Location:

Toledo, Ohio, United States

Toledo, Ohio, United States

This truck has a 454 motor with TBFI out of a 1992 GMC Suburban with 60k miles on it with a 400 Turbo Transmission and 3.08 rear end.  Edelbrock finned, black crinkle finish, valve covers and air cleaner with K&N Filter. I have put in new (rebuilt) steering gear box, new radiator, new battery, new rocker panels, new Pass. Side quarter panel, new steering box, new drive shaft and yokes, New shocks front and back, new bed frame and cover, new metal shaker hood w/454 call out numbers, billet grille, new CD, radio and 6x9 speakers with IPod connection and a new bench seat, new ball joints, new exhaust, refurbished a/c system, refurbished steel wheels with new all season radials, (also included are a set of 5 spoke mags with low profile tires), power brakes/windows/locks/steering. This truck is a super fun driver and/or tow vehicle. (We brought back 2, V-8 motors with trans’ from Dayton, Ohio in the bed.) I have done all the critical, dirty, expensive stuff and it has lived in heated storage last 7 winters. I just spent another $2000 in parts on both sides for gas tanks, sending units, and GM NOS frame structures.  Another huge, dirty job, you don’t have to do or the rest of the list above

I have way over $15,000 in this truck and you would spend more time and money trying to find anything close to this solid and complete and recreating it

You can drive/show/tow/enjoy, right now and continue to personalize it as you go.

This is a good, solid, fun truck about to turn 26 years old!  (You can run historical plates.)

I will accept a $500 deposit through paypal.  Balance in cash upon delivery. Truck can be driven or shipped to destination at owners expense.

On Nov-05-13 at 12:39:59 PST, seller added the following information:

To clarify the odometer reading. When I bought the truck from Illinois they put "exceeds mechanical limits". It showed about 19,000 miles and now shows about 33,000 miles. I have driven it about 2000 miles a year since I've owned it and continued to improve it every year. Please email any questions you have about the truck.

GM reintroduces Tripower name in the worst way possible

Wed, Aug 1 2018

The story of General Motors' use of the Tripower moniker begins way back in 1957, when Semon E. "Bunkie" Knudsen, then General Manager of GM's Pontiac division, directed his engineers to inject more performance into his brand's line of V8-powered automobiles. Fuel injection was an option, but hot rodders flocked instead to Tri-Power (marketed way back when with a hyphen), which grafted a trio of two-barrel Rochester carburetors onto a single intake manifold. A legend was born. And that legend was born of performance. At idle and when full power wasn't required, Pontiac's Tri-Power system used just the middle carburetor, which helped make the setup easier to tune. Depending on the year and model, either a vacuum system or a mechanical linkage opened up the two outer carbs, thereby switching from two barrels to six, and allowing the engine to take in more fuel and air. And it was an easy marketing win – six barrels is better than four barrels, right? Because performance! So, when news filtered in that GM has resurrected the Tripower name, those of us who grew up attending classic car shows and wrenching on old Pontiacs did a double-take. And then we all collectively sighed. Turns out that today's Tripower refers to a trio of fuel-saving measures that include cylinder deactivation, active thermal management, and intake valve lift control, according to Automotive News. And, at least for now, it applies to GM's line of fullsize trucks powered by a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. We're all for saving fuel whenever possible. And we have zero say in how any automaker chooses to market its products and technologies. But, we'll offer our two cents anyway: Relaunching a storied name from the past is fine. Relaunching a storied name from the past while completely overlooking the reasons the name got famous in the first place is only going to irritate the people who remember the name in the first place. Couldn't they just call this new technology package something else? Indian tuner turns Chevy Optra into Mustang 'Eleanor' replica

Fri, 03 Aug 2012

If you are a big fan of automotive oddities, this may come as a little treat. If you are a Shelby or Mustang diehard, prepare to have your sensibilities violated.
The master fabricators at BigDaddyCustoms are the minds behind what you see above. At first, it appears to be a slightly misshapen custom Mustang, modeled after "Eleanor" from Gone In 60 Seconds, but upon further examination, something appears to be amiss. In fact, the custom shop, based in India, has created an Eleanor replica grafted upon a lowly Chevrolet Optra. While it may take a second for the Optra to ring a bell, you should recognize its badge-engineered sibling, the Daewoo Lacetti, used on Top Gear.
We don't know what star would opt for the Reasonably Priced Car in Shelby's clothing, but it's clearly someone more concerned with the aesthetic than the performance credentials of this automotive mash-up.
