I built this truck to drive, to  be dependable, comfortable and quick. First, a GM 350 crate motor was installed, that's a new engine not rebuilt. For cruising and economy I put in a "built" 700R4 transmission, with it's overdrive....it loves to get out on the road and roll, smooth and quiet inside. It really is a sweet ride.

The engine is outfitted with an Edelbrock intake, a Holley 650 carb and K&N air filter. True dual exhaust with Hedman headers, high flow Cats, Flow Masters  and        2 1/2" pipes. It sounds soooo good, I love to see the reaction of people when I start it up....what?..... that little truck shouldn't sound like that !  Within the last few thousand miles I've replaced the alternator, power steering pump and radiator. The truck has new front tires, and the rear tires (on Camaro wheels) have a few hundred miles on them, plus the truck comes with an extra set of new rear tires.

The air isn't working but it does come with most of the stuff you'll need to hook it up, including a new compressor and lines.

The truck is 15 years old so there are a few nicks and dings. There are small dents across the top of the tail gate, and a small dent at the edge of the front fender on the drivers side. I tried to get photos but they don't show well. Also, the previous owner was trying to lay out some graphics or something....anyway there are lines on both rear quarters and across the tail gate, they hardly show, you have to be looking for them to see them. However as you can see in the photos the finish really polishes out nice and I think the truck looks great.

The actual mileage on the truck is over 166,000 but since almost everything has been replaced or repaired in the last 10,000 miles or so the actual mileage is just a number.

If you have any questions email me and I'll get back with you as soon as I can. The truck is stickered, licensed, and has a clear title in my name, it's ready to go. Thanks for checking out my SS10-350.

Smaller Cars Endure Big Problems On Crash Test

Wed, Jan 22 2014

In a crash test of 11 of the smallest cars on the market, only one vehicle received an acceptable rating. The rest received marginal or poor ratings in the study, providing evidence that supports a widely held notion that smaller cars are among the least safe on the road. No other vehicle group has performed as poorly on a new crash test than these mini cars, says the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the nonprofit group that conducted the testing. The latest results of which were released Wednesday. The Chevrolet Spark was the only car earning an overall "acceptable" rating on the small-front overlap test, and even that vehicle had its shortcomings, IIHS said. "Small lightweight vehicles have an inherent safety disadvantage," said Joe Nolan, the senior vice president for vehicle research at IIHS. "That's why it's even more important to choose one with the best occupant protection. Unfortunately, as a group, minicars aren't performing as well as other vehicle categories." The Mazda2, Kia Rio, Toyota Yaris and certain Ford Fiesta models all received "marginal" overall grades on the test, while the Mitsubishi Mirage, Nissan Versa, Toyota Prius C, Hyundai Accent, Fiat 500 and Honda Fit all earned "poor" ratings. Results from these sub-compact cars fare much worse than vehicles sized just a little bit bigger, IIHS said. Among 17 cars evaluated in the small category, five earned "good" ratings and five more earned "acceptable." Only introduced a year ago, the small-front overlap test has quickly become a key indicator of differences in automotive safety. IIHS introduced it as a way to replicate what happens when the front corner of a vehicle collides with a tree or utility pole at 40 miles per hour. In the real world, these sorts of accidents are more dangerous than others, in part because they bypass the front-end crush zones on most cars. Without a grade of acceptable or better, they cannot qualify for the IIHS' overall Top Safety Pick+ honor, given annually to the safest models on the market.

Bob Lutz says Tesla remains 'fringe' brand

Sun, Sep 28 2014

We've said it before, we'll said it again: Bob Lutz gives great quotes. From his toilet-themed opinion of global warming to Toyota's deity status, the man knows how to get your attention. His latest? Saying that Tesla Motors is and will remain a fringe brand. Take that, Tesla fanbois. This, of course, is the same fringe company that prompted Lutz and his former colleagues at General Motors to start working on the Chevy Volt around eight years ago. The same fringe company that has easily outsold the similarly priced (but don't call it a competitor) Cadillac ELR with its Model S. Lutz did clarify that the fringe status will only last until Tesla comes out with a mass-market electric vehicle that has a range of 200 to 300 miles. Lutz was on CNBC talking about the TSLA stock's recent performance, and he pointed out that even Tesla CEO Elon Musk says that the California automaker's stock is overvalued these days. Despite its prevalence around these parts, Tesla is not yet a household brand. But the company is working hard to get a cheaper, long-range EV to market in the not-too-distant future, so this fringe thing may not last much longer than that show Fringe did.
