2011 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT Z71 Southern Comfort (Apex) Edition

Purchased on November 11, 2011
GM MajorGuard Extended Warranty was purchased with vehicle, and can be transferred to you
Lift Kit, Wheels, Tires, Exhaust System, etc. are all covered under factory warranty

$59,670 Sticker Price, not including the extended warranty or extras!!

Before I get into the details of the truck, I need to make something very clear. This is a Southern Comfort Edition truck which means it came from the dealer exactly the way you see it. The lift kit, wheels, tires, exhaust, step bars, bed liner, etc. were all installed by Southern Comfort and then delivered to the dealer, look up mcmvehicles dot com to see their website. If you aren't familiar with Southern Comfort, they do conversion vehicles for various different manufacturers, and since it is a factory approved modification, the vehicle retains it's factory (and extended) warranties. If you ever have a problem with any part of this truck, just bring it to your nearest dealer, and you are fully covered. The powertrain is covered by GM's 5 year / 100,000 mile limited warranty. The GM bumper to bumper warranty ends on November 11, 2014 or 36,000 miles, but I purchased an extended GM MajorGuard $0 deductible warranty, which extends that warranty until November 11, 2017 or 75,000 miles, whichever comes first. The extended warranty can be transferred to you, but you will be responsible for GM's administration fee to do so.

As you can see from the pictures, it is a VERY clean truck. It has never been off-road, or even towed a single thing. I pretty much bought the truck for it's looks, and only used it to go to and from work, which is made obvious by the extremely low miles. I only use full synthetic engine oil, and change it every 3,000 miles. The tires were rotated at 5,000 miles.

The truck is flawless, and I have nearly $70,000 invested in it, after all the extras. Book value on a stock 2011 Z71 CrewCab is approx. $35,000, and if you add the $20,000 worth of extras, that puts this truck around $55,000. What I did was, took the $20,000 I spent on the Southern Comfort package, and extras, and just cut it in half, so that's $10,000 on top of the book value of $35,000, which is an amazing deal. You are getting a $70,000 truck for the price of a new *stock* Z71, and this one has less than 10,000 miles, and even includes an extended warranty. It's a perfect package.

EDIT: I reduced the Buy It Now price by $995 on 5/25/13

Deposit:
$500 deposit is due within 48 hours of the end of the listing via Paypal. I understand that it takes a little time to get funds together, especially if we have to wait for them to clear (see Payment terms below),so I need the $500 deposit just to prove that you are serious about buying the vehicle. If some sort of payment isn't received within the 48 hours, I will be forced to re-list the vehicle, and report this listing as non-paid.

Payment:
I currently have a loan on the truck, so due to having that loan, I don't have a title in hand. That being said, I have no problem completing a notarized Bill of Sale, and giving you the truck, but not until your payment clears. I don't care how you pay, but I absolutely will not provide a Bill of Sale, or release the truck, prior to the payment clearing my account. To avoid any delay, or undue hassle, the absolute best way to do this is with cash. You can fly into my local airport, and I can meet you there with the truck and Bill of Sale. You would look at, and drive, the truck to make sure everything is as described, you pay me with the cash, and you drive the truck home. After that, I pay off my loan, and when the title arrives, I sign it, get it notarized, and then overnight it to you. Now, if you don't want to pay cash, that's understandable, but like I said, we won't be able to do anything until the funds clear, and this is non-negotiable. If you plan on shipping the vehicle, it will be your sole responsibility, I will be glad to meet your carrier anywhere within 35 miles of my home, but understand that I am no longer responsible once I turn over the keys to the driver. I'm sorry if this sounds a little harsh, there are just too many scam artists out there, and I am laying out these rules to not only protect myself, but also you.

3rd Party Inspections:
If you plan on shipping the truck, and choose to have a 3rd Party Inspector come out to look at the truck, that's perfectly fine by me, and I actually encourage it.

I think that about covers everything. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to ask. I will be more than happy to go into detail about any part of the truck, or the transaction process.

Recharge Wrap-up: EV torque secrets, UC Davis maps future of biofuels

Fri, Jul 25 2014

A UC Davis white paper maps out "Three Routes Forward for Biofuels," balancing investment risk with carbon benefits. The first option is "incremental," in which we tinker with the existing biofuel manufacturing infrastructure for small improvements over time. The "transitional" plan suggests integrating cellulosic production and other innovations with existing operations. The third route, called "leapfrogging," would mean building refineries based on new technology such as cellulosic and algae-based biofuels. The paper suggests ways the US could use these three routes together in different areas, and predicts the payoffs in terms of carbon emissions could be significant if the right people are willing to risk the capital. After all, financial advisers are always telling investors to diversify their portfolios to manage risk and rewards in the same way. Read more over at the UC Davis Institute of Transportation Studies. The Formula E Long Beach ePrix will offer free admission. The seventh round of the inaugural all-electric race season, which was moved from Los Angeles to the streets of Long Beach, will offer fans free grandstand and general admission. The race, which takes place on April 5, 2015, will use a 1.6-mile portion of IndyCar's Grand Prix of Long Beach. Read more at LA Times. Polaris is now offering its 2015 GEM electric vehicles, including the new street-legal eM1400 LSV. The passenger and utility vehicles come in two- to six-passenger configurations, many of which are street legal on roads with posted speed limits of up to 35 miles per hour. The eM1400 LSV utility vehicle seats two, offers 1,250 pounds of payload, 1,250 pounds of towing capacity, a top speed of 25 mph and a range of up to 45 miles. Its on-board charger plugs into any standard 110-volt outlet. Read more at Hybrid Cars and check out all the different configurations yourself at the Polaris website. In EVs, more torque does not always equal faster. Green Car Reports found this out when driving the Fiat 500e (with 147 pound-feet) against the similarly weighted Chevrolet Spark EV (with 400 pound-feet). The secret is, at least in part, in the gearing. The Fiat has a 9.6:1 reduction gear, making it quicker at lower speeds despite having far less available torque, while the Chevy uses a 3:1 ratio. The trade-off though, is in top speed. Furthermore, Chevy electronically limits the torque delivery at low speeds, as 400 pound-feet is a lot of launch for the little Spark EV to handle.

Why the Corvette is Chevrolet's billion-dollar baby

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Edmunds has worked up a piece that tries to figure out just how much the global Chevrolet Corvette economy is worth, a spitballed guesstimate putting the number at more than $2.5 billion with the proviso that the number is probably low. It starts by taking Corvette's new car sales of 14,132 units last year, which would equate to $714,725,900 (including destination) assuming ever car sold was a base coupe with no options. In the final tally, a little extra padding gets that number up to $750,000,000.
But that's not all. Consider this: Many of the almost 1.4 million Corvettes produced over the model's history are still on the road. There are new parts being produced and aftermarket companies like Mid-America Motorworks deaing business, that single Illinois company doing more than $40 million a year in sales. There are the Corvette events large and small, restorers who do nothing but Corvettes, salvage yards that deal only in used Corvette parts and the Corvette magazines where owners find all this stuff.
And then there are the Corvette-themed tchotchkes, every single one of which provides a tiny contribution to the huge licensing royalties that General Motors collects every year. The article admits there's no way to come to an accurate number, but it just goes to show how valuable one specific model can be to a company.

Cadillac Celestiq, Lyriq, Hummer, other future GM electric cars: Here's everything we saw at ‘EV Day’

Wed, Mar 4 2020

WARREN, Mich. — Today, General Motors held an “EV Day” event at its Warren, Michigan, campus to present its new “Ultium” battery technology, modular electric vehicle architecture and soon-to-come electric vehicles. Unfortunately, we were forbidden from bringing cameras into the event, so while we canÂ’t show you what we saw, we can tell you more about it. While we saw the previously teased Cadillac EV (which we now know to be called the Lyriq) and the GMC Hummer pickup teased during the Super Bowl, there were a number of other future cars at the event, which GM President Mark Reuss assured us are all real vehicles in the works. The biggest surprise came at the end of the event, though, in the Cadillac Celestiq electric sedan, which Reuss described as a future flagship that would be hand-built “very locally.” It had been hiding under a dark sheet all morning, with the front and rear illuminated Cadillac emblems shining from underneath. When the wraps came off, we saw a long, white, four-seat fastback sedan. The 23-inch wheels were pushed out to the very corners of the car, giving it what appeared to be a very long wheelbase. The model on the stage had no side mirrors or visible door handles. The grille mirrored that of the Lyriq crossover next to it, with integrated lighting in lieu of the usual mesh or slats youÂ’d see in an internal combustion car. The entire roof, all the way until it tapered to the tail of the vehicle, was tinted glass. In back, vertical tail lighting ran down the C-pillar before turning rearward across the top of the trunk. Inside, everything below the beltline of the windows — essentially all but the headrests and top portion of the steering wheel, was hidden from view. Behind the Celestiq, a large digital display showed a rendering of its interior. The dash consists of a pillar-to-pillar curved LED display serving as both instrument panel and infotainment system. Protruding forward between the front seats was another touchscreen that appeared to house some more controls, with open area, probably for storage, below it. The rear seats had the same sort of touchscreen between them. Built into the back of the front seats were a pair of rear-seat entertainment screens, much like we saw in the Lyriq. The door panels blended wood, metal and animated lighting to give character and a sense of opulence. GM interior design manager Tristan Murphy was on hand to tell us a bit more about the Celestiq.
