We have for sale a 1998 K1500 6.5 diesel Suburban.
It has approx 240k miles on it.
We have owned this truck years and it has been a reliable family truckster.
The stock 6.5 is not a powerhouse when compared to a Powerstroke or Cummins engine, but treated well it is a very reliable power plant. I have performed some modest "upgrades" to improve its service and power and as a result this truck has some grunt!
You don't see many 6.5's left out there and you are sure to grab some attention with this one.
It really came alive when I installed a
4" turbo back exhaust (down-pipe is 3.5") with a 5" SS slant cut tip. There is a muffler in place as part of the "Diamond Eye" system. There is a large K&N cold air intake. I replaced and relocated the PMD with a cooler to the front grill and it has a  #9 resistor in place. The turbo wastegate is fully functional. The turbo is healthy and makes a nice soft whistle. I also replaced the crossover pipe with a free flowing stainless steel system from Heath diesel.
This is an old truck but well built and has many durable miles left to go.
This was our family truck for the past few years and my children have done some work on her interior, though nothing too terrible; you might find a french fry in a pinch!
I change the oil every 3000 miles with Rotella 15-40 and always a k&n oil filter.
And I treat it annually with Prolong friction modifier.
The engine starts right up in the worst cold but we did use the block warmer as routine in the winter.
Over the years I have replaced the following:
Tires (of course), Air Intake, AC compressor/dryer, rotors and drums, ball joints, shocks, fuel sending unit and plumbing, fuel lift pump (on rail), dash controls and climate servos, wastegate solenoid, rear bumper, steering box, block warmer and harness and other misc stuff that has kept her going well.
The things to be noted are:
The dash has two lights on. One for ABS (not sure why), and the other for the airbag.
The air bag light came on after I replaced the steering box and broke the clock spring in the steering wheel.
It can be fixed relatively easily I just did not get to it.
The fuel gauge gets unreliable below half a tank but is fairly predictable despite this lack of instantaneous accuracy.
The truck can get 15mpg or better depending on your style of driving but 15 is an average for non highway driving.
There are many small dings around but nothing gruesome.
The oil pressure sensor was recently replaced by me, but the NAPA brand sensor seems to read too high, so another sensor from SS diesel might be a good idea, but I am confident the engine has very stable and normal oil pressure (before replacing the sensor it was a constant 40psi). I replaced the sensor while on a hunt to fix a hesitation problem which I ultimately found to be the pickup sock on the fuel sending unit.
I would not describe the vehicle as being in pristine condition by any means but it is fine and a nice robust truck that I would drive anywhere.
It has a hitch setup and 7/4 combo trailer wiring receptacle.
I should mention that I have consistenly tried to fend off the under body rust and as a result it's pretty clean under there.
The exterior driver's door handle bezel cracked for the second time and I did a "fix" with a pop rivet that might offend some sensibilities but it works!  The transmission position indicator (the red marker on the gauge cluster P-R-N-D-3-2) does not function work so you have to use your good sense to "know" what gear you are in. I think that the lower ball joint on the passenger side is slightly worn and will eventually need attention.
The tires are at about 50% but look meaty and still offer good traction.
This is a heavy truck and it does very well in bad conditions by virtue of its well distributed weight.  Please feel free to come and look at the truck.
I welcome the inspections as I want to provide full disclosure.
I would like to keep this truck but I have many  vehicles and we have a newer Suburban that the kids have taken a liking to.
The most recent issue that had this one parked for a bit was a fuel sending unit SOCK believe or not.
I replaced this a couple years back and the after market sock is unfortunately a piss poor design and would collapse on itself restricting fuel delivery and causing a driveability issue to say the least.
I have replaced the sock with a nice diesel specific part from SS Diesel and replaced the factory sending hoses with silicone braided hoses and all manor of tasty fittings from mcmsaterr carr.
Oh, I also didn't want to drop the huge (and full!) fuel tank again so I surgically cut an access hole in the rear floor to access the sending unit and hose fittings.
I patched it with a .25" aluminum plate and riveted it back in place with structural steel rivets. Looks pretty good if you ask me.....emblematic of its overall charm so to speak.
I have been driving this fix for several days and the problem is fixed.
The four wheel drive works well including the auto select feature and the low range.
The factory head unit is history and there is a kenwood CD player/receiver in its place with USB port for playback of whatever you got and it will of course charge/play from your iphone!
Its a good value and can pull a house if need be or just your boat. So with that come have a look.....I'll give you a tour.

Hot Wheels Camaro to make big debut at Indy

Fri, 05 Apr 2013

Chevrolet handed over the keys to 33 Hot Wheels Camaro Convertible Indianapolis 500 festival cars this week. Race directors get the luxury of driving the droptops around Indianapolis in an ongoing tradition with roots all the way back to the 1960s. The stunt is supposed to remind area residents that the Indy 500 is right around the corner. The cars are our first look at the special Camaro Hot Wheels Edition in convertible form, and they are slated to head to dealers after a one-time production run. The cars also represent the first time in history full-size Hot Wheels have been offered for sale by an automaker.
The cars will be available in both the previously seen coupe bodystyle and this convertible configuration, and will feature metallic blue paint and special wheels with the iconic redline accent. Buyers will be able to choose between the V6-powered 2LT trim and the V8-powered 2SS guise.
Hot Wheels says the original Custom Camaro toy was one of the original 16 1:64-scale diecasts, and it remains one of the company's most valuable collector items today.

Next Chevy Volt will be 2016 model and ride on new chassis

Fri, Mar 7 2014

What do we know about the 2016 Chevy Volt? Well, for now, all we can do is try to put the puzzle together without the box. Thankfully, a new batch of pieces has arrived from a new report in Edmunds, which says that the 2016 model year will introduce the second generation of a car that hasn't been dramatically updated since it went on sale in 2010. The new Volt is getting an "evolutionary styling change" and will ride on a new front-drive platform that has been developed by General Motors. GM's Kevin Kelly told AutoblogGreen that he has "no comment on future products," but he did acknowledge that Chevrolet is working on a second-generation Volt, "but I can't say anything about timing." Everybody already knew that a next-gen Volt is coming, so that's not a surprise. What we don't know is any real concrete information on the car itself. The few tidbits of information we do have help define the outlines of the next version of Chevy's halo car, but they're not confirmed yet. For the record, they range from the eye-raising (a $10,000 price drop) to the logical (20 percent more electric range). We can't see the whole picture yet, but the pieces do point to the 2016 Volt, which would be released next year sometime, being a much bigger deal than the last update, when the Volt's range was increased by three electric miles thanks to a battery capacity increase of 16 kWh to 16.5.

McLaren, Koenigsegg, Toyota, Ford, Dodge and Corvette Lego kits announced for 2021

Tue, May 4 2021

Lego has announced a slew of car-themed sets for 2021. The six kits comprise nine vehicles and fall under the brick pusher's Speed Champion line of official OEM-licensed kits. News of their arrival comes from German toy retailer JB Spielwaren's pre-order listings, which show three single-car sets and three dual-car sets of matched marques. Starting with the McLaren Elva roadster, the kit consists of 263 pieces and is finished in blue. It seems to have a difficult time capturing the curves of the real-life Elva, but there's only so much you can do with a bunch of plastic blocks. Lego has made several other McLaren kits before, including the Senna, 720S, and a more advanced Senna GTR for the Technics line. Next up is the Koenigsegg Jesko, made up of 280 pieces and finished in white. Though the real-life Jesko is still curvy, this kit does a better job of replicating its aggressive maw, vents and cantilevered rear wing. Rounding out the single-car sets is the 299-piece Toyota GR Supra in yellow. This marks the first time Toyota has lent their license to Lego. Again, it struggles a bit to represent the curvy Supra, relying on printed details like logos and headlights to identify. On the other hand, the Chevrolet two-car does a stupendous job with the 1968 Corvette. The C3 is instantly recognizable as such. The C8-R race car it's paired with suffers from the same issues as some of the previous cars, though. The set contains 512 pieces, and funnily enough the C8 driver has short hair while the C3 driver sports a period-correct wavy mane. The next set is a 627-piece Mopar-themed pair, including a purple (Plum Crazy?) 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A and an SRT top fuel dragster. The race car is spot on, but the Challenger was probably tough to make given the width restrictions. It looks a couple of pegs too narrow compared to the wide proportions of the real deal. Last but not least, the Ford set contains a Bronco R and Ford GT Heritage Edition. Consisting of 660 pieces, the set does an excellent job of representing both cars. The GT looks faithful in its Gulf livery, and the Bronco R looks more like a real Bronco than the actual Bronco R race truck. All in all, it's always fun to see more Lego sets with real cars, and we're glad to see more manufacturers added to the roster. The single-car sets are recommended for ages 7 and up, while the double-car sets have an 8 years and up rating. Price in U.S.
