Dark Carmine Red with White Top - Original color combination, truck had 1 repaint in the early 90's. The Dark Carmine Red is a match to factory, the white is more of an off white to match a slide in camper. The mirrors and wheels were also painted the same off white. A white pinstripe was added and the tailgate lettering was re-done in correct white decals. Clear is peeling on fender tops and a few other small spots.
350 ci V8, TH400, 14 bolt rear, NP203 full time 4x4 transfer case. All original components except engine. Truck originally equipped with a 400 ci V8. That engine overheated and
was replaced with a crate 350. 166xxx miles on the truck, unknown on the replacement engine.
Original build card from the glove box door is included. The adhesive was giving way, so it is safe in the trucks file.

Body is very straight, no evidence of prior accidents or repairs. Wheel openings, door bottoms, fenders, rockers, tailgate, bed, etc are all clean. Light surface rust only on frame and some bubbling around windshield.
Windshield recently replaced, so no pitting, but it does have a 1/2 inch crack right in the drivers line of sight.
Interior is original Camel Custom Vinyl. Bench seat is in good shape with separation at outer seat bottom seam on driver side. Original vinyl floor cover is in nice shape. All the aluminum sill trim is in good shape. Door panels are original, doors were cut for speakers. All original gauges work properly. Crack in top right corner of gauge bezel. Truck did not orignally come with a headliner, roof paint is very clean, original sunvisors are in good shape. Aftermarket CB Radio, Sony AM/FM Cass with 2 door speakers, Intermitent wiper control, trailer brake and altimiter added by 2nd owner. All work properly - CB is untested, it turns on and lights up but I haven't tried it.
Truck runs and drives very well. I've driven it a few thousand miles over the summer around Montana and it has been flawless. Starts easy, runs cool, goes straight down the road with no wandering or vibration. Brakes work well, transmission shifts smoothly up and down. 4x4 works properly. All the electricals work. I would get in this truck and drive it cross country tomorrow with no worries.
At the beginning of the summer the truck got an extensive tune up and a few repairs. New cap, rotor, coil, plugs and wires. New air filter and gasket, New belts, New fuel filter, Replaced selector for dual fuel tanks it had a slight leak. Both tanks work and switch properly. Brake fluid flush. New vacuum modulator for trans. New exhaust manifold gasket and new dual exhaust from manifolds back with cross over pipe and stainless mufflers. Only other issue found was a leaking transfer case. Something to address, but not a priority.
I bought the truck in the spring after a long search with the intent of keeping it a long time. I looked at a lot of beat up trucks before finding this one. It was oblivious the truck had been taken care of the minute I saw it and I bought it right there. I then had the truck gone through and everything it needed taken care of. I spent a bunch of money getting everything done and doing the exhaust right thinking I would have the truck long term. With the best laid plans, life can intervene, I found something else I have to have, so the truck has to go.
I bought it from the 2nd owner who had purchased it in 1989 to haul his slide in camper and fishing boat. He only drove it in the summers and kept is stored inside. There are marks on the wheel wells in the bed from sliding the camper in and out. Summer only driving saved the body and the inside storage save the interior. He had maintained the truck well until he sold it.
The topper seen in some of the pics is included as is a fitted bedmat and a front bumper mounted spare tire carrier.

Common Dodge Ram 1500 vs. Chevrolet Silverado breakdowns
Wed, May 4 2016These two trucks are famous for their ability to get the job done. Still, even the toughest vehicle can have mechanical problems at some time. What if we match the Dodge Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado head to head? Let's find out more about common repairs for each model. Also, learn some tricks to pay for car repairs. Clunky Steering Both Dodge and the Chevy owners sometimes notice bumping and clunking when steering. This might be more noticeable when driving over bumps. The cause is usually different in each truck though. In the Dodge Ram, clunky steering is more likely due to a defective lower ball joint. Replacement costs around $300 - $400, parts and labor. Clunky Chevy Silverado steering is probably a steering rack failure. This problem appears more often in trucks with over 90,000 miles. Silverado steering rack repair will run you up to $1,000 or more. Starting Woes For the Chevy Silverado with over 130,000 miles, you might notice trouble starting. This problem may appear occasionally at first, but it typically gets worse. Excluding a weak battery, the culprit is usually the starter. Replacement will cost you around $330 - $500. Of the total cost, $90 is for labor only. Now the Dodge Ram might make a ticking sound when starting, especially on models with over 94,500 miles. The noise often disappears after the engine warms up. These symptoms may indicate a broken exhaust manifold. Repair costs range from $800 - $900. Burning Oil & Gas Gauge On The Blink Sometimes, the Dodge Ram burns oil much faster than normal. In models with over 125,000 miles, this often points towards a leaky intake manifold gasket. A knocking sound may also appear with acceleration along with possible engine misfire. The cost to repair is around $200 - $300. The Chevy Silverado has its own surprises, especially when you've filled the gas tank but the gauge still reads low. Or the needle fluctuates widely from low to full while driving. In trucks with over 120,000 miles, it's likely due to a faulty fuel sensor. You might need a full fuel pump replacement, which can cost you up to $820, parts and labor. Water Inside And Poor Heat The Ram 1500 rear window has been known to leak. You might notice the back seat and floor wet after a rainstorm. This is more common in trucks with over 65,000 miles. Resealing the Ram 1500 rear window costs around $150 - $250.
Ford GT dominates Le Mans qualifying, gets slapped with performance adjustment
Fri, Jun 17 2016Fifty years after Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon drove the Ford GT40 to victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ford is poised for a historic return to the Circuit de la Sarthe. The new Ford GT took the top two qualifying positions in the LMGTE Pro class, and four of the top five. Ferrari's 488 filled in the rest of the spots in the top seven, the first two from AF Corse. In other words, we're primed for a reboot of the classic Ford-Ferrari feud at this year's race. Or not, as the ACO, which organizes the 24 Hours of Le Mans, announced sweeping pre-race Balance of Performance (BOP) adjustments this morning that make this year's GT class anybody's race. In LMP1, last year's overall winner Porsche locked up the top two spots with the 919 Hybrid and will lead the entire field at race start. Toyota's two-car factory effort followed with qualifying times 1.004 and 2.170 seconds behind the pole lap. Audi rounds out the manufacturer-backed LMP1 class in fifth and sixth. Full qualifying results can be found here. The storyline for the GT cars is perfect - some say too perfect. Ford's class-leading times came after BOP adjustment to the Corvette Racing C7.R before qualifying. BOP is intended to level the playing field in the class by adjusting power, ballast, and fuel capacity. (Check out this explainer video for more, or even just if you love French accents.) But the process is riddled with unknowns and ripe for accusations of sandbagging. That is, if the Ford cars were intentionally slow in practice they could hope for BOP adjustment to improve their race chances. On the Corvette side, last year's GTE Pro winner went from the top of the field to the bottom, barely improving from practice to qualifying. If you think Le Mans is as rigged at the NBA Playoffs, well, it's not that simple. Because if Ford and Ferrari held back until qualifying - the eighth-place Porsche 911 RSR is three-and-a-half seconds off the class pole time - it was a pretty dumb strategy. This morning, the ACO tried to put things back in order by limiting the boost in the Ford GT's twin-turbo V6 and adding 11 pounds of ballast. Ferrari was also given extra weight but allowed more fuel capacity. The Corvette and Aston Martin teams were both given breaks on their air restrictors, which will allow their engines to make more power. Both Ford and Porsche also received extra fuel capacity.
These are 2014's best-selling cars and trucks
Tue, Jan 6 2015Now that 2014 is no more than a set of numbers on spreadsheets, at last, the grist mill gets its first real load to chew on. The number one selling vehicle in America last year was the Ford F-Series, a fact that should surprise you only if your family name is Van Winkle and your naps tend to last 38 years, which is how long the Ford pickup has ruled our buying landscape. Even though series sales were down 1.3 percent, it still racked up 753,851 units. That's 2,065.3 sales per day, every day, all year. The Chevrolet Silverado, up 10.3 percent for the year, was still a daylight second at 529,755 units. The cab-and-bed love continued into third place with the Ram 1500-3500 trucks, gaining 23.6-percent year-on-year to clock 439,789 units. The robust turnout at The Bighorn and Jeep helped Fiat-Chrysler increase its sales by 16 percent, past the two-million mark. Our number one car? The Toyota Camry, staying in first place with a 4.9-percent sales boost to 428,606 sales, trailed again by the Honda Accord at number five with 388,374 sales. Accord sales rose six percent, and if it's any consolation to Honda for coming in second - not that it needs one - it is the only manufacturer to have three vehicles in the top ten. The rest of the list: the Nissan Altima with 335,644 sales (+4.7%), the Honda CR-V with 355,019 (+10.2%), the Toyota Corolla/Matrix combo with 339,498 (+5.9%), the Honda Civic with 325,981 (-3.1%), and the Ford Fusion with 306,860 sales (+2.9%). Total sales for the year were up six percent to 16.5 million vehicles, a volume not seen since 2006, aided by a strong December that was up by 11 percent year-on-year. Ford was the top selling brand overall but sales didn't really budge from 2013, while Subaru rocketed up 21 percent to finish with 513,693 sales. At the precious end, BMW, Audi, Porsche and Land Rover all had record years, and Kelley Blue Book thinks we could be looking at 17 million sales for the next two or three years. Looks like it's time to start making hay again...
