THIS IS A 1971 CHEVROLET STEPSIDE 20 SERIES PICKUP TRUCK. IT'S HAD LOTS OF UPGRADES DONE TO IT TO MAKE IT A REALLY NICE AND UNUSUAL TRUCK. IT HAS A 327 ENGINE THAT I WAS TOLD IS A HIGH HORSEPOWER CORVETTE ENGINE. I HAVEN'T CONFIRMED THAT, BUT IT RUNS GREAT AND DOES SOUND LIKE IT HAS SOLID LIFTERS. IT'S AN ORIGINAL 4 SPEED TRUCK THAT NOW HAS A MUNCIE TRANSMISSION AND A HURST SHIFTER. IT ALSO HAS POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. IT IS AN ORIGINAL GREEN TRUCK,BUT I'M NOT SURE IF IT WAS THIS EXACT SHADE OF GREEN. THE PAINT LOOKS VERY NICE WITH ONLY A FEW SMALL CHIPS. IT HAS AN AFTERMARKET TACH. AND ALL OF THE FACTORY GAUGES WORK PROPERLY. IT HAS AN ROOF MOUNTED CONSOLE WITH A PIONEER AM/FM/CD PLAYER IN IT. THE INTERIOR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH BUCKETS,CONSOLE, AND ADDED LIGHTING,THAT ALL OLD VEHICLES WERE SHORT ON. IT ALSO HAS A SLIDING REAR WINDOW. THE TIRES ARE LIKE NEW,AND MOUNTED ON VERY NICE CHROME WHEELS. IT HAS HEADERS AND DUAL EXHAUST, WITH A REAL TONE TO IT. THE 8' STEPSIDE BED IS VERY SELDOM SEEN, AND IN GREAT SHAPE. IT HAS HAD DIAMOND PLATE INNER SIDES ADDED AND CHROME TOP RAILS. THE TAILLIGHTS ARE L.E.D. AND ARE REALLY NICE. THE CHROME BUMPERS AND FRONT GRILL ARE ALL EXCELLENT. THE UNDERSIDE OF THIS TRUCK IS VERY CLEAN. I THINK THAT THE ROCKERS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THIS TRUCK IS NOT A SHOW TRUCK, BUT IT IS A VERY NICE PRESENTABLE DRIVER THAT DOESN'T RATTLE, SHAKE, OR CLUNK. YOU CAN START ENJOYING IT TODAY, AND IT WOULD DO WELL AT LOCAL SHOWS AND CRUISE NIGHTS. BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ARRANGING SHIPPING.

GM, Pilot will build EVgo fast chargers at 500 truck stops across U.S.
Thu, Jul 14 2022All of our maps showing electric vehicle charging stations across the U.S. are going to need an update. Today, General Motors, Pilot and EVgo announced plans to work together on a nationwide DC fast charging network. The plan calls for 2,000 charging stalls that can deliver up to 350 kW to be installed at up to 500 Pilot and Flying J travel centers in the U.S. The goal is to have DC fast chargers available in 50-mile intervals across the country. The new charging stations will feature GM's "Ultium Charge 360" branding and "Pilot Flying J" logos but will not be limited to drivers of GM EVs. The plugs will use CCS connectors and be available to anyone. GM EV owners can take advantage of benefits, including the ability to make exclusive reservations, get discounts on charging costs and streamline the charging process with Plug and Charge and in-vehicle apps that can provide real-time charger availability. The first installation phase will take place in 2023, and "the bulk of the installations" should be completed by 2025, EVgo CEO Kathy Zoi said during a conference call with reporters announcing the plan. "We're gonna get going immediately and commence all of that engineering and planning stuff," she said. "We've got a pretty orderly plan." Pilot CEO Shameek Konar said the company expects the new EV charging stations to coexist with the current fuel infrastructure. "An average Pilot Flying J location is about 10 acres," Konar said. "This will be in addition to all of our gas pumps. The way I think about it is, this is a new source of energy that is going to coexist with gas for quite some time. We can debate how long, but we need to serve both groups of customers." Installing DC fast chargers at hundreds of Pilot's travel centers — aka truck stops — means there should be food, drinks, restrooms, WiFi and even showers available while you wait for an EV to charge. Pilot recently announced its “New Horizons” plan that will invest $1 billion in upgrading Pilot travel centers with more premium amenities, including expanded seating and lounge areas. While the exact amount of time it will take to charge an EV using these new stations will vary on the EV and its current state of charge, most EVs can refill from a low state of charge to around 80 percent in 20-30 minutes on a fast charger. The new stations are future-proofed to deliver up to 350 kW, a charge rate that few EVs today can handle.

Weekly Recap: Autonomous driving goes commercial in Nevada
Sat, May 9 2015Nevada granted Daimler Trucks North America the first license to run an autonomous commercial vehicle on public roads in the United States Tuesday, marking another milestone in the technology's rapid advancement. Gov. Brian Sandoval and Daimler truck chief Wolfgang Bernhard promptly used the license to lap Highway 15 near Las Vegas in a newly revealed Freightliner Inspiration Truck. It was a clear signal that autonomous driving is big-rig reality, though it's still a long way from widespread use. Nevada certified two of Daimler's Freightliner Inspiration Trucks, which use the company's Highway Pilot system with a stereo camera, radar, and lane-keeping collision-prevention features to regulate the brakes and steering. The radar component has a long-range sensor that can cover 820 feet at an 18-degree angle and a shorter-range unit that stretches 230 feet at a 130-degree angle. The Inspiration trucks are based on the existing Freightliner Cascadia Evolution model used on US roads. In addition to the autonomous technologies, it also has futuristic design cues, including blue lighting in the front and a new hood and grille. While there are only two Freightliner Inspiration trucks in existence, Daimler expects to bring the Highway Pilot system into mass-produced big rigs by 2025, in time to capitalize on the market's predicted growth. The German truckmaker predicts the global hauling market will triple by 2050, and the United States will be a key part of that growth. Trucks carry 69.1 percent the nation's domestic freight tonnage and hauled 9.7 billion tons of freight in 2013, according to the American Trucking Association. Daimler expects autonomous driving to augment this growth, and perhaps evolve the role of the truck driver. Still, the company points out autonomous tech is not meant to replace drivers, but to assist them and relieve fatigue and monotony on long hauls. The driver has to stay in control for passing, in city traffic, and when hooking up the trailer. The company said autonomous driving also offers the potential for improved fuel economy – tests showed a five-percent gain – and lower maintenance costs. Daimler also said the technology could reduce congestion on the road. Much of this is attributable to the constant flow of traffic, which is aided by autonomous driving. While the benefits are becoming increasingly apparent, autonomous technology is still met with skepticism.
