My background:  I have an Associates degree from Ferris State University in automotive service and a Bachelors degree in automotive and heavy equipment management.  I’m a Michigan State certified mechanic.  I have 27 years experience in the automotive repair and restoration field.  I own and operate a Pennzoil 10 minute oil change center as well as a used car lot at the same location.  I inspect all of my vehicles from head to toe.  I will fix any and all issues (if needed) on these vehicles before they are sold on my lot.  I only sell issue free vehicles.  I try very hard to only sell “1” owner vehicles in perfect shape needing nothing but a driver.

This 6.6L engine, Allison transmission and front and rear axles are best in the business-bullet proof!

I have a “1” owner 2006 Chevrolet 3500 4x4 regular cab long box for sale.  This truck  has 179,000 original miles on it.   The engine is a 6.6L Turbo Diesel with an Allison automatic transmission.  I took this truck in on trade from a friend of mine.  He bought this truck new and keeps excellent maintenance on his vehicles.  He has a horse farm in Kentucky and also a house here in Michigan.  As you can tell by the mileage on this truck he drives a ton back and forth to his two homes.  (He has an 08 tahoe with 191,000 miles on it from driving the same route as his truck, back and forth.  He also used the truck for his construction company.  This is why he has a goose neck in the back of his truck.  He occasionally dropped off a tool trailer to jobs for his construction company.  He did not 1 time tow anything out of state!!  Has an electric brake wired in the truck also. Truck has a snow plow prep package. He did have a boss snow plow on it for only the last 2 years.  He didn't use plow much so he recently sold it to a friend.  We had very mild winters the last 2 seasons.  He said he only plowed 8-10 times with the plow on the truck. Truck has factory lights on top of the cab as well as a plow light on top that has two different patterns of blinking.  Pick which one best fits you.

He is very picky of his vehicles.  He took the truck to the chevy dealer for all his maintenance.  Truck was brought into the chevy dealer approximately 4 months ago or so for a complete check up before he was going to trade it off to me or sell it.  Here are the following things he had them replace:   Has new brakes, Rotors, shocks, newer tires, tune-up and all fluids have been flushed.  New glow plugs, cleaned and serviced all injectors, installed (2) new interstate batteries and had (4) new speakers installed for the radio, he said the old ones were crackling.  The front end is very tight needing nothing and the rest of the truck checked out perfect.  Drives perfectly straight and is very tight.  Truck is mechanically perfect with everything working as it should.  This truck is as nice a truck for its use and mileage you will find anywhere.   4x4 works perfectly.  This truck runs, shifts, drives and stops like new.  Interior is in nice shape.  He was a non smoker, no burns, stains or cuts anywhere.  Exterior is in good shape with its normal chips, scratches and a few dings near the top of the box on both sides of the box.  I tried pointing these out the best i could, nothing real bad but they are a few there.  Truck has a spray in bed liner in great shape.  The paint still shines like new.  I have a clear title signed off by previous owner ready to transfer to new owner!  Won’t last long these trucks never do!!

GM reintroduces Tripower name in the worst way possible

Wed, Aug 1 2018

The story of General Motors' use of the Tripower moniker begins way back in 1957, when Semon E. "Bunkie" Knudsen, then General Manager of GM's Pontiac division, directed his engineers to inject more performance into his brand's line of V8-powered automobiles. Fuel injection was an option, but hot rodders flocked instead to Tri-Power (marketed way back when with a hyphen), which grafted a trio of two-barrel Rochester carburetors onto a single intake manifold. A legend was born. And that legend was born of performance. At idle and when full power wasn't required, Pontiac's Tri-Power system used just the middle carburetor, which helped make the setup easier to tune. Depending on the year and model, either a vacuum system or a mechanical linkage opened up the two outer carbs, thereby switching from two barrels to six, and allowing the engine to take in more fuel and air. And it was an easy marketing win – six barrels is better than four barrels, right? Because performance! So, when news filtered in that GM has resurrected the Tripower name, those of us who grew up attending classic car shows and wrenching on old Pontiacs did a double-take. And then we all collectively sighed. Turns out that today's Tripower refers to a trio of fuel-saving measures that include cylinder deactivation, active thermal management, and intake valve lift control, according to Automotive News. And, at least for now, it applies to GM's line of fullsize trucks powered by a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. We're all for saving fuel whenever possible. And we have zero say in how any automaker chooses to market its products and technologies. But, we'll offer our two cents anyway: Relaunching a storied name from the past is fine. Relaunching a storied name from the past while completely overlooking the reasons the name got famous in the first place is only going to irritate the people who remember the name in the first place. Couldn't they just call this new technology package something else? Recharge Wrap-up: Indianapolis to switch 425 fleet vehicles to EVs, Chevy Corvette provides bat habitats

Tue, Nov 4 2014

Indianapolis will deploy 425 battery electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles as part of its municipal fleet by 2016. The fleet will include such cars as the Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Volt and Ford Fusion Energi. The city will also reduce its overall fleet by 100 vehicles. In all, the revised group - called the "Freedom Fleet" - will save $8.7 million and 2.2 million gallons of gasoline over 10 years. Read more at Hybrid Cars. EVs with longer range would make vehicle-to-home and vehicle-to-grid energy management systems more practical for the US. The idea of using EVs as energy storage for emergencies or times of high grid demand is currently being tested in Japan with Nissan's Leaf-to-Home system. The US is also interested in such capabilities, but the higher average energy use of American households would make larger batteries in EVs ideal for grid storage applications. Read more at Green Car Reports. LG Chem has broken ground on its EV battery plant in Nanjing, China. The factory, when constructed, will have a capacity of producing batteries for 100,000 cars per year according to the Korean company. The plant will supply batteries for Chinese automakers such as SAIC and Qoros. Construction is expected to be finished by the end of 2015 and LG Chem expects revenue of more than $933 million by 2020. Read more in the press release below. General Motors is using adhesive used in the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to create habitat for threatened bat species. Artificial bat caves could help alleviate white-nose fungus that leads to diminished bat populations. Leftover adhesive is used to create stalactites in the artificial caves, allowing them more structure to hang from. GM has also provided Volt battery covers to create nesting habitats for bats, which eat harmful insects and help pollinate plants. See the videos and read more in the press release below. LG Chem officially breaks ground for China EV battery plant Seoul, Korea - Oct 30, 2014 – LG Chem, Korea's leading manufacturer of advanced batteries, held a ground breaking ceremony for the construction of electric-car battery plant in Nanjing, China, to meet growing demand in the world's biggest car market.

Junkyard Gem: 1980 Chevrolet LUV Mikado

Sat, Oct 9 2021

During the 1970s and into the 1980s, each member of the Detroit Big Three imported Japanese small pickups and sold them with Ford (Mazda Proceed), Dodge/Plymouth (Mitsubishi Forte), or Chevrolet (Isuzu Faster) badges here. Ford developed the Ranger and killed the Courier for 1983 (though Americans could still buy the Mazda-badged version all the way through 1993), while The General axed the LUV after the S-10 debuted in the 1982 model year. Isuzu sold the same truck as the P'up through 1987, though, and we might as well follow up our recent P'up Junkyard Gem with its LUV predecessor. LUV stood for Light Utility Vehicle, and I've managed to spot a handful in the boneyards over the years. This one now resides in a yard in northeastern Colorado. The Mikado trim package included striped seat upholstery and a sporty steering wheel, plus these cool dash badges. As far as I can tell, no LUV Mikado advertising featured any Gilbert and Sullivan tunes. This one is fairly rusty for Front Range Colorado, and it has endured a bed swap from some other small truck. The engine is the 75-horse Isuzu 1.8-liter. Members of this engine family went into everything from Chevy Chevettes to Isuzu Troopers in the United States. Very unusually for a small pickup during the Malaise Era, this one has a luxurious automatic transmission. Acceleration must have been a leisurely affair in this truck. Air conditioning? Unheard of! Someone stuck every one of their lunchtime apple stickers on the driver's door. After 41 years of work, this truck is done. Come on strong in a LUV of your own!
