THE BODY WORK AND PAINT WAS PERFORMED AT A VERY REPUTABLE BODY SHOP IN MISSOULA WHICH HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR OVER 35 YEARS AND IT SHOWS BEAUTIFULLY.DOOR AND HOOD GAPS ARE PERFECT AND THEY ACTUALLY CLOSE LIKE WHEN THESE TRUCKS WERE NEW INCLUDING THE TAILGATE,WITH A ALL STEEL BODY THAT IS NICE AND STRAIGHT.I DROVE THESE TRUCKS WHEN THEY WERE NEW SO I HAVE A PRETTY GOOD IDEA WHEN YOU FIND A TIGHT ONE.THE PAINT HAS A MIRROR GLOSS SHINE AND HAS NEVER BEEN BUFFED SINCE PAINTED,ONLY WAXED ONCE,AND HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT 90% OF THE TIME.THERE IS A SMALL SCRATCH ON THE PASS. SIDE (PICTURED) AND TWO SMALL PAINT CHIPS ON THE FRONT OF THE HOOD FROM BUGS.THIS TRUCK ALSO RECEIVED NEW ALUMINUM WHEELS AND NEW LT235/85R16 10 PLY TIRES WITH NEWLY PAINTED BUMPERS,NEW GRILL,NEW TOOL BOX,NEW LINE-X BED LINING,TINTED SIDE WINDOWS,NEW REAR TINTED SLIDING WINDOW,AND NEW FRONT GLASS.THE INTERIOR RECEIVED NEW DASH PAD,GAUGE BEZEL,DOOR PANELS,RUBBER MAT WITH 1/2" JUTE PADDING UNDERNEATH,VISORS,SEAT BELTS,CD PLAYER,300 WATT AMPLIFIER,NEW NERF BARS.THE ENTIRE FRAME WAS SANDED,WITH CAB,BOX AND FRONT CLIP REMOVED AND COMPLETLY UNDERCOATED WHICH INCLUDED UNDERCOATING THE ENTIRE BOTTOM OF CAB,BOX WITH FUEL TANKS BEING PULLED AND COMPLETELY UNDER COATED WITH ALL RUBBER FUEL LINES REPLACED AND NEW EXHAUST FROM THE HEADER PIPES BACK WITH EXTRA LONG GLASS PACKS AND TAIL PIPES THAT GIVE IT A NICE DEEP MELLOW TONE ALL BRAND NEW 18 MONTHS AGO,2500 MILES AGO.
THE STEERING IS VERY TIGHT AND THERE ARE NO RATTLES IN THE CAB LIKE MOST OF THE TRUCKS NEARING THIS AGE.I HAD BUSINESS AT THE LOCAL GMC DEALER AND THE SERVICE WRITER HAD TOLD ME THAT THIS TRUCK HAD BEEN SERVICED THERE IT'S ENTIRE LIFE.I DON'T KNOW IF THERE IS ANY TRUTH TO THAT OR NOT BUT HE WAS KIND ENOUGH TO OFFER THE INFORMATION.
I HELD SEVERAL OF OUR CAR CLUB MEETINGS AT THE SHOP WHERE THIS TRUCK WAS BEING REBUILT SO I HAD A CHANCE TO SEE VARIOUS PHASES OF THE WORK BEING COMPLETED SO WHEN IT CAME UP FOR SALE I PURCHASED IT FOR DOING SO LANDSCAPING IN OUR YARD AND I PLANNED ON KEEPING IT FOR THE WINTER BUT 5 DAYS AGO IT STARTED TO SMOKE LIGHTLY FROM THE LEFT BANK SO I PUT ANOTHER 100 MILES ON IT AND NOW IT SMOKES VERY HEAVY FROM THE LEFT BANK WHEN YOU LET OFF THE FUEL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND SOME AT A IDLE FROM THE LEFT BANK ONLY.
SO YOU CAN FIGURE ON A NEW MOTOR UNLESS IT HAS A BURNT VALVE.THE WARN HUBS WORK AS THEY SHOULD AND 4 WHEEL DRIVE WORKS WELL IN HIGH AND LOW RANGE.THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS VERY WELL AND THE FLUID IS NICE AND PINK.THIS TRUCK WAS PAINTED THE MONTANA STATE GRIZ FOOTBALL TEAM MAROON WITH THE GRIZ LOGO AIR BRUSHED ON THE SIDES WHICH LOOKS PRETTY COOL.IF YOU KNOW THE 73 - 87 GENERAL MOTORS TRUCKS YOU KNOW IN THE 1ST MILE DRIVING IT IF THE TRUCK IS BEEN USED OR HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF AND YOU WILL BE SURPRISED HOW WELL THIS ONE ACTS AND DRIVES AND AGAIN IT WILL NEED ENGINE WORK OR A REPLACEMENT SO MY LOSS IS YOUR GAIN.THE ONLY ITEMS THAT DO NOT WORK ON THIS TRUCK IS THE INTERIOR LIGHT AND THE LEFT FUEL TANK.I HAVE SET A VERY REASONABLE RESERVE SO PLEASE DON'T ASK THE AMOUNT,I WANT IT TO BE FAIR FOR EVERYONE.
ALL I WILL SAY IS THAT YOU CAN NOT BUILD THIS TRUCK FOR MY RESERVE AND I AM ALWAYS OPEN TO REASONABLE OFFERS.
I HAVE SOLD SEVERAL OF MY 1950'S-1960'S CARS & TRUCKS AND SEVERAL CLUB MEMBERS CARS OVER THE YEARS ON E-BAY WITH 100% SATISFACTION SO BID WITH CONFIDENCE.
HAPPY BIDDING!

May 2016: FCA wins, Ford and GM stumble on weak car volumes
Wed, Jun 1 2016The May 2016 sales numbers are in, and it looks as though FCA is getting some vindication for boldly cancelling two slow-selling car models. Meanwhile, Ford saw overall sales dip and GM's May volume took a big dive versus the same month in 2015. While Marchionne's decision to axe the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Dart has drawn criticism as being short-sighted, it's working for FCA so far. Although the Dart and 200 aren't out of production yet and no capacity has been shifted to crossover or trucks, May's numbers show that the emphasis on Jeep and Ram models makes sense right now. FCA's US sales rose 1 percent last month compared to May 2015, putting the year-to-date total at 955,186 vehicles, an increase of 6 percent compared to the same period last year. Standouts included the Jeep Renegade, Compass, and Patriot, and the Fiat 500X. Ram pickup sales were down 3 percent. And your fun fact is that Alfa Romeo sales were up precisely 10 percent, for a total of 44 4Cs sold versus 40 in the same month last year. At FoMoCo, the Ford brand took a hit to the tune of 6.4 percent from May 2015 to 2016, registering 226,190 sales last month. Lincoln showed improvement on its modest numbers, going from 9,174 to 9,807, a 6.9 percent increase. Overall, Ford was down 5.9 percent for the month to 235,997; despite the slump, year-to-date total Ford sales are up 4.2 percent to 1,112,939. Strong sellers included Escape, Expedition, F-Series, and Transit - big stuff. Most small and/or efficient models (Fiesta, Focus, Fusion, C-Max) saw sales slides. Fusion sales were also down, likely due to effects of model changeover to the freshened 2017 model. Ford has promised four new crossovers and SUVs by 2020 and if things keep trending this way the company will be able to sell them, but things could change in the next four years. GM saw the worst of it for domestic brands. Retail and fleet sales were down for each of the four divisions, with the May 2016 total dropping 18 percent to 240,450 vehicles. GM's year-to-date sales are down 5.0 percent in 2016 to 1,183,705. Both the Sierra and Silverado were down significantly, and the majority of Chevy, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac nameplates saw sales decreases, with both small cars and larger utilities included. Not even big stuff could help GM this month, it seems. We'll have more on the rest of the industry's May sales as those figures trickle in.
Chevy Corvette gets Valet Mode with Performance Data Recorder [w/video]
Mon, 18 Aug 2014For the 2015-model-year, Chevrolet introduces Valet Mode for the Corvette, an enhancement to the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) already available and to your peace of mind. The PDR already captures 720p HD video with a windshield-mounted camera, records interior audio with a cabin microphone and gathers telemetry data using GPS, saving the data to an SD card in the glovebox. You can then watch your track-day antics with various information overlays on the center console screen.
Valet Mode will let you hit 'Replay' when your car gets pulled up front smelling vaguely of fricasseed clutch. Turned on by entering a four-digit code, it also locks the interior storage spaces and turns off the infotainment system. It can't be turned off until the code is re-entered. There's a press release below with more information as well as a video that explains how it works, with the obligatory dig at the 'Vette's biggest foe.
Plug In 2014: VIA makes the case for 'free' plug-in hybrid work vans, trucks
Fri, Aug 1 2014If you're a fleet manager who's been waiting anxiously for the chance to buy a plug-in hybrid van from Via Motors, your wait is almost over. If you work for the right fleet, anyway. David West, the chief marketing efficer for VIA Motors, took AutoblogGreen for a ride around the San Jose Convention Center in a Via van sporting an Electric Blue paint job as part of the Plug In 2014 Conference this week and gave us an update on how things are coming along. The big news is that the Via PHEV van production is going to start by the end of September. Via can currently build two vans an hour at its production plant in Mexico, or about 16 a day and could easily double that. "That would get us to 20,000 a year with two full lines running," West said. "We have the capacity." "There is no way gas can compete with electric." – David West, Via Motors But they can't sell that many quite yet. By the end of December, around 350 Vans will be made, mostly for a $20-million program from the Department of Energy (DOE) and the South Coast Air Quality Management District that will see the vehicles used by fleets that will report energy data to the Idaho National Lab. Via is also finishing up CARB certification for both the van and the company's plug-in hybrid pick-up truck. About 50 percent of Via's technology in the truck will not need to be tested again, since it's the same as what's in the van, but things like crash tests will need to be done twice. Despite the progress, this is not where Via hoped it would be today. The bankruptcy of battery supplier A123, "took about a year off our timeline," West said. "It's been getting a little slow getting it to market, there have been some challenges, particuarly since we had the country's worst recession right in the middle of this wrap up, but it's inevitable in my mind. There is no way gas can compete with electric." Maybe that's why FedEx has expressed an interest in buying around 5,000 units, West said. FedEx already has some pilot vehicles, just like Verizon does, and PG&E wants to replace all of their gas trucks with electric vehicles, which would be another 3,000 sales, he said. Besides the fuel savings, vehicles like these, with easy on-site power generation, could also work wonders in post-disaster situations, he said, since they could replace the need for generators.
