBC put this to rest Wednesday when it sacked Clarkson and revealed the findings of its investigation. The report spelled out how Clarkson struck Tymon on the patio of a North Yorkshire (UK) hotel, leaving him with a bloodied, swollen lip. It was severe enough that the producer sought medical treatment. During and after the attack, Clarkson shouted expletives at Tymon and threatened to fire him. The noise carried into the hotel's dining room and even to a bedroom. Local police investigated the incident, but Tymon isn't pressing charges. The huge audience numbers, Clarkson's popularity and the high-octane excitement of Top Gear all melted away in the eyes of BBC director-general Tony Hall, who saw an attacker and a victim. "For me a line has been crossed," he said in a statement. "There cannot be one rule for one and one rule for another dictated by either rank, or public relations and commercial considerations." In that moment, Clarkson was the bad guy, though he was actually the one who reported it to the network and made repeated attempts to apologize to Tymon. He's also urged the media to leave the producer alone. Hall voiced regret in the statement that announced Clarkson's contract would not be renewed, but the BBC decided to move on. Rumors are swirling about possible replacements for Clarkson. The network says it wants to continue Top Gear in 2016 and is looking to air the rest of this season's episodes. Despite the controversy, the show has a global audience of 350 million viewers and is one of the BBC's most valuable properties. It's unclear what Clarkson's co-hosts, James May and Richard Hammond, will do, as their contracts were also reportedly up to be renewed. Here's why automakers roll out those Texas-themed pickup trucks

Thu, Sep 29 2016

Every year, automakers with a full-size truck link make a big show of the Texas State Fair, usually involving a reveal of a new model. Sometimes they show a whole new truck, and other times a special edition centered on the Lone Star state. While some people might write this off as a quirk of the industry, others might be wondering, "What's the big deal with Texas?" As it turns out, part of the big deal with Texas is big truck sales. According to Dave Sullivan, product analysis manager at AutoPacific, Texas buys more trucks than any other state in the country. It's not a small margin either. Edmunds.com, one in five trucks sold in the US are sold in Texas. The state also accounts for 15 percent of the country's large truck sales, which is more than twice that of California, the second largest truck market in America. Even when you break down sales only in Texas, trucks are a huge piece of the pie - Sullivan says that a quarter of new vehicle sales in Texas are trucks. One in five trucks sold in the US are sold in Texas. But it's not just sales that make truck builders give attention to Texas. As Sullivan explained, "Pickups are life in Texas." Both he and Hugh Milne, marketing and advertising manager for the Chevy Silverado line, said that trucks are key fixtures in Texas society, as both work trucks and luxury vehicles (or Texas Cadillacs as Milne called them). Milne said Texas is so important in the truck market that if you want to be successful in the rest of the country, "you've got to be successful in Texas." As for the State Fair, it has become a prime location for reveals in part because of the importance of the Texas market and because of how big the fair is. Milne also revealed that the State Fair also hosts its own auto show, so it's an ideal venue for a vehicle introduction. So there you have it. Why do truck builders obsess over Texas? It's because Texas obsesses over trucks. When you have one market that loves your product that much, you give it the attention it deserves.
