I'm downsizing and moving into the city so I have to sell my truck :( It's a 2002 Chevrolet S10 Crew Cab 4x4 with a 6" Superlift liftkit with red shock boots (http://goo.*gl*/6GSTI2 , remove both "*"). The truck has 121205 miles on it with no check engine lights or error messages. The truck starts up first crank everytime and runs nice. The engine is a 4.3L V6 Vortec with a AUTOMATIC transmission. The airfilter is a K&N Airfilter. The exhaust sounds rich, deep, and clean with the Flowmaster Super 44 series straight pipe exhaust installed. The battery is an Advance Auto part GOLD series battery purchased in May 2014 with a 3 year warranty left on it (receipt included). The tires are 32" Faulken Wildpeak A/T tires with only 2k miles on them (rated to 50k) attached to 15" Eagle Alloy wheels. It should be noted the front driver side tire is different (see pictures), this is because a nail ruined the previous tire and I attached the full size A/T spare.

There is a set of Westin chrome/black running boards attached. The bed has a black plastic bedliner. I've attached a 102" wire whip antenna to the bed of the truck that's connected to a 40 channel Cobra CB that's mounts in the cab. Under the hood there is a super loud PA speaker that is connected to the CB. By flipping one switch the CB acts as a PA Speaker System.

The instrument panel is in full working order, the FM/CD player works and sound great, and the AC blows ice cold. All the seats are leather and the two front seats are powered and heated. Both seats display wear from sliding in and out of the truck. The 4 wheel drive is electronic; therefore, all you have to do is press a button to engage 4Hi or 4Lo.

All the windows are tinted to keep you cool during the summer also since the truck is painted black. There are some scratches and minor dings here and there on the truck but nothing that requires extensive labor to repair. The rear window is a sliding glass window. The taillights are aftermarket smoked taillights.

I've used this truck as a daily vehicle until I purchased my SUV two years ago. Now I use this truck periodically around town just because it's fun to drive and looks nice. I've taken the truck offroad before (not excessively) but never taken it mudding. I've taken great care of this truck considering it's designed to be an offroad vehicle.

This truck turns heads and is fun to drive. I've enjoyed many memories with it but now it's time to sell him. I'm asking $7800. Don't miss this opportunity, I have the vehicle title in hand and ready to go! The lift alone was $1400 for parts, the running boards were $350, the rims were over $400, and each tires is over $170. I'm selling this vehicle below KBB private party pricing. Please make me an offer, I'm moving soon and need to have it sold. I'm not interested in trades since I'm downsizing; however, I'd consider a trade for an atv or utv with cash. Make me an offer. It's ready to test drive and you won't be disappointed.

The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land

Thu, Oct 15 2015

Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top. Recharge Wrap-up: U of M wins Solar Challenge, family attempts record-breaking e-bike ride

Thu, Aug 14 2014

The University of Michigan Solar Car Team has won the 2014 American Solar Challenge. It is the team's eighth national championship, its fifth in a row, and its first using Siemens' product lifecycle management (PLM) software. The race took place over 1,722 miles and seven days traveling across eight states. The team's car, called "Quantum," outpaced the nearest competitor by four hours. Looking forward, Michigan Solar Car Project Manager Pavan Naik says, "The switch to Siemens tools will give us the ability to model and simulate everything and truly allow us to optimize the performance of our new vehicle. As we start on our quest to win the World Solar Challenge in 2015, we'll be leveraging a full complement of PLM solutions." Read more in the press release below. The EcoCar3 competition, in which teams will convert Chevrolet Camaros into hybrid electric cars, begins in September. The various college teams will have four years to lessen the car's environmental impact as much as possible while maintaining performance and, of course, that cool Camaro design. EcoCar3, which is put on by the US Department of Energy and General Motors, kicks off with a workshop in Novi, Michigan from September 16 - 18. Read more at the DOE website at the dedicated EcoCar3 site or watch the announcement video at our previous post. Zap and Jonway Auto are shifting to a high rate of EV production. Zap already has two lines creating the Urbee EV to met demand, and is switching over a third to make electric minivans and SUVs. The company aims to produce 30,000 EVs by 2015 for the Chinese market. Zap says it has a backlog of 25,000 Urbee orders. Read more in the press release below. A family of four hopes to make a world record-breaking, 6,000-mile electric bike journey this fall. The family, which recently drove from Argentina to Montana in a pickup with a camper, will ride from Montana to Maine, then down the East Coast to Florida in an attempt to break the record for longest electric bicycle ride. They'll use two bikes. The Father, Thomas, will ride one of the bikes carrying one of the children, while the rest of the family rides in a support vehicle, with the mother, Dylan, riding the second bike when they can find others to drive. They have started a crowdfunding campaign for some of the equipment needed to document the trip. See the video below or read more at Treehugger.
