I would drive this Suburban across country right now, that is how good I feel it is. We owned since 90K, previous owner replaced tranny, due to light shimmy when you reached 65 mph. Come to find out everything was fine, the new tires he had put on has an issue. Once replaced the tires, never had a shimmy again. We have always kept the rig in good repair, some updates we have done: new head gasket (last year), front heater motor, all 4 new shocks, new tires - estimate about 75% left, newer in tank fuel pump, grill guard, full length running boards, plug wires, tune ups in the past to keep running smooth, newer updated stereo system professionally installed. This is a 17 year old rig so there are some scratches, paint chips, ding in front fender."

1996 Chevy Suburban 1500 LS 4x4 **NEVER BEEN SMOKED IN**
195,112 miles, but I trust this suburban to start any day. I would take off across country in a heartbeat-been an excellent trust worthy vehicle. Can't say enough for what a great rig it has been. I hope my new one is half as good. That is the only reason I am selling, I don't need two Suburban's.

5.7l 350 Vortec engine, Bulldog Remote Start, AT, trailer towing package/receiver hitch, dual heat/AC, AC is good and cold, holds a charge well, CC, Power Door Locks, Power Windows, Roof rack/rails on top, full sized spare and original cover intact and good shape, 8 passenger seating, third row bench, in real good shape. Has been taken care of it's whole life, regular oil changes/belts/tune-ups, just some of the updates: New Head gasket last year, few years ago changed the front heater motor, all 4 new shocks, newer good tires estimate 75% on rubber, grille guard, running boards, has bigger floor mats in front, and 2nd row, back cargo has big mat as well.

The only bad is there is a ding in the front driver's side fender when a deer ran into us going down the highway several years ago, and the rear driver's side window on the cargo doors has scratches on it. Looks like someone scraped off frost with something sharp. Been there since before we bought it, doesn't impede in sight looking out so we never changed it out. It is 17 years old, so there are some chips in the paint, and scratches here and there, but it has been taken care of all the years we had it. Would make a great crew car to travel back and forth to a work site, or for a young family just starting out needing a rig to haul lot's of kid's comfortably and all the kid cargo that goes with that crew!

Race Recap: Rolex 24 at Daytona was fast and feisty

Mon, Jan 26 2015

Let the record show that victory at the 2015 Rolex 24 at Daytona went to the No. 02 Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates Target/Ford EcoBoost Riley DP driven by Verizon IndyCar drivers Scott Dixon and Tony Kanaan and NASCAR drivers Jamie McMurray and Kyle Larson. The winner did 740 laps to cover 2,634.3 miles in 24 hours and 57.667 seconds. That's a statement to this year's pace in spite of 18 cautions, two more than last year: the Michael Shank Racing Ligier got pole with a time of 1:39.194, slower than last year's pole time of 1:38.270; however, the winning car last year only did 695 laps. The fight for top honors was shaved to a four-car battle over the first third of the event. The No. 02 Ganassi car took the lead on the first lap, swapping it well into the night with the No. 01 Ganassi car, the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP, and the defending champion No. 5 Action Express Corvette DP, all of them staying within about 20 seconds of one another. The Action Express car had a fuel connector come loose and lost three laps getting towed back to the pits to have it reattached, but was back in the lead 18 hours in. The No. 01 Ganassi car dropped out with recurring clutch problems 22 hours in, retiring not long after. A race-within-the-race is where the concluding action happened, a seven minute, 30-second dash from the end of the last caution to the checkered flag. During the penultimate pit stops with an hour to go, Dixon was in second place followed Jordan Taylor in the Wayne Taylor Racing DP into the pits but beat him out, taking the lead. The Action Express car was in third. In the last pit stops of the race, Dixon gained even more time, getting a four-second advantage over Taylor. Then a full-course caution came out twenty minutes before the finish when a Prototype Challenge car hit the wall and caught fire, bunching up the field. That closed the pits, but the Wayne Taylor Racing car had to pit during that yellow because of a miscalculation of driver time. No driver can be behind the wheel for more than four hours in a six-hour period but Jordan Taylor was going to go over, so he came in to swap out for brother Ricky. That cost the team any chance of second place, since they took an additional drive-through penalty for entering closed pits. When the track went green again, Sebastien Bourdais in the Action Express car stayed all over Dixon for the final five laps but couldn't get around him.

Take a close look at the guts of the Chevy Volt battery, powertrain

Sat, Aug 9 2014

Just how intimate would you like to get with the powertrain in a Chevy Volt? If you're anything like YouTube user d55guy, then spending a half hour filming yourself taking apart the battery pack, motor, inverter and more for a look inside sounds like your idea of fun. After all, this way you get to see the cooling system, the heavy safety kill switch and count up the individual cells in the battery modules. Fun! Turns out, we also enjoy languidly paced Volt dissection video goodness, and we think you might want to see it as well. So, we've embedded two videos below and if you don't have a better understanding of how the Volt is put together after watching them, well, at least you can't say we never tried to show you anything. Given that what's really happening here is the organized 'destruction' of an expensive and potentially dangerous object, let's talk safety. There's a serious disclaimer at the beginning of the videos and on the YouTube description page, but we feel the need to repeat the gist of it here: do not try this at home. The creator of the video says he is a trained engineer and has been doing things like this "for the better part of a decade," so he apparently knows what he's doing. With that in mind, watch it all below. When you're done seeing the insides of a Volt powertrain up close, if you need more filmed EV dissection/destruction, check out this video designed for first responders approaching a damaged Tesla Model S. 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray convertible headed for Geneva debut

Mon, 28 Jan 2013

While most of the world is still coming down from all the hype surrounding the debut of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this month, we're already looking to the future. And according to Autoweek, the next chapter in the C7 story will unfold at the Geneva Motor Show in March. That's right, General Motors is reportedly using the Swiss stage as its venue to debut the Corvette Stingray convertible.
If this strikes you as odd, you aren't alone. After all, with a car that's such an American icon, we'd fully expect Chevrolet to unveil it here on our shores in either Chicago or New York. But according to Autoweek, GM is looking to boost export sales of its halo car, and since the C7 was engineered to compete with the world's best and brightest, showing it off in Geneva is somewhat of a smart move. What's more, those with sharp memories will recall that GM used the Geneva expo to debut the sixth-generation C6 Corvette convertible back in March 2004, so there's also a precedent.
Details surrounding the Corvette Stingray convertible are still slim, though we fully expect the 6.2-liter V8 and choice of either six-speed automatic or seven-speed manual transmissions to carry over unchanged. Prototypes spotted on the road showed the car fitted with a cloth convertible roof, as well.
