This Chevy is a 1993 model with a 1997 Cummins. (215 pump)  It has a 47RH, and 241DHD.  I built every part of this conversion.  It is not a kit conversion.  Since I put the engine in, I've put 30,000 trouble-free miles on it.  Now I have broken stuff along the way, but it was my fault, not the truck's.
It started as an almost stock engine.  Just free mods and timing.  I ran it like that until I broke the stock input shaft getting onto the interstate.  I put in an ATS input shaft and ATS billet flywheel, and did another full tranny rebuild.  Eventually I put twins on it.  Started with he351cw over bht3b.  I ended up replacing the 3b with a 4c, and went from an "over/under" setup, to a "side by side" setup.
The truck is a pulling monster.  Has over 500 horsepower, and over 1000lbs of torque.  It gets up to 24mpg on the interstate via the 3.42 gears.  At 75mph, it does 1850rpm.  The lowest mileage I've gotten since the conversion was all in town, and that was 19mpg.  But this truck isn't about the mileage.  It's about the adrenaline rush you get whenever you punch the throttle.  The twins spool loudly and quickly.  They are lit by 1500 rpm, and past 50psi by 2000rpm thanks to the 9cm exhaust housing on the 351cw.
The truck is and isn't 4wd.  Right now, I've taken out the front drive line.  It's got 3.42's in the rear, and 4.10's in the front.  My plan was to put a Commonrail front end under it, and put 3.42's in the front as well.  But I've grown tired of this hobby, and it's someone else's turn.
At this point, it is a good daily driver with very good street manners.  You could dial out some fuel and work this truck too if you wanted.  It starts faster than any Cummins I've ever seen, and it does it without needing throttle input.  When it's warm, you can't even try to bump it over without it starting.
I've used Hobbs switches to control overdrive and lockup.  I located them under the 4wd trim.  You can adjust the shift points while you are going down the road.  If you want, you can adjust them to even lock up in third and do a locked shift to overdrive, and it will all still work like a normal automatic.  I've also put in a three-position mystery switch.  You can run it in "auto" and just leave the truck alone.  But you also have the options to force or defeat lockup.  This is useful for pulling heavy in the mountains.  Once the EGT's start to get hot, you can unlock the converter and they will cool down.  You can run it like that until the tranny starts to get warm.  At that point, you can force lockup and the tranny will rapidly cool back to 125*.  The cooler I put in is massive.  The switch also comes in handy on the dyno, as you can force lockup and floor it without it kicking out of lockup.  At that point, it is running like a manual tranny, and if you are driving and try to come to a stop, it will not downshift unless you change the switch to defeat lockup, or auto.  It will stay locked up so tight, it will kill the engine.
The truck is still a project truck.  You could tidy it up and call it done, or you can keep working on it.  It's wicked fast, and will run the 1/4 mile in high 13's launching in 2wd.  It sounds good, and has always been reliable for me.  But it's time for it to be someone else's project.
This truck is not street legal in Texas.  It needs the reverse lights hooked up and mudflaps put on to pass inspection.  So if you are planning on buying it, you can drive it at your own risk, or trailer it.  The reverse lights just need a connector for the tranny, then run the hot to the lights.
Here is a list of what I've done to it that I can remember:

Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon get trim levels reworked again

Sun, Mar 22 2020

GM Authority reports that GM has fiddled with trim packages on the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon for the 2021 model year, eliminating the base trims on both pickups and implementing small price changes. When the new model year goes on sale, the Chevy will lose the rear-wheel drive Base Extended Cab with the automatic transmission that starts at $22,395 after a $1,095 destination charge. The new entry-level is going to be the Work Truck model with the extended cab in rear-wheel drive, starting at $26,595 assuming the destination charge holds steady. That represents a $4,200 jump over the base 2020 model. MSRPs for the entire Work Truck lineup, from base to the Crew Cab Long Box, rise by $400. Elsewhere in the Colorado line, the four Z71 trims go down by $100, while the two ZR2 trims increase by the same amount. Only the six LT trims don't see any change.  The GMC side is a bit more involved due to previously announced changes. The 2020 Canyon comes in SL, Base Canyon, SLE, SLT, All Terrain, and Denali steps. Last month, GM Authority reported the 2021 Canyon would give all that up for the new names Elevation Standard, Elevation, AT4, and Denali. Since the SL base model retires in 2021, the Elevation Standard takes over at the entry level. Unlike on the Colorado, which sheds one trim, the Canyon lineup gets pared from 20 total combinations of trims, cab sizes, and bed lengths, to 14 total combinations. But like the Colorado, due to the loss of the cheapest configuration, the least expensive 2021 Canyon becomes $4,200 more expensive than in 2020, assuming the destination price remains the same. What's more, the 2021 Elevation Standard pricing adds $700 or $800 to the prices of the 2020 Canyon base and SLE models. There are more increases up the range. The 2021 Elevation trim replaces a combination of SLE and SLT models, bumping prices up by up to $900. In 2020, the least expensive All Terrain model is the Extended Cab Cloth for $37,695. For next year, the least expensive AT4 trim is the Crew Cab Short Box for $39,295. Like-for-like, though, the AT4 represents a $300 premium over the 2020 All Terrain Crew Cab Short Box. Three Denali trims will still stand at the top of the heap, each one going up by $400 in 2021. Until GM details the equipment changes, we won't know how the new pricing equates to value.

Volvo and GM team with Amazon for in-car deliveries

Tue, Apr 24 2018

Volvo and GM are the first automakers to pair their vehicles with a new service from Amazon that lets owners have their packages delivered inside their cars, without them having to be there. The service will initially be rolled out in 37 U.S. cities at no extra charge to Amazon Prime members with a Volvo On Call or OnStar account, and it works with same-day, two-day and standard shipping. It's intended as an alternative for people who don't want to risk having their package stolen from their front porch or receive deliveries at their workplace, and both automakers say it's an example of how they're embracing innovation as a way to make their customers' lives easier. Volvo released a video (above) showing how the service works. Users download the Amazon Key App (or " Ama-zin," as the narrator pronounces it) and link their Amazon Prime account with their Volvo On Call account — or OnStar, in the case of GM-branded vehicles. Once they register their delivery location in a publicly accessible location, users can select the "In-Car" option at checkout. They get a notification when the delivery is en route and once it's completed and the car is relocked. Volvo has been offering in-car delivery in certain European countries since 2015 through its Volvo On Call platform, which enables services like the ability to send calendar-based navigation destinations directly to the vehicle, find nearby gas stations and help locate the vehicle when you forget where you parked it. Volvo says the platform is now available in roughly 50 countries and covers more than 90 percent of its global sales. The service is compatible with 2015 or newer Volvo, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles. Volvo says it's available to the majority of Volvo owners, while GM says more than 7 million vehicle owners can qualify. The service is expected to roll out to more cities later. 2016 Chevy Volt zaps into the Detroit Auto Show with big improvements [w/video]

Mon, Jan 12 2015

If you need an example of how quickly the plug-in hybrid market is evolving, just take a quick glance at the 2016 Chevrolet Volt. For its freshly introduced new generation at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, the sedan sports extra range, better efficiency and a host of other improvements to make the vehicle even easier to live with. A big portion of the model's improvements come from Chevy's second-gen Voltec propulsion system. The updated drive unit is 12 percent more efficient and sheds 100 pounds from the scales. The battery itself also drops 21 pounds, while growing in capacity to 18.3 kilowatt hours. It gives the Volt an electric range of up to 50 miles and offers a total driving distance of over 400 miles. In addition, the new 1.5-liter engine offers estimated 41 miles per gallon fuel economy (with no battery). The significant improvement in specs are certainly respectable, but the vast majority of buyers should notice the latest Volt's evolved styling first. Up front, there's a shiny new nose with a more modern take on Chevy's split grille. From there, the design slows back to a more svelte take rear with the original model's futuristic, square taillights not making the transition. Inside, Chevy simplifies the infotainment system and now offers seating for three in the back. Check it all out in the gallery, above, to see how far the latest model has come. Chevrolet Introduces All-New 2016 Volt New model features expressive, sleek design and delivers 50 miles of EV range DETROIT – Chevrolet today unveiled the all-new 2016 Volt electric car with extended range, showcasing a sleeker, sportier design that offers 50 miles of EV range, greater efficiency and stronger acceleration. The Volt's new, efficient propulsion system will offer a General Motors'-estimated total driving range of more than 400 miles and with regular charging, owners are expected to travel more than 1,000 miles on average between gas fill-ups. "The 2016 Chevrolet Volt provides our owners with a no-compromise electric driving experience," said Alan Batey, president of GM North America. "We believe our engineering prowess combined with data from thousands of customers allows us to deliver the most capable plug-in vehicle in the industry." The 2016 Chevrolet Volt's technology and range advancements are complemented by a design that blends sculpted, muscular proportions with aerodynamic efficiency, and an all-new interior with seating for five and improved functionality.
