1966 CHEVROLET K-20 3/4 TON FACTORY LINE BUILT 4 WHEEL DRIVE.  350 V-8  4 SPEED. ALL ORIGINAL FACTORY ROCKWELL TIMKIN 221 DIVORCED TRANSFER CASE.  ODOMETER SHOWS 53,400 MILES, WHICH JUDGING BY SEAT AND CONDITION OF INTERIOR, I BELIEVE TO BE CORRECT.

EXTERMELY RARE. PRODUCTION NUMBERS FOR 1966 K-20 IS APPROX. 1670 TOTAL UNITS.  THIS K20 WAS ORDERED WITH RARE FACTORY CAB MARKER LIGHTS, AND WORKING FACTORY GM SPOTLIGHT.

I AM THE 3RD OWNER.  I PURCHASED THE TRUCK 3 YEARS AGO TO DRIVE AND ENJOY.  I HAVE DONE ALL OF THE COSMETIC WORK TO THE TRUCK, BEING MINDFUL OF ORIGINALITY.  IT WAS MY INTENTION TO BRING THE TRUCK BACK TO FULL MECHANICAL ORIGINALITY BY INSTALLING THE 292 WITH ORIGINAL EXHAUST, BUT SINCE THE TRUCK RUNS AND DRIVES WELL, I WILL LEAVE THE MECHANICAL RESTORTAION UP TO THE PERSON WHO BUYS IT. THE ORIGINAL ENGINE IN THE TRUCK WAS A 292 6 CYLINDER, WHICH THE FIRST OWNER REPLACED WITH THE 350.  IT WAS MY INTENTION TO INSTALL A CORRECT 292 6 CYLINDER IN THE TRUCK, WHICH I DO HAVE, BUT THE 350 RAN EXTREMELY WELL, SO I WILL LEAVE THAT DECISION UP TO THE NEW OWNER.

THE TRUCK RUNS AND DRIVES VERY WELL.  IT HAS THE FACTORY 4:56 REAR END, SO TOP SPEED IS AROUND 55-60 MPH.  THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS SMOOTH, CLUTCH IS GOOD, THE TRANSFER CASE IS QUIET AND THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE WORKS JUST AS IT SHOULD.  IT HAS THE ORIGINAL FACTORY LOCKOUTS AND HUBS.

I HAVE REPLACED THE INNER AND OUTER ROCKER PANELS WITH NEW, AND REPAIRED ONE CAB CORNERS WITH NEW SHEET METAL.  CAB FLOORS WERE SOLID.  I REPAIRED THE CAB MOUNTS, AND INSTALLED NEW CAB PERCHES AND BUSHINGS.  THE TRUCK IS VERY SOLID.  FENDERS, AND BOX WERE COMPLETELY RUST FREE. I HAD THE BODY WORK DONE  PROFESSIONALLY PAINTED WITH FACTORY ORIGINAL COLOR 507 LIGHT BLUE SINGLE STAGE JUST AS IT WAS ORIGINALLY. THE PAINT IS NOT PERFECT, BUT VERY GOOD. THE DRIVER DOOR OPENS AND CLOSES FINE, BUT WILL NEED ADJUSTMENT AS IT SCRAPES ON THE ROCKER PANEL, I HAVE SHOWN PICTURES TO ILLUSTRATE THIS.   THE TRUCK HAS CUSTOM CAB TRIM WITH ALL CHROME INTACT, CAB TRIM SAILS, DELUXE HEATER AND FULL GUAGES.  I HAVE INSTALLED A NEW BED WOOD KIT FROM CLASSIC PARTS, WITH NEW STRIPS AND HARDWARE.  I HAVE INVESTED OVER 8K IN THIS TRUCK IN REPLACEMENT PANELS, PAINT WORK BED WOOD KIT, AND LABOR.

MECHANICALLY THE TRUCK IS STRONG.  IT DOES NOT BURN OIL.  IT DOES LEAK OIL IF THE TRUCK SITS FOR EXTENDED PERIODS.  ALL SUSPECT U-JOINTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED IN DRIVE SHAFTS.   I HAVE REPLACED THE RADIATOR AND BATTERY.  BRAKES ARE GOOD, NEWER EXHAUST, STEERING IS TIGHT.   ALL GLASS IS GOOD.  IT HAS FACTORY TINTED GLASS, BOTH WINDOWS AND WING WINDOWS WORK AS THEY SHOULD.  NEW WINDOW FELT IS NEEDED IN DRIVERS WINDOW, WHICH ARE AVAILABLE. HEATER, WIPERS, LIGHTS, SIGNALS, EMERGENCY FLASHER, AM RADIO, LIGHTER, GAS GUAGE, TEMP GUAGE OIL, PRESSURE GUAGE, BRIGHT LIGHTS, INTERIOR LIGHT, HORN, VENTS ALL WORK.  INTERIOR IS NICE.  ALL ORIGINAL. DASH IS UNCUT, AND SEAT IS ALMOST PERFECT WITH VERY LITTLE WEAR.  TRUCK HAS SEATBELTS.

THE TRUCK HAS THE ORIGINAL 7.50x16 TIRES WITH SPLIT RIM WHEELS.  I ALSO HAVE A SET OF GOOD 16 INCH GOODYEAR M/T TIRES(33X12.5X16) AND STOCK 16 INCH 8 LUG WHEELS THAT WILL GO WITH THE TRUCK.  THE ORIGINAL TIRES HAVE GOOD TREAD, THEY LOOK GREAT,  BUT RECOMMEND USING THE GOODYEAR TIRES FOR ANY EXTENDED DRIVING.  THE WHITE SPOKE WHEELS THAT ARE SHOWN IN A FEW OF THE PICTURES WERE SOLD.

THE TRUCK IS LOCATED IN 20 MILES WEST OF MINNEAPOLIS, MN.  IT MAY BE SEEN BY APPOINTMENT. I ENCOURAGE PERSPECTIVE BUYERS TO LOOK AT TRUCK IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.  I WILL BE GLAD TO ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL ANY TIME AT 612-799-0143. MORE PICTURES ARE AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST.   I HAVE SET RESERVE LOW IN COMPARISON TO NADA BOOK VALUE, AND IN ALL FAIRNESS TO BIDDERS, CHOOSE TO NOT DIVULGE RESERVE. IF YOU HAVE A LESS THAN 10 FEEDBACK OR NEGATIVE RATING PLEASE CALL ME BEFORE YOU BID SO I CAN VERIFY YOUR INTENT TO PAY.

THIS 1966 K-20 IS BEING SOLD AS-IS.  THERE IS NO WARRANTY IMPLIED OR CONSENTED.  IT IS A 47 YEAR OLD TRUCK THAT WILL NEED AN OWNER WHO CAN CARE FOR AND MAINTAIN IT CONSISTANTLY.  IT IS NOT A TRUCK THAT CAN BE USED FOR TODAY'S HIGHWAY TRAVEL,  ALTHOUGH IN THE RIGHT SITUATION IS A GREAT RURAL DAILY DRIVER, FARM TRUCK, RANCH TRUCK, VACATION HOME, HOBBY FARM, SMALL BUSINESS ADVERTISING TRUCK.  OR IS A PERFECT TRUCK TO TAKE THE REST OF THE WAY FOR A SHOW TRUCK.   ALL PARTS ARE READILY AVAILABLE,  ALL MECHANICAL PARTS ARE FOUND AT NAPA, AND ALL BODY AND RESTORATION PARTS ARE AVAILABLE FROM LMC, CLASSIC PARTS, JIM CARTER, FILLING STATION OR FROM 4-5-6 CHEVY PARTS.

GREAT OPPORTUNITY AND INVESTMENT!  THESE TRUCKS ARE VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND AND MOST CERTAINLY WILL INCREASE IN VALUE.  PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL WITH ANY QUESTIONS.

THANK YOU

Chevrolet donates 300 vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Super Storm Sandy took out a lot of automobiles in its path of destruction through the Northeast last October. The number surpassed 250,000 at last count, and a few of those were owned by Chevrolet - cars either sitting on dealership lots or waiting at port to be shipped off. Rendered unsellable by the water damage inflicted by Sandy, these vehicles were facing the crusher. But Chevy didn't send them there.
Instead, Chevy had a better idea: It will be donating 300 of these vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders at Guardian Centers in Perry, GA. Chevy is the official automotive partner of Guardian Centers, which is an 830-acre facility that trains first responders in disaster preparedness. Junked cars are practically a consumable commodity there, where a full-size cityscape simulator gives trainees an entire urban center in which to train for all sorts of rescue operations and disaster scenarios.
Chevy says its particular vehicles will be used "in conjunction with role players for wide area searches, traffic congestion in emergency situations, counter terrorism, public order and mass casualty exercises." While grim scenarios all, we're certainly glad there are people out there preparing for the unexpected. While a zombie apocalypse isn't officially on the list of potential disasters to prepare for, when the virus hits, we'll be hot-footing it to Perry, GA to hang with these guys and gals.

Read This: Auto Extremist advocates for Corvette as brand with multiple models [w/poll]

Fri, 25 Jan 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette really grinds Peter De Lorenzo's gears. Or, more accurately, the self-anointed Auto Extremist has an issue with what he sees as mismanagement of the legendary sports car by General Motors executives. In a new editorial on his website, De Lorenzo argues it's time to split Corvette off from Chevrolet to create an all-new brand, complete with a model range with at least three new takes on the sports car. Capable of fully leveraging the successes of the Corvette Racing program and brandishing the full might of GM's technical prowess, the Corvette brand would theoretically give Porsche something to sweat over.
Sure, that sounds like a party, but given GM's troubled track record when it comes to launching (let alone managing) brands, we say that's slippery slope that could just as easily end with the whole Corvette franchise in the scrap bin. Either way, the notion is certainly an interesting one. Head over to Auto Extremist to take in the full editorial, and then let us know what you think in Comments. Should GM split off its most storied nameplate?

GM to restore legendary Corvette damaged in sinkhole accident

Fri, Dec 5 2014

Car lover's hearts' sank when they saw images of bent and destroyed classic Corvettes at the bottom of a sinkhole last February after the floor of the National Corvette Museum gave way. General Motors announced Wednesday it would restore the one millionth Corvette ever produced to its former glory. The 1992 convertible was heavily damaged when a 40-foot deep sinkhole opened beneath a bevy of rare cars at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Since then, GM has been slowly restoring the classic cars, though five of the eight that caught in the sinkhole were determined to be too damaged to repair. This November, the 2009 Corvette ZR1 Blue Devil was the first car to be returned in mint condition to the Museum, according to Autoblog. It suffered significant damage but was still drivable after being pulled out of the debris. The one millionth Corvette is still in bad shape. The automaker is estimating six months worth of work to restore the car, which sustained paint scratches, rear-suspension damage and a mangled front fender.
