2006 Chevy Silverado 3500 pickup, 6.6 LBZ Duramax, 6 Speed Allison Automatic, 2 wheel drive. This started life as a cab and chassis pickup that was used as a delivery vehicle for a nearby NAPA auto parts store. They ran it for 329,000 miles and then hit a deer with it. They had a ranch hand replacement bumper on it when they hit the deer, so the damage really didn't look too bad. Unfortunately, the grille guard rolled back into the hood hard enough that it leaned the radiator support back and the fan hit the radiator. I have a body shop and also help out on the family farm, so I bought it, and fixed it myself just to use as a puller for the farm and a service truck. I replaced the hood, left fender, grille, radiator support, radiator, transmission cooler, and all the transmission lines with new OEM parts. The lights were out of another pickup I had, and I traded the damaged ranch hand bumper for the stock bumper that is currently on it. There was no frame damage other than the bumper brackets that are welded to the end of the frame. I straightened those and the bumper lines up nice. I had a friend of mine build the flatbed for it. In my opinion, he over built it as far as materials go. There were no box mounts on the frame from the factory, so instead of fabricating mounts, he welded in to the frame. It isn't welded the whole length of the frame, just every so often. It wouldn't really take much to cut the bed loose and build some proper mounts for it, but it works just fine for how I use it, and I really don't have time to change it myself. It is very heavy and was built to pull large gooseneck trailers. It's 10 1/2 ft long. The pickup, as a whole, is in excellent condition, inside and out. The interior is very clean, and has no rips or tears in the seats. It has the work truck package, so it has a rubber floor mat, manual windows, door locks, and just the basic am/fm radio, and no cruise control. It does have air conditioning though, and it is ICE cold. I serviced the ac system while everything was apart and works awesome! The body is very clean and straight and looks very nice for a pickup with 200,000 fewer miles on it. The front tires are highway tread firestones and are probably 50%. The rear tires are pretty much new. They are retreads with an aggressive offroad tread pattern and probably have 2000 miles on them. The windshield is new and so are both batteries. I put dual post batteries in this when the originals finally went. They have a little higher CCA and they are nicer for jump starting other vehicles. The pickup starts, runs, and drives nice. It currently has 330,800 miles on it (I haven't driven it a lot since fixing it. I usually just drive it when I haul hay, or cattle. I just don't use it enough to justify keeping it, so I thought I'd throw it out there and see if there's any interest. It's a perfect pickup for the way I've been using it, but it's kind of a shame to have it sitting as often as it does. The only real problems that exist, if you even want to call them that, are the front shocks, and the filler neck for the rear fuel tank. The shocks seem to float when I back it out of the shop. You really don't notice as much on the road due to the weight of the motor. The rear filler neck was mounted too flat to get fuel in it. If you run the back tires up on a block of wood you can still get fuel in it, but the front tank is plenty big enough on it's own. I tried to describe this to the best of my ability, but you are definitely encouraged to ask questions, and come look at it in person if you're close enough to justify doing so. Bentley has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard for reductions of carbon, water use and waste production in manufacturing. The Carbon Trust is an organization that helps groups such as businesses and governments reduce carbon emissions, use of energy and resources, and waste output. From 2011 to 2013, Bentley reduced CO2 emissions by 16 percent per car manufactured, curtailed water use by 35.7 percent, and saw significant waste reductions. Darran Messem of Carbon trust says, "Bentley is clearly passionate about continuing to improve its environmental performance, which is reflected by the fact the company has consistently invested in new technology." Read more in the press release below. Chevrolet is giving 12 Volts to MBAs Across America. The organization will use the range-extended electric cars in its efforts to help MBA students learn from and work with small business owners. As part of the MBAs Across America program's first year, four students drove 8,000 miles to provide entrepreneurs with free business counseling. The program has expanded, and this year, teams of MBAs will use the Volts to travel to 25 cities to offer their services. A professor from the University of Michigan has found fuel cycle analysis to be too flawed to be relied upon for measuring CO2 impacts of transportation fuels. Professor John DeCicco of the university's Energy Institute feels that the flaws in calculating the carbon footprint of liquid fuel production and combustion make such lifecycle analysis impractical. He suggests, instead, to focus to carbon capture. Since capturing CO2 directly from a vehicle is probably never going to happen, DiCicco believes the solution is to capture carbon from the atmosphere in sectors outside of transportation. Says DiCicco, "Research should be ramped up on options for increasing the rate at which CO2 is removed from the atmosphere and on programs to manage and utilize carbon fixed in the biosphere, which offers the best CO2 removal mechanism now at hand. Such strategies can complement measures that control the demand for liquid fuels by reducing travel activity, improving vehicle efficiency and shifting to non-carbon fuels." The Chevrolet Corvette has always stood out as a bastion of reasonably priced performance, and the latest 'Vette has that in spades. And while its expected starting price of around $120,000 certainly isn't cheap, it's an undeniable deal in the supercar world – remember, this thing'll do 210 miles per hour thanks to its 755-horsepower supercharged V8 engine. And did you get a load of that massive rear wing? Team Corvette's longtime foe, the Porsche 911, is similarly hellbent on ultimate performance. And as a reminder of how long the Corvette/911 rivalry has been melting tires we present the 1990 Porsche 911 as reimagined by Singer you see below. It's beautiful, it's green, and it's packing 500 air-cooled horsepower. You don't have to burn gasoline to go fast, as proven by the second-generation Tesla Roadster, which was revealed as a surprise late last week. Elon Musk says it'll be the quickest car in the world with a 0-60 time of just 1.9 seconds. And while you may not think of a semi truck when you think speed, the Tesla Semi can do 0-60 in 5 seconds flat unloaded, or in 20 seconds with a load of 80,000 pounds. Ram 1500 bests new F-150 in MT pickup shootout

Ford's 2015 Ford F-150 is a technological tour-de-force, what with its aluminum-intensive construction and its powerful and efficient new 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine option. But now that it's hit the market, it's time to get down to brass tacks and find out how just the latest F-150 actually stands up to its rivals in the hyper-competitive fullsize segment. Motor Trend is among the first to round up the Ford (in Lariat 2.7-liter 4X4 guise here) and put it up against the Ram 1500 Outdoorsman EcoDiesel 4x4 and 5.3-liter-equipped Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 to find out how Dearborn's new-think truck measures up. The test put the trio through over 1,000 miles of tough driving in California and Arizona in a variety of conditions from just cruising around unladen to hauling a trailer. MT found all three trucks to be competent, but the most praise got heaped on the Ram and the Ford, with the Chevrolet falling a step behind its competitors in many tests. Among the Ford's most-liked features was its 2.7-liter, twin-turbo V6 that helped make the F-150 easily the quickest of the group, with some editors saying the engine felt about the same whether driving around with cargo in the bed or not. There was some minor turbo lag during acceleration while trailering, but that issue affected the Ram, too. The Ram's powertrain was lauded, as well. The EcoDiesel was torquey around town, and the 1500's combination of an eight-speed automatic and air suspension was judged to be the best of the lot. It was the most difficult to get into the bed, though. The Ram also won the fuel economy award by netting 20-miles-per-gallon city and 28-mpg highway in the test to beat its Environmental Protection Agency ratings of 19/27. The Ford's EcoBoost managed 17/22, one mpg off each from the EPA numbers, and using a lot of throttle really depleted its efficiency. As MT notes, however, it would take time for the diesel's mileage savings to pay off at the pump for these two trucks. In the end, the Ram just barely eked out the win, with the title partially earned because of "the Ford's unknown maintenance and aluminum repair costs," according to MT.
