2001 Chevrolet S-10 (4cyl Ext Cab) on 2040-cars
Madison, Indiana, United States
I have owned this truck since 2004 and have driven it daily ever since. It is very dependable and has never left me stranded. I honestly hate to sell it. It is a very drivable/workable truck and I recently purchased a new car, so can't keep both. I am also selling my home and moving closer to work, and the truck can't go. I bought the truck with 43,000 miles on it and I now have 202,400. I have changed the oil myself every 4000 miles and personally lubed the front end every 5k miles. The interior is usually detailed every summer, and I think the care shows when you open the doors compared to most trucks this age. The interior is clean, (non-smoking) with no tears in the carpet or seats. The dash still shines very nicely and is not warped. 5 speed with cruise control works great. The truck will need new tires, and as I said a few other "light" mechanical repairs. (A/C charge, maybe ball joint). The truck could use a tune up, and I have 4 new spark plugs that go with the truck. The GM factory bedliner is also in good shape, and the truck is very rust free. I removed the front bumper however due to faulty factory paint primer. (I have the front spoiler that mounts under the bumper, and bumpers are fairly cheap. The truck is very drivable as is, and I use it every day to commute to work 130 mile round trip. I would drive this truck coast to coast as is without worry. Heater works extremely well in the winter. I have also never pulled a trailer with this truck.
*Exterior/cosmetic issues: there is a 2 inch long scratch on the front left fender, slight 2 inch scratch/light ding in the hood up near the windshield washer spout on drivers side. Antenna is bent back slightly. I removed the interior rear view mirror as I was going to replace the windshield. Rear sliding window will need replaced. There is also a claw mark near the back drivers side tail light going 6 inches or so down the truck. (Very light) A Grizzly bear took a swipe at my truck with its paw. (true story) Tailgate straps need replaced. Any questions about condition, please feel free to ask as I have tried to state condition as best as possible. I reserve the right to end auction early, as it is for sale locally in Madison Indiana, and Louisville Kentucky. I will try to post additional photos soon. Payment method: must include a $500 (non-refundable) deposit via PayPal at close of auction within 48 hours. Balance can be paid by cash, or bank certified check in person. Title transfer and payment can be made at my local bank. Will deliver within 100 miles free of charge. Thank you for looking, and happy bidding! GM natural gas-powered vans recalled due to possible leak
Wed, Sep 24 2014General Motors is recalling almost 3,200 of its compressed-natural-gas powered utility vans because of possible leaks. GM and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released a notice last week saying that 3,196 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana CNG vans are on recall, though no accidents have been reported due to the possible issue. The recall is specifically for vans for model years ranging from 2011 to 2014. The recall stems from a potential leak from the compressed natural gas high-pressure regulator, and such a leak could cause a fire or explosion. GM will replace the vehicles' high-pressure regulator in order to fix the problem, will do it free of charge and is instructing owners to contact Chevrolet or GMC customer service to arrange for the parts replacement. Utility vehicle makers like General Motors have pushed for fleet sales of CNG-powered vans and trucks for the past few years and have touted them for their cheaper refueling costs relative to standard gasoline, not to mention the fact that natural gas can be readily sourced from throughout North America (thanks, fracking). According to CNGPrices.com, compressed natural gas sells for about $2.22 a gallon, on average, while the AAA is pegging the average price of gas at $3.34 a gallon. NHTSA has posted information on the recall here. Featured Gallery News Source: NHTSA via Reuters Green Chevrolet GM GMC Natural Gas Vehicles CNG gmc savana
GM wants to have 10 plug-in models in China in five years
Sun, Apr 24 2016Last we checked, General Motors was selling all of three plug-in vehicle models in its home country of the US, and is prepared to make the Chevrolet Bolt EV available on these shores later this year. So it's notable that the automaker is hatching plans to have at least 10 plug-in variants for sale in China within the next five years, according to Hybrid Cars. Which plug-ins are coming remains a mystery. GM started selling a hybrid version of the Buick LaCrosse in China this month. The strategy makes sense, as China is now the world's largest car market, and accounts for about a third of GM's annual revenue. The automaker, which operates in China under the SAIC-GM and SAIC-GM-Wuling joint ventures, sells cars there under the Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, and Boujun badges, and has been doing so for the better part of two decades. Most recently, GM started selling a hybrid version of the Buick LaCrosse in China this month. What we do know is that GM is building its Cadillac CT6 Plug-in Hybrid in China, with distribution to be split between China and the US. That model, which is scheduled to start sales by the end of the year, is being built overseas because of a combination of Chinese government support for new-energy vehicle technology through incentives and the fact that battery-pack maker LG Chem makes most of its cells in nearby South Korea. The plug-ins are part of a broader plan by General Motors to either introduce or substantially tweak about 60 models by the end of the decade. With such new models, GM looks to boost unit sales by as much as five percent a year for the next few years. As for the other nine plug-in models slated for China by 2021, the company is mum. GM spokesman Dan Flores declined to comment to AutoblogGreen. Weekly Recap: GM plans massive new paint shop at Chevy Corvette factory
Sat, May 23 2015General Motors is laying out some serious green to maintain the Chevy Corvette's expansive color palette. The automaker is breaking ground on a new paint shop this summer that's part of a $439-million investment to upgrade the 34-year-old Bowling Green, KY, factory that builds the Stingray. The massive new structure will total 450,000 square feet, nearly half the size of the current 1-million square-foot facility. Construction is expected to take two years and won't impact Corvette production. The upgrades include new robots that save paint and create a better finish, longer, more efficient ovens to bake in the finish, and LED lighting. There's also a dry scrubbing booth technology with a limestone handling system that eliminates waste. GM has invested $135 million in the factory in last four years for the changeover to build the C7 and to relocate its Performance Build Center to Bowling Green. The improvements continue to modernize the Kentucky factory, which has become a tourist attraction in its own right, as more than 56,000 enthusiasts visited it last year. The upgrades are part of a $5.4-billion investment GM confirmed in April that will remake its US footprint in the next three years. The Bowling Green expansion underscores GM's continued commitment to the Corvette, which sold nearly 38,000 copies around the world last year, an eight-year high. "With this major technology investment, we can continue to exceed the expectations of sports car buyers for years to come," North American manufacturing manager Arvin Jones said in a statement. OTHER NEWS & NOTES Takata recall hits 34 million vehicles The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration expanded the Takata airbag recall to an almost unthinkable 34 million vehicles on Tuesday. The recall is part of an agreement reached by the two sides where Takata admitted some of its airbag inflators have a defect, and the deal compels the company to comply with all future regulatory actions and investigations. Takata's airbag inflators were produced with "a propellant that can degrade over time" and lead to ruptures, NHTSA said. Six deaths have been attributed to the flaw worldwide. Investigations conducted by Takata, automakers, and others have not determined the exact cause of the inflator problem, but NHTSA said moisture appears to alter the propellant's chemical structure. It then ignites too rapidly, creates too much pressure that ruptures the inflator, and blasts shards of metal at passengers.
