ATTENTION!, ATTENTION! I NEVER UNDERSTOOD WHY PEOPLE WHO LIST VEHICLES HERE HAD TO BE SO OVERLY SPECIFIC ON COVERING THEMSELVES IN THE ADDS. THIS ADD TRUMPS OR OVERIDES ANY VERBAL COMMUNICATIONS ON PHONE OR E-MAIL. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO COME AND VEIW MY TRUCK AND SPEND AS MUCH TIME WITH IT AS YOU WOULD LIKE. THIS IS MY LISTING, AND I WILL TRY TO BE AS THOROUGH AS POSSABLE. THIS IS A USED 1963 CHEVROLET TRUCK THAT HAS ( WHAT I AM PRETTY SURE )THE ORIGINAL 283 V-8 AND POWERGLIDE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. ALL NUMBERS SUPPORT THEM BEING THE ORIGINAL WHEN THIS TRUCK ROLLED DOWN THE ASSEMBLY LINEWHEN NEW. I BELEIVE THIS TO BE THE ORIGINAL ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION THAT CAME WITH THIS TRUCK WHEN PRODUCED NEW, PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS AND I CAN LOOK AT ANY NUMBERS THAT YOU DIRECT ME TO. THIS TRUCK HAD BEEN STORED AWAY SINCE 1984 AND I ENDED UP WITH IT A YEAR AGO. (SEE 2 PICTURES BEFORE RECONDITIONING) THIS TRUCK WAS EXTREMELY SOLID WHEN I GOT IT, HOWEVER I HAD MY EMPLOYEES DO A NICE "DRIVER QUALITY" RECONDITIONING INCLUDING BODY AND PAINT. I WILL NOT USE THE WORD "RESTORATION" BECAUSE THIS IS SUBJECTIVE AND I DONT WANT ANYBODY TO MIS-INTERPRET THIS ADD. THE PAINT JOB LOOKS BETTER THEN 85% OF WHAT IS OUT THERE, BUT IT IS NOT PERFECT. SAME WITH THE BODY WORK. THE TRUCK LOOKS BEAUTIFUL FROM 5-10 FEET AWAY. IF YOU LOOK AT IT SUPER CLOSE, YOU WILL SEE SOME IMPERFECTIONS. THE CLEAR COAT HAS NOT BEEN WET SANDED AND BUFFED. THE BODY WORK WAS NOT DONE OR INTENDED TO BE DONE AS IF IT WAS A 67 VETTE. WITH THAT SAID I WILL EXPLAIN ALL OF THE ITEMS I REPLACED. THE 283 ENGINE HAS BEEN GONE THROUGH PRETTY COMPLETELY WITH NEW PISTONS, RINGS,CAM,LIFTERS,OIL PUMP,ALL GASKETS AND SEALS,CAP ROTOR POINTS AND CONDENSOR. NO MACHINE WORK WAS DONE TO THE BLOCK OR HEADS. THE TRUCK HAS ONLY BEEN DRIVEN UP AND DOWN MY ROAD. THE ENGINE HAS NOT REALLY BEEN THROUGH ANY TYPE OF BRAKE IN YET. THE POWERGLIDE TRANSMISSION HAS HAD A FILTER, GASKET, AND FRESH FLUID INSTALLED. THE ALTERNATOR,WATER PUMP,BELTS ARE ALL NEW. THE CARBURATOR HAS HAD A KIT INSTALLED BUT WILL NEED SOME ADJUSTMENTSAND TUNING. AS FAR AS THE BRAKE SYSTEM, THE SHOES, WHEEL CYLINDERS, MASTER CYLINDER AND FRONT BRAKE HOSES ARE ALL NEW. THE SHOCKS ARE ALL NEW.AS FAR AS THE WHEELS AND TIRES, THEY WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE BUMPERS ARE IN FAIR TO GOOD CONDITION WITH NO RUST HOLES IN THEM. THERE IS SOME RANDOM SURFACE RUST ON THEM. THEY ARE DEFINATELY VERY USABLE BUT NOT PERFECT .THE FRONT GRILLE LOOKS VERY NICE BUT HAS A THUMB SIZE DING IN IT. ONE WOULD PROBABLY CONSIDER REPLACING THE MUFFLER ON THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. THE RUBBER SEALS AROUND THE FRONT AND REAR GLASS ARE NEW. THE DOOR OPENING JAMBS HAVE NEW SEALS AS WELL. THE BENCH SEAT WILL NEED TO BE RECOVERED, AS FAR AS THE INTERIOR OF THE CAB, IT HAS A NEW RUBBER "CARPET" ON THE FLOOR. THE DOOR PANELS HAVE BEEN REPAINTED BUT NOTHING ELSE INSIDE THE CAB HAS BEEN RECONDITIONED. IT HOLDS ITS ORIGINAL "PATINA". THE BED HAS NOT BEEN REASSEMBLED BUT I DO HAVE THE ORIGINAL METAL STRIPS THAT WOULD GO BETWEEN THE OAK RAILS, IF THAT IS THE TYPE OF BED YOU WOULD WANT TO RE-INSTALL. THIS TRUCK IS BEING OFFERED FOR SALE LOCALLY SO I DO RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THE AUCTION EARLY. I HAVE A VERY REALISTIC RESERVE THAT IS VERY OBTAINABLE IF YOU WANT A TRUCK LIKE THIS. JUST ADD UP THE WORK (EVEN IF YOU DID IT YOURSELF) AND THE COST OF PARTS AND THE COST OF THE TRUCK BEFORE WORK. IT WOULD EXCEED MY RESERVE. I REQUIRE A $500 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT THROUGH PAY-PAL WITHIN 24 HRS OF AUCTIONS END. I REQUIRE CASH OR CERTIFIED CHECK, MONEY ORDER THAT HAS CLEARED BEFORE THE TRUCK LEAVING. PLEASE EVERYONE CHECK WITH YOUR WIVES AND BANKERS BEFORE PLACING A BID, BID TO OWN. PLEASE DO NOT BID JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE CURIOUS AS TO WHERE THE RESERVE IS. I ACTUALLY HAD A GUY TELL ME "I DID NOT THINK I WOULD HIT THE RESERVE AMOUNT, I DONT HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY YOU" PLEASE CALL MIKE FOR ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE. 540 353-2269. I WILL DO MY BEST TO ANSWER THEM AS THOROUGHLY AND HONESTLY AS I CAN. I ENCOURAGE YOU TO COME AND TAKE A LOOK AT THIS BEAUTIFUL TRUCK, I AM TYPICALLY AVAILABLE TO SHOW THE TRUCK MONDAY -FRIDAY FROM 9:00 AM TO 6:00 PM.

GM laying off more than 4,000 workers Monday morning

Sat, Feb 2 2019

According to reports from Automotive News, The Detroit News, and CNN, General Motors plans to begin laying off more than 4,000 salaried workers starting Monday morning. In a statement to AN, a spokesperson for the automaker said, "We are not confirming timing. Our employees are our priority. We will communicate with them first." We've been expecting layoffs at General Motors since November, 2018. At the time, the Detroit-based automaker announced it would seek to shed 8,100 salaried employees, shut down five assembly plants in North America, and kill off several slow-selling models. One month earlier, GM offered buyout packages to 18,000 workers and said it would seek to cut its global workforce by 25 percent. A spokesperson said at the time the moves were "proactive steps to get ahead of the curve by accelerating our efforts to address overall business performance." The cost-cutting moves are expected to save GM up to $2.5 billion in 2019 and as much as $6 billion by 2020. David Kudla, CEO and chief investment strategist of Mainstay Capital Management, referred to the impending culling as "Black Monday" and told The Detroit News that the layoffs would begin around 7:30 a.m. and continue in waves throughout the coming days and weeks. GM plans to deliver on its fourth-quarter and full-year 2018 earnings report on Wednesday. President Donald Trump plans to deliver the annual State of the Union address a day earlier on Tuesday. We expect to hear plenty more from both sides over the next several days.

They were: 2016 Connected Green Car of the Year: Chevy Malibu Hybrid 2016 Luxury Green Car of the Year: Volvo XC90 T8 2016 Green SUV of the Year: Honda HR-V The Volvo was nominated in two categories, but it did not win the Connected Green Car of the Year. Speaking of non-winners, the other green SUV finalists were the BMW X1 XDrive28i, Hyundai Tucson, Mazda CX-3, and Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. The other Luxury Green Car finalists included the BMW x5 xDrive40e, Lexus RX 450h, Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid, and the Mercedes-Benz C350e. Finally, the Audi A3 e-tron, BMW 330e, Toyota Prius, and Volvo XC90 T8 were the runners up for Connected Green Car. 2016 Connected Green Car of the Year, Green SUV of the Year, Luxury Green Car of the Year Winners Announced WASHINGTON, Jan. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Green Car Journal has announced the winners of its prestigious 2016 Green Car Awards at a press conference held today during the Washington Auto Show's Public Policy Day in Washington DC. Distinguished as 2016 Luxury Green Car of the Year™ is Volvo's new XC90 T8. The Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid tops the field as 2016 Connected Green Car of the Year™ and Honda's HR-V earns Green Car Journal's 2016 Green SUV of the Year™. "These are stand-out vehicles in an increasingly sophisticated and appealing field of 'green' cars," said Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of Green Car Journal and CarsOfChange.com. "To make the cut as a finalist is a real achievement in itself considering the considerable competition in the market today. Rising to the top as award winners means these three exceptional vehicles set a benchmark in the auto industry's effort to create vehicles that are desirable and efficient, while also achieving environmental milestones so important for our driving future." The Green Car Awards are a key feature of The Washington Auto Show, the "public policy show" on the auto show circuit and one that puts a priority on safety and sustainability. "We are extremely proud of our partnership with Ron Cogan, whose eagerly anticipated suite of awards help shape the national conversation on the innovations that will drive our industry and country forward," said Geoff Pohanka, chairman of The Washington Auto Show.

GM seeks national mandate for zero-emissions cars

Fri, Oct 26 2018

DETROIT — General Motors says it will ask the federal government for one national gas mileage standard, including a requirement that a percentage of auto companies' sales be zero-emissions vehicles. Mark Reuss, GM's executive vice president of product development, said the company will propose that a certain percentage of nationwide sales be made up of vehicles that run on electricity or hydrogen fuel cells. GM says a nationwide program modeled on such a requirement in California could result in 7 million electric vehicles, or EVs, on U.S. roads by 2030. California wants 15.4 percent of vehicle sales by 2025 to be EVs or other zero emission vehicles. Nine other states, including Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York, have adopted those requirements. In January, California Governor Jerry Brown set a target of 5 million zero-emission vehicles in California by 2030. The Trump administration criticizes California's ZEV mandate, saying it requires automakers to spend tens of billions of dollars developing vehicles that most consumers do not want, only to sell them at a loss. Reuss told reporters that governments and industries in Asia and Europe "are working together to enact policies now to hasten the shift to an all-electric future. It's very simple: America has the opportunity to lead in the technologies of the future." A national mandate also would create jobs and reduce fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and "make EVs more affordable," Reuss added. GM, the nation's largest automaker, will spell out the request Friday in written comments on a Trump administration proposal to roll back Obama-era fuel economy and emissions standards, freezing them at 2020 levels instead of gradually making them tougher. Under a regulation finalized by the Environmental Protection Agency at the end of the Obama administration, the fleet of new automobiles would have to get 36 miles per gallon by 2025, 10 mpg higher than the current requirement. But the Trump administration's preferred plan is to freeze the standards starting in 2021. Administration officials say waiving the tougher fuel efficiency requirements would make vehicles more affordable, which would get safer cars into consumer hands more quickly. GM on Thursday said it doesn't support the freeze, but wants flexibility to deal with consumers' shift from cars to less-efficient SUVs and trucks.
