Up for sale is my 1985 Chevy S10 Street Rod / Hot Rod.
I WANT TO BUY ANOTHER CAR...AND THIS ONE NEEDS TO GO!

It is equipped with a healthy 355ci SBC V8, TH350 trans and posi rear end. The body& interior are in very nice driver quality condition. All lights, turn signals, etc. are operating properly. It runs/drives/looks just as I've described it! Has a clear title and because of the year can be titled and tagged as an Antique.

I just bought this nice truck 30 days ago to drive around town instead of my other Pro-Street S-10, now I'm selling them BOTH so I can buy another car I've decided that I want.
The Pro-Street S-10 is also listed here, it's Blue and up on E-Bay  as well.
This is a chance for you to get a NICE S10 Pro-Street/Street Rod for a GREAT price!

Exterior:

No rust. No accidents. Very clean.
Underside & bed are excellent.
Fiberglass cowl hood & rollpan.
Newer chrome front bumper & grille.
Glass and trim are in nice condition.
Paint is base/coat clear/coat which is in nice driver quality condition showing only minor blemishes (chip here and there). This is a nice driver, not a trailer queen.

Interior:

Black bench seat in very good condition. Original steering wheel. Gray carpeting. No headliner. Original door panels.
AutoMeter guages (fuel, oil pressure, water temp, speedo, volts, tach w/shift light).
I've got new red carpet to put in the truck to match the red flames!

Motor:
355 cid 4 bolt, cast crank, forged rods, HP pistons, double roller timing chain, Comp Cams cam (244/244, .501/.501 lift) and Comp valve springs. Reworked iron heads (compression 10.1:1). Polished intake w/ Edelbrock 750 cfm carb, electric fuel pump and a fuel pressure regulator. Mid length headers w/exhaust dumping at axle. HEI ignition. Bed mounted battery & fuel cell, recent 100 amp chrome alternator, new water pump and a new aluminum radiator (runs nice and cool). Runs strong!!!

Trans:

TH350 w/B&M 2200 stall converter. Trans cooler. Hurst ratchet shifter

Rear end:

Chevy 10 bolt posi. / Moser axles 3.73 ratio

Suspension& Brakes:
Front power disc w/rear drum . Power steering. Lakewood traction bars. Nice and tight.

Wheels& Tires
Centerline Warriors. Front tires 165r15's excellent condition. Rear tires 255r15's are worn.

IF I WAS GOING TO KEEP THE TRUCK THIS IS WHAT I WOULD DO AND WHAT I THINK IT NEEDS:
1. Replace gray carpet with red carpet (comes with truck)
2. Replace the cheesy Hurst shifter with a B&M Pro shifter
3. Replace the rear tires
4. Add tailpipes (mufflers exit mid-way of the bed.
5. Wire up the gas gauge to the fuel cell in bed
6. Replace header/collector gaskets (has a small leak)
7. Fix parking brake pedal spring (brake works, but when you release it you have to pull up on it with your toe)
8. Install new headliner

THAT'S IT!
THE TRUCK LOOKS NICE, AND RUNS STRONG!

I paid $6,000.00 for it, and bought the carpet and it's worth more!
I'll TAKE what I paid for it....$6,000.00
It has a clear title, and all I need to do is sign it over to you.

NO TRADES!!!!! REMEMBER I'M WANTING TO BUY ANOTHER CAR!

The USPS needs 180,000 new delivery vehicles, automakers gearing up to bid

Wed, Feb 18 2015

Winning the New York City Taxi of Tomorrow tender was a huge prize for Nissan, even though the company is still working through the process of claiming its prize. The United States Postal Service has begun the process to take bids for a new delivery vehicle to replace the all-too-familiar Grumman Long Life Vehicle, and that will be a much larger plum for the automaker who wins it, perhaps worth more than six billion dollars. The Grumman LLV is an aluminum body covering a Chevrolet S-10 pickup chassis and General Motors' Iron Duke four-cylinder engine. The USPS bought them from 1987 to 1994, and the 163,000 of them still in service are a monumental drain on postal resources: they get roughly ten miles to the gallon instead of the quoted 16 mpg, drink up more than $530 million in fuel each year, and their constant repair needs like the balky sliding door and leaky windshields have led the service to increase the annual maintenance budget from $100 million to $500 million. A seat belt is about as modern as it gets for safety technology, and the USPS says that assuming things stay the same, it can't afford to run them beyond 2017. Last year it put out two triage requests for proposals seeking 10,000 new chassis and drivetrains for the Grumman and 10,000 new vehicles. The LLV is also too small for the modern mail system in which package delivery is growing and letter delivery is declining. The service says it doesn't have a fixed idea of the ideal "next-generation delivery vehicles," but it listed a number of requirements in its initial request and is open to any proposal. Carriers have some suggestions, though, saying they want better cupholders, sun visors that they can stuff letters behind, a driver's compartment free of slits that can swallow mail, and a backup camera. The request for information sent to automakers pegs the tender at 180,000 vehicles that would cost between $25,000 and $35,000 apiece, and it will hold a conference on February 18 to answer questions about the contract. GM is the only domestic maker to avow an interest, while Ford and Fiat-Chrysler have remained cagey. Yet with a possible $6.3 billion up for grabs and some new vans for sale that would be advertised on every block in the country, we have a feeling everyone will be listening closely come February 18. We also have a feeling the LeMons series is going to be flooded with Grummans come 2017. News Source: Wall Street Journal, Automotive News - sub.

Survey says $25k barrier is a problem for EVs

Sun, 01 Dec 2013

The majority of consumers are more or less priced out of the market.
Electric cars are gaining popularity with the general public, but are they still too expensive? According to a survey 1,084 consumers by Navigant Research, a consulting firm located in Boulder, CO, 71 percent want their next car to cost under $25,000, while 41 percent won't go a cent above $20K. Looks like people are even thriftier than we'd originally thought.

Watch how Corvette Racing's new collision-avoidance radar system works

Fri, 22 Mar 2013

When it comes to technology used in racecars, we generally expect it to trickle down to production cars, not the other way around. Well, Pratt & Miller has developed a new rear-facing radar that operates in a similar fashion to what we're used to in modern blind spot detection systems, only it is also capable of tracking cars as they approach and relaying vital information to the driver via a large display screen.
The innovative radar system debuted at last weekend's 12 Hours of Sebring for Corvette Racing, and this system makes perfect sense for endurance races like this since the cars sometimes have to drive through the night and in poor weather conditions.
The radar can detect cars even with poor visibility, and uses easy-to-distinguish symbols for the driver to identify.
