Selling our SUV to get a pickup truck to use on our ranch. This is our daily driver. No issues hopping in, hitting the key and driving asbolutely anywhere. We've maintained this truck meticulously at the dealer when needed, and with private shops for the mundane things like oil changes and tire rotations. Windows are tinted and there is a added tint strip along the top of the windshield to help out with the Texas sun. Air conditioning (including auxiliary/passenger area air) works great!! Has aftermarket rubber floor mats but is missing the OEM carpet mat for the front passenger side. Has a receiver hitch and factory trailer plug-in. Have extensive service history file available, owners manual, etc. This is a really good, clean and reliable truck. As shown clearly in the photos, there is a dent in the hood (from a wooden beam falling against it), a dent in the liftgate and paint off the right rear of the bumper (from an Expedition not quite getting stopped in time) but the backup assist, liftgate and lifgate glass all works just fine.

Listing for well below book/bank value. Reserve is very fair and buy it now is on par or slightly below market prices. Texas State Inspection and Registration stickers are good through May of 2015. Plates NOT included with the truck.

Bid with confidence. This is a great deal for the next owner! We live out west of San Antonio but would be happy to make arrangements to meet up with serious buyers. Out of state buyers: we're more than happy to help out by dropping it off at an auto transporter in San Antonio if necessary. If you prefer to fly in and drive it home, we can pick you up from the San Antonio airport. Clear Texas title in hand.

Thanks and God Bless.

Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.

General Motors shaking up its marketing... again

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

One of the things that dogs the full comeback of General Motors is the instability of its marketing. That part of the automaker got yet another big shakeup today when GM confirmed what I have been tweeting for a few days - strong rumors that the Chevrolet and Cadillac ad accounts are walking to new ad agencies.
Cadillac, GM's luxury brand, is going into review from Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis and the indications are that Campbell-Ewald, Chevy's old ad shop, will end up with most or all of it. C-E just announced that it was moving from its long-time home in Warren, MI to a new downtown Detroit office next to Ford Field, just blocks from GM.
The other shoe to drop shortly will be the shift of GM's most important brand, Chevy, from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners of San Francisco to McCann-Erickson of Troy, MI. McCann used to be the agency for Buick and GMC, as well as GM's corporate advertising, and has retained some pieces of business over the last few years. Sources have even told us that it was McCann that did a lot of the creative work on Chevy's new ad platform, Find New Roads. (Not to be confused with a former McCann tagline for Saab, "Find Your Own Road.")
