Up for auction is my rust-free 1987 Chevrolet Silverado short bed SWB 1500 V10 4X4 1/2 ton pickup in Mint condition with 52,304 actual miles.  I am the third owner.  The second owner is 70+ years old and bought it from his older friend the original owner before he entered the rest home.  The truck looks, runs and drives as new with no known problems as you would expect from a 52K actual mile truck.  The truck has always been well cared for and it shows!  This truck has pretty much every option which was available in 1987.  Silverado trim, four-wheel drive, air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power windows, power locks, cruise control, tilt steering, dual fuel tanks, alloy wheels, engine block heater, sliding rear window etc.

Body:  The truck maintains all of its original body panels which are rust free.  I had a high quality repaint done on the truck right after I purchased it due to rock chips, bare metal on rocker after removing running boards and a poor quality dent repair on the driver's door by the handle to prevent any rust from happening.  The truck had no prior damage or paint work other than the door.  It had completely original paint other than the driver's door prior to the repaint.  The pictures with the running boards were taken the day I bought it with the original paint, so you can see how nice it was to begin with.  All trim, moldings and the bed were removed for the repaint so there is not overspray.  The jambs and bed were not repainted since they were in such nice original condition and I wanted to retain that originality where I could.  There is no variance in paint color either.  The body side moldings and wheel well moldings were replaced with new.  Covering the bed is a Truxedo lo pro tonneau cover which matches the tan on the truck.  It is mounted with clamps so no holes were drilled for installation.  A rubber bed mat is also included to protect the bed floor.

Interior:  The interior is in immaculate original condition including the original floor mats.  The interior is completely original other than the headliner and radio.  I replaced the headliner since it was sagging and the original radio was replaced by the previous owner with a period correct Alpine unit.  Every feature on the truck work including cold A/C, power windows, power locks, cruise control, tilt wheel, stereo radio, all lights and all gauges.

Drivetrain:  The truck maintains it's original drivetrain.  The original 5.7 liter 350 engine runs perfect and smooth with no leaks, oil burning, smoke or noises.  The automatic overdrive 700R4 transmission functions perfectly also.  It has a 3.08 axle ratio so it is a great highway cruiser.  The four-wheel drive functions properly also.    I just had the muffler and catalytic convertor replaced and the truck should pass emissions requirements anywhere since it puts off very little exhaust fumes.

Wheels and Tires:  The optional wheels are original to the truck.  I had them professionally refinished by a service that dips and removes the clear coat and has the clear re-powder coated.  I had them refinished since the previous owner had used the wrong type of cleaner on them and damaged the clear coat.  They are as close to perfect as you will ever find.  The Good Year Wrangler tires on it have approximately 4,000 miles on them and were installed the day I bought the truck since the ones on it had dry-rott.

I have driven the truck approximately 4,000 miles in the past year and it performs flawlessly.  I even made a 700 mile one-day trip in it with absolutely no problems or concerns.  It runs and drives as new.  It rides very smooth, is quiet and goes down the road straight.  Everything on the truck works as it should.  We have made several highway trips in it and is very comfortable.  Just get on the highway and set the cruise!  I receive numerous compliments every time I take it out.  This truck would be great to add to any collection or even use as an everyday driver if you choose, since it is very reliable.

Please ask all questions prior to bidding.  I welcome and encourage you to inspect the truck by appointment prior to bidding.  You will be impressed!  Please call with questions or to set-up an appointment to view and test drive.  Mark (913)909-1186 or e-mail through Ebay and I will answer your questions promptly.

Full payment is due within 7 days of auction close and the vehicle must be picked up within 14 days of auction close unless other arrangements are agreed upon between buyer and seller prior to auction close.  A $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of auction close by either Paypal or wire transfer.  Payment methods for the truck are:  Wire Transfer (preferred), Cash in Person or Cashier's Check (which must clear prior to vehicle possession).  The buyer is responsible for all shipping costs or arrangements.  I will work with your shipper of choice regarding pickup of the vehicle.  The title is clear and in my name with no liens.  I have only seen one truck like this in person which is nicer and it is located at Classic Parts and has less than 100 miles!

24 Hours of Le Mans live update part one

Sat, Jun 18 2016

We tasked surfing journalist Rory Parker to watch this year's live stream of the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans. What follows is an experiment to experience the world's greatest endurance race from the perspective of a motorsports novice with a profanity-laden stream-of-consciousness writing style. Parker lives in Hawaii and spends far more time spearfishing than behind the wheel of a car. Jump ahead to Part Two here, and Part Three here. Big Money and billionaire hobbyists and rockets on wheels. Jets belching French color smoke overhead. Balance of power fuckery. Plenty of water on the ground this morning. Absurdly expensive motorcars lined up in the pissing rain. Fast twitch lunatics behind the wheel. Chomping at the bit. Let's go let's go let's go! Race hasn't even started, Ford #67 maybe dealing with clutch issues. Karma? That beautiful bastard Brad Pitt's out on the track, waving the tricolor flag. It's a standing start in "Noah's Ark" weather and the 2016 24 hours of Le Mans is go! First lap takes place behind the safety car, finished in a record setting 8 minutes 27 seconds. Wrong kind of record maybe, but this is the first time I've set my mind to watching the whole damn race. Feel like I'm part of history. 3:00 AM on Kauai, a little too early for life. Sucking down coffee like a maniac. Don't fall back asleep. Got my hands on four hours of rest, how much more can I need? Better be enough for the next twenty four hours. Gonna get kinda punchy toward the end. Jason Statham on the scene. Four feet of solid muscle, non-existent hairline. Lovely wife peanut gallery sitting next to me calls him the "best race car drive in the world." Not sure if she's serious. Toss up, could go either way. Statham's a funny guy. Heir to the Bruce Willis comedy action crown. Really good in the movie where the fat comedy lady plays a spy. Ford's on the road. Problems with gearbox pressure, apparently. Nearing a half hour in and the safety car is still on the track. Hellish amounts of water on the ground, in the air. Visibility is garbage. Getting better. Twitter wags, "Not with a bang but a whimper." Just building suspense. Mother Nature felt like killing some people today, race officials need to dial back the drivers until it dries a tad. Normal inclination would've seen 'em flying, guaranteed early lap wrecks. Sad news for that bloodthirsty part of my lizard brain I try and keep suppressed. Good news for humanity. #12 in the pit for a bit.
