High End Custom Chevrolet Silverado Lowrider
What you are looking at is one of the best examples of a daily driver show truck. I built this truck to be a
headturner, a fast beast, and a daily driver. If you wanted to turn this into a show truck, it would not take
much. If you want a bad ass daily driver, look no further. Keep in mind, this is NOT a show truck so it’s not
110% perfect but damn near. I don’t abuse it but I use it and I worked hard to keep it as clean as possible and
keep idiots from ruining it. Why am I selling it? Where I live in the Midwest, this truck is not practical for so
many months out of the year and I’m not going to subject it to salt over and over again, that is a pain in the
butt. So I’m going to work on my offroad vehicles instead. It is very, very, very hard to let this truck go due
to the amount of laughs, pain, and time I have in it but I want someone else to have fun.
This truck started out as a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado and then in 2009 I purchased the truck and proceeded to
customize it. All the frame was completely redone by Xtensive Metalworks in Texas. Then a 2006 front clip was
added for an upgraded touch. Underneath the frame was made to tow three times its capacity with a hidden hitch and
rear view camera. Utilizing a KP components 4 link suspension with a Watts link in the rear combined with
ridetech’s top shocks. Up front we had RideTech personally install the front suspension with their custom A
arms, shocks, bags, you name it. The entire suspension is controlled by Accuair eLevel control with custom pod
mounted in the dash.
The engine is a stock V8 5.3 but has been heavily massaged to pump out close to 575 hp. Custom boost loop cam,
tuning, supercharger, cold ram air, electric fans, etc make this truck and absolute beast. Rounding out the engine
is a custom exhaust and muffler from Black Widow which absolutely sounds subtle and mean as hell. The amount of
people who turn heads when this truck is idling or driving by is nuts. It’s not annoying, it just commands
attention. And to be really clear, it’s fast…I mean it will blow the doors off of cars without even trying.
And I DON’T do dead stop burnouts because I did not feel like replacing the gears or axle or transmission. Which
by the way, the transmission is a performance transmission that comes with a lifetime warranty.
The entire inside of the truck was custom redone with the entire front dash being fiberglass and painted the same
color as the truck. Custom pod was built to house the speed management system and eLevel controller.
From an audio standpoint, it house two HD digital JL amps behind the rear seat powering two JL 12 subs under the
rear seat in a custom box and seperates in the rear door as well as JL’s high end component system up front and
custom tweeters in the dash pod. The sound is absolutely amazing no matter what kind of music you like, especially
coming from the Kenwood dash…..that of course has Bluetooth, microphone, etc.
The interior has custom blue led lights under the seats, dash, cup holders, and rear seat. In addition, the entire
truck has an underbody light system that can change to any color that lights up the entire ground. The front and
rear seats have aftermarket leather covers that match the color of the truck.
The outside of the truck was completely smoothed out with the entire rear being custom built to include frenched in
smooth rear lights and working tailgate. Painted a gorgeous silver with medium blue and silver flake, the paint
just gleams in the sunlight. The side handles were left on because again, this is a daily driver. A custom
sunroof was included up top that slides into the truck itself for a very clean look.
The bed of the truck is all custom with of course custom bed liner and AccuAir’s air management system and two
batteries and lights inside the bed for easy viewing. Topping the bed is a custom aluminum flat bed cover, painted
to match.
The wheels are 24” Massiv 910 Envious wrapped in 275/30r24 tires to which the entire truck rides like a dream.
Having owned many lowriders before I had two goals, comfort and usability.
All brakes were redone to high end disk brakes with EBC pads.
Yes you can tow with this truck not a problem.

Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war

Sun, 30 Dec 2012

A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?

Chevy Corvette Stingray "colorizer" lets you chase the rainbow

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

After you've convinced your better half to let you buy a new Corvette, then comes the hard part... actually figuring out which 'Vette you want. While Chevrolet has yet to release the official configurator for the 2014 Corvette Stingray, it did give us something else to kill some time playing around with.
The C7 Corvette "colorizer" recently went online, and it lets you look at the car in all of its available colors and wheel options from four different angles so that when this car does go on sale, you know exactly which one you want. It includes the Corvette's full pallet of colors including Torch Red, Laguna Blue and the hue you see above, Velocity Yellow. Toss in the black wheels, and we're sold. If you have some time this afternoon, be sure to check it out the Corvette colorizer for yourself, and even if you don't have the time, we've put together a gallery with all of the possible color combinations.

GM recalling over 243,000 crossovers over possible seat belt defect

2010 Buick Enclave - Click above for high-res image gallery
The summer of 2010's recall hit parade continues unabated today, with General Motors having just announced that it is asking 243,403 owners of its 2009-2010 Lambda crossovers to bring their three-row haulers in for inspection. The culprit? Second-row seat belts in select Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Saturn Outlook CUVs have "failed to perform properly in a crash."
According to GM, a second-row seat-side trim piece is to blame, as it can impede the upward rotation of the buckle after the seat is folded flat. As a result, if the buckle makes contact with the seat frame, cosmetic damage can occur, potentially requiring additional force to operate the buckle properly. So far, no great shakes, but in the process of applying that additional force, the occupant may push the buckle cover down to the strap, potentially revealing and depressing the red release button. As a result of this, the belt may not latch, or in certain cases, it may actually appear to be latched when, in fact, it isn't.
