Up for auction is a 1961 CHEVY APACHE 10 short bed half ton step side! This is a very nice looking truck that gets lots of attention everywhere it goes! I purchased the truck from the original owner last year after trying for years so I got lots of history with it! finances have since changed and I need to find it a new home now! this has been used on a ranch its whole life by the same owner! very well maintained and loved by all! I will do my best to describe all the work and parts that have been gone over in the recent years but please look close and read the ad carefully and ask any questions you may have before bidding! So the 350 small block was put in the truck in the late 1980s and never got driven much on the road just used to move things around and haul feed! over the years the gaskets and seals got dry so I removed it and freshened it up with a set of completely rebuilt cast iron heads, valves are 202 / 160 with 70cc chambers (the heads on it were 64cc not set up for unleaded fuel) with new fel pro head bolts and a full gasket set, new timing chain, water pump, oil pump with welded pick up, fuel pump, front and rear main seals, brass freeze plugs, chrome pulleys, belt and hoses! less than a hundred miles since the over haul! runs like a top! transmission came out and got pressure washed and painted at the same time! all the brake hardware and shoes got replaced a few years back and are still like new! on the inside all the knobs for the vents, choke, throttle and cigarette lighter is also new! glove box insert & heater core is a few years old as is the ignition switch, glove box lock and door lock! All of the wiring inside and out was redone in the last few years and like new! fuel tank and sending unit are a few years old and like new! heater controls are working and were put in it used from another truck in good condition! seat is original and in need of a cover or new upholstery but useable! floor mat and clutch, brake and gas pedals are in good shape! the sun visor is in poor condition and could use a replacement! The paint is ok but not of high quality and there are some pitting and scratches and crazing here and there but looks good from 10 feet away! there is next to no rust on this truck it was parked in the barn most of its life! wheels are aftermarket aluminum in good shape just needing a polish and tires are 33 12.50 15s with about 50% tread remaining! If I missed something please ask or if you are a serious buyer send me your phone number and I will call you! bid to win only if you have permission from your wife or any one else that has a hand in the finances or decision making! I have the right to end the auction early if I get a good offer! this truck is sold as is and were is with no warranty and shipping is on the buyer! I will assist any way I can with meeting a transporter or loading on a trailer if needed! if you intend on driving it home I suggest having it taken to a shop of your choice and checked out for a pre trip inspection at your expense! I will deliver it any place in Klamath falls at no charge to you! please don't ask if it will make it to Timbuktu! that depends on your luck, experience and ability to drive or maintain a vehicle! these old trucks have been around long enough to get there and back already and I am sure they broke down once or twice along the way! I want a $200 non refundable deposit within 48 hours of the end of the auction to prove you are serious! the truck or title will not be released or delivered any place without full payment cleared! title is from Oregon and is free and clear with no brands! if you are zero feedback or less than 10 message me with your contact info before you bid or I may cancel and block your bids! please don't waste my time or yours! I have sold a lot of vehicles on ebay with 100% feedback and try hard to keep it that way! Happy bidding Thank you and good luck! GM applies for LT5, LTX trademarks... are new small block variants coming?
Mon, 29 Apr 2013Recently discovered General Motors trademark applications for LT4, LT5, LT88 and LTX have observers wondering what kind of high-performance offerings could be on their way. A new LT4 would mark a return of the engine designation first used on the Corvette Grand Sport, SLP Pontiac Firehawk and SLP Chevrolet Camaro SS from 1996 and 1997. Supposition at Corvette Forum - which provided advance intel on the C7 like these leaked images - believes a new LT4 could go into the high-performance trim of the next-gen, 2015 Camaro that would be more powerful than the 580-horsepower Camaro ZL1.
Seeing an LT5 again would also be déjà vu - in its former life it was a 5.7-liter V8 for the C4 Corvette ZR-1 from 1990-1994 designed by Lotus, producing from 370 hp to 405 hp. A mix of rumor and hope is that the new LT5 will be a supercharged evolution of the 6.2-liter LT1 (pictured) placed in the new C7 Corvette, and that it will go into the C7 version of the ZR1 pumping out something like 700 hp.
The LTX trademark is, as with that last letter, a complete mystery. If the "X" isn't a generic way to denote the whole LT family, it's wondered if it LTX could refer to a crate motor offering like the LSX.
GM seatbelt recall affects over 1m Silverados and Sierras
Fri, Apr 15 2016The Basics: General Motors will recall 895,232 examples of the 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 pickups in the US. The campaign will also affect the trucks in markets worldwide, and the total number the company will recall is 1,037,982. The Problem: A steel cable connects the seatbelt to the vehicle, but over time repeated bending can cause the part to fatigue and separate. Injuries/Deaths: None reported. The Fix: Dealers will enlarge the side shield opening and install a pusher bracket on the tensioner. Technicians will also replace the entire tensioner assembly if necessary. If You Own One: GM will contact owners about the recall. The company hasn't said when those notifications would begin. More Information: There are still about 3,000 new examples of these older pickups at dealerships. Until mechanics fix the problem, these vehicles are subject to a stop-sale. Similar problems have affected the General's vehicles in the past. In 2015, the company recalled over 400,000 units of the 2011-2012 Chevrolet Malibu for fatiguing cables. It also hit over a million Lambda platform crossovers in 2014. GM Recalling Certain 2014-15 Pickups to Repair Seat Belts DETROIT – GM is voluntarily recalling 895,232 model year 2014-15 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 pickups in the United States because the flexible steel cable that connects the seat belt to the vehicle can fatigue and separate over time as a result of the driver repeatedly bending the cable when entering the seat. This issue was discovered through warranty data, and there have been no reports of crashes, injuries or fatalities related to this issue. For trucks in the field, dealers will enlarge the side shield opening, install a pusher bracket on the tensioner, and if necessary, replace the tensioner assembly. The recall in the United States includes a stop-sale of approximately 3,000 new 2014 and 2015 model year pickups still on dealer lots. Dealers will repair the vehicles prior to delivering them to customers. Customers will be notified by General Motors. They also can look up their vehicle identification number (VIN) at either https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/ website or at https://my.gm.com/web/portal/ownercenter to see if their vehicle is part of the recall. GM also will voluntarily recall and repair these models in other countries where they are sold, including Canada, Mexico, and several countries in Latin America and the Middle East.
Impala SS vs. Marauder: Recalling Detroit’s muscle sedans
Thu, Apr 30 2020Impala SS vs. Marauder — it was comparo that only really happened in theory. ChevyÂ’s muscle sedan ran from 1994-96, while MercuryÂ’s answer arrived in 2003 and only lasted until 2004. TheyÂ’re linked inextricably, as there were few options for powerful American sedans during that milquetoast period for enthusiasts. The debate was reignited recently among Autoblog editors when a pristine 1996 Chevy Impala SS with just 2,173 miles on the odometer hit the market on Bring a Trailer. Most of the staff favored the Impala for its sinister looks and said that it lived up to its billing as a legit muscle car. Nearly two-thirds of you agree. We ran an unscientific Twitter poll that generated 851 votes, 63.9 percent of which backed the Impala. Muscle sedans, take your pick: — Greg Migliore (@GregMigliore) April 14, 2020 Then and now enthusiasts felt the Impala was a more complete execution with guts. The Marauder, despite coming along later, felt more hacked together, according to prevailing sentiments. Why? On purpose and on paper theyÂ’re similar. The ImpalaÂ’s 5.7-liter LT1 V8 making 260 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque was impressive for a two-ton sedan in the mid-Â’90s. The Marauder was actually more powerful — its 4.6-liter V8 was rated at 302 hp and 318 lb-ft. The ImpalaÂ’s engine was also used in the C4 Corvette. The MarauderÂ’s mill was shared with the Mustang Mach 1. You can see why they resonated so deeply with Boomers longing for a bygone era and also captured the attention of coming-of-age Gen Xers. Car and DriverÂ’s staff gave the Marauder a lukewarm review back in ‘03, citing its solid handling and features, yet knocking the sedan for being slow off the line. In a Hemmings article appropriately called “Autopsy” from 2004, the ImpalaÂ’s stronger low-end torque and smooth shifting transmission earned praise, separating it from the more sluggish Mercury. All of this was captured in the carsÂ’ acceleration times, highlighting metrically the differences in their character. The Impala hit 60 miles per hour in 6.5 seconds, while the Marauder was a half-second slower, according to C/D testing. Other sites have them closer together, which reinforces the premise it really was the little things that separated these muscle cars. Both made the most of their genetics, riding on ancient platforms (FordÂ’s Panther and General MotorsÂ’ B-body) that preceded these cars by decades. Both had iconic names.
