2002 Chevrolet Tracker Base Sport Utility 4-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
Julian, California, United States
This is an off road project car, or potential dinghy (although it is not set up to be towed yet, dinghy is a common use of a Tracker.) It is the Chevy branded cousin of the Suzuki Vitara, with Manual 5 speed transmission, traditional 4 wheel drive (2WD, 4WD and 4LO.) It is in fair mechanical condition (actually running quite well), but has high mileage (almost 269,000) and currently needs new tires/alignment etc. Many dings, some weather stripping is loose too (see pictures) and uses some oil. Original owner. Bronze Mist is the factory color. It has taken us places that no small SUV really should, and the underside and some of the body dings demonstrate this! Again, this is a project, a beater, a low cost dinghy, or a just a tough small SUV to keep on your dirt road access property that will get you into town when you don't want to drive you nicer vehicles through mud, washouts, or snow. Pick up only at rural location in Southern California. (Julian.)

Feds open investigation into Chevy Express, Ford Freestar rust issues
Wed, 28 Dec 2011'Tis the season... for road salt. And with that, comes rust. And what does rust bring? Well, for Ford and General Motors, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation. According to The Detroit News, NHTSA is looking into potential recalls issues with Chevrolet Express vans and Ford Freestar minivans.
The feds have received five complaints that rust has caused leaking fuel filler pipes on 2003 Express vans. Separately, seven complaints have been filed over excessive rust in the rear wheel wells of 2004 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. The Freestar and Monterey went out of production in 2007. Neither issue has resulted in any crashes or injuries, according to the report.
Ford, Toyota clean up in Best Car For The Money Awards
Fri, 22 Feb 2013The U.S. News Best Cars for the Money Awards picks winners by looking at the average transaction price, five-year total cost of ownership, the regard a car has from the automotive press, reliability figures from J.D. Power and Associates and safety data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The result, according to the magazine, is "the best combination of critical acclaim and long-term value."
Ford nabbed six of the 21 categories that received awards this year, the Focus, Fusion, Fusion Hybrid, Taurus, Escape and Edge getting trophies. Toyota and its Lexus and Scion sub-brands took another five, the Tacoma and Tundra owning the two categories given to pickup trucks. The other ten awards were split between Honda with three, Buick with two, and one each for Subaru, BMW, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Mazda.

Survey says $25k barrier is a problem for EVs
Sun, 01 Dec 2013
The majority of consumers are more or less priced out of the market.
Electric cars are gaining popularity with the general public, but are they still too expensive? According to a survey 1,084 consumers by Navigant Research, a consulting firm located in Boulder, CO, 71 percent want their next car to cost under $25,000, while 41 percent won't go a cent above $20K. Looks like people are even thriftier than we'd originally thought.
