Up for Auction:  1984 Chevrolet Suburban, Silverado Package with a 6.2L diesel engine and only 59,500 original miles.

This truck does NOT have four wheel drive (4x4) or air conditioning.  This is a rear wheel drive truck with slip differential and a tow package.  Please read this listing thoroughly.

Great condition for a 30 (almost) year old truck.  This was my daily driver till I recently changed jobs.  Solid, dependable, cool looking truck, that is huge and can haul your family or your gear.  Plus it is a diesel, so it gets decent mileage considering the size/weight of it.  I bought this off of the original owners (garaged its whole life), who apparently did not leave their town that often.  It required some work initially, replaced some original components/parts, to enure it could be my daily.  I have driven this from Boston to Ohio and back, sat in August bumper to bumper traffic, and started it in February (plugged in) and never had an issue.  It is a solid ride, not a show car, but a cool, reliable truck that gets many looks or people coming up to you to say that they used to have one.

New parts and or work done since I purchased it.
-New radiator
-New upper and lower hoses
-New fuel filter
-2 new batteries
-New halogen headlights
-New blue carpet floor mats
-8 new glow plugs
-New glow plug relay
-New glow plug solenoid
-New master cylinder and brake lines bled
-New windshield wiper blades
-New/Rebuilt diesel injection pump
-New oil filter with oil change
-New Chevy road mudflaps
-4 New Kelly Safari Truck Tires
-New Chevy mudflaps
-New Front Bench Seat Cover
-Previous owner replaced entire exhaust system less than 8 years ago, solid.

Full Disclosure
1.  The headliner is sagging. I have held it up with strips of Formica.
2.  The radio cuts out sometimes, must be an electrical connection.  A slap on the dash gets it started again.
3.  Driver side rear panel has two paint discolorations in the silver/grey area. About 3" diameter each. Not sure why this is.  They have been touched up with grey paint.
4.  Driver side also has a scratch in the silver/grey paint area. About 2' long.  Touched up with grey paint.
5.  Overall the rust is minor for a truck of this vintage, and spending its whole life in New England.  Previous owners had a Rusty Jones undercoating applied when purchased, which is why it has held up this well.  No structural rust (frame, body, and mounts are solid), just mostly surface rust if there is any.  Except for passenger side wheel well there was a 2" hole, was treated and covered with a stainless steel patch.  Also the bottom edge of the 3 out of the 4 doors, only on the interior face (where it is compressed against the gasket when the doors are closed) had some bubbling and splitting due to rust.  I cleaned this out, treated with Rust Bullet and painted with blue body paint.
6.  Due to the age of the truck, fluids need to be added occasionally, I keep an eye on the levels.  But that is too be expected.  The transmission has a minor leak our of the rear seal, where it meets the drive shaft coupling.  Has not affected the operation of the truck, shifts smoothly and appropriately.
7.  This is a 30 year old truck.  It is not new, it is not perfect, it is not a show truck.  But it is a solid, cool, workhorse that's in really good condition and can be your daily driver if you are kind and take care of it.

I repeat this truck does not have 4x4 or Air conditioning.

The only reason I am auctioning this truck is because I took a new job 6 months ago which requires me driving 500+ miles a week and head into Boston quite frequently. Needless to say this is not the truck for easy city parking.  Please send along questions if you have any.

This truck is being sold as is.  There are no warranties expressed or implied.   I reserve the right to end this auction at my discretion.  Pick up and/or delivery arrangements are the full responsibility of the winning bidder.

Happy Bidding.

Sunday Drive: Spying an automotive future of performance

Sun, May 13 2018

I spy, with my little eye ... the future of the automotive world here in the United States. That pretty much sums up this week's Sunday Drive, in which we pull out the most popular stories on Autoblog of the previous week and try to draw some sort of conclusion as to what binds them all together. This week, it's spy shots, starting with one of the biggest and baddest muscle cars the world has ever seen: the Dodge Challenger Hellcat. The Hellish coupe gets a new hood for 2019 with dual scoops, but that's about the only meaningful change for the new model year. No matter. As long as it's packing 700-plus horsepower under those two hood scoops, all will be right with the world. Moving on, we take keep the performance angle but move it from the street to the dirt with a new version of the Chevy Colorado ZR2 that we think is probably called the Bison. We think it'll keep the high-tech suspension bits of the regular ZR2, but add expedition gear that may include a snorkel and a winch. Which, if true, is pretty dang cool. Keeping the truck theme is the 2019 GMC Sierra. There's nothing particularly noteworthy about the trim level in which the truck was spied, and that's what makes this specific example interesting. Base-model trucks almost never get much attention, but they sell in droves to workers who need an honest-to-goodness truck for work or play and don't care about bells, whistles, or massive chrome badges. And finally we have the 2018 Jeep Wrangler, which is on fire on the sales floor right now. But those are all V6-powered Wranglers flying off the showroom floor. Soon, a turbocharged four-cylinder engine option will become available, and now we know that it will return up to 23 miles per gallon in the city and 25 on the highway. That makes it the most fuel efficient Wrangler that Jeep has ever sold. As always, stay tuned to Autoblog this week for all the automotive news that's fit to publish. 2019 Dodge Challenger Hellcat with twin-scoop hood spied with no camouflage Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison caught testing 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 spied in base trim level 2018 Jeep Wrangler four-cylinder fuel economy revealed Spy Photos Chevrolet Dodge GMC Jeep Truck Coupe SUV Off-Road Vehicles Performance dodge challenger srt hellcat sunday drive

2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra debut all-new designs, three new engines

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

General Motors has finally dropped the curtain on the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and 2014 GMC Sierra. Both trucks have undergone substantial revisions with updated versions of the company's 4.3-liter V6, 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 engines. In a shot across the bows of both Ford and Chrysler, GM says it won't use a V6 engine adapted from passenger car applications. Instead, it developed the 4.3-liter engine based on its proven truck-duty architecture.
All three mills will boast direct injection fuel systems as well as a new cylinder head design. Combined with a revised piston, the new engines feature a smaller combustion chamber with a compression ratio of 11:1 or higher depending on the application. Cylinder deactivation and continuously variable valve timing are all part of the recipe, and each engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with auto grade breaking. So far, no fuel economy or horsepower figures have been released, though GM says the new engines will best their predecessors in both areas.
Outside, the trucks feature a number of enhancements to reduce drag and wind noise, and GM claims both the Silverado and Sierra will offer buyers some of the quietest cabins in the class. Extended cab models now feature front-hinged rear doors to allow easier access to the back passenger area, and Crew Cab buyers can now select between a five-foot, eight-inch bed or a six-foot, six-inch bed. Buyers with a mind toward going off road will also rejoice in the return of the Z71 package, complete with Rancho shocks, front tow hooks and additional under-body protection.

Hot air balloons caught in high winds drag fullsize SUV

Mon, Jul 20 2015

A sudden storm front whipped up enough wind to send some hot air balloons flying into the air in Wisconsin over the weekend. One ballon proved so energetic that it was able to drag a fullsize SUV across a field and into a stand of tents. The freak accident occurred at Balloonfest in Waterford, Wisconsin. Spectators were horrified as balloons dragged handlers to the ground and launched with terrified pilots clinging to their baskets. Organizers had started packing up the colorful balloons due to ominous storm clouds when the wind kicked up. "Happened just like that; it was crazy," Nathan Fricke, crew member, told Fox 6. Winds were clocked at 40 to 50 miles per hour. A balloon caught in the wind dragged a large SUV (we think a Suburban or Yukon XL) hundreds of feet and into a cluster of tents on the edge of the staging area where balloons were on display for festival goers. Considering that the SUV surely weighs well over 5,000 pounds, it's lucky that no one was injured in the incident. News Source: Fox6Now Weird Car News Chevrolet GM GMC SUV
