selling my 1960 apache. runs/drives/stops. i did the mechanic work over the winter. has a 235 6 cyl with 3 speed trans. [3 on the tree]  it was a dual carb /dual exhaust 6 but i put a stock 1960 6 cyl back in it. it still has the dual exhaust on it but i only used 1 side of it. you can put a y pipe on it and connect the other side if you want to, or drop a small block in it and you have the exhaust already there or just remove the one side. i only connected it with a piece of flex pipe for now. interior is nice with a reupholstered seat and carpeted floor. oak wood bed installed/chrome bumpers/chrome grill new rubber and nice 15 inch wheels. has a vinyl snap on bed cover that needs a good hot day to stretch back out and fit. it shrunk due to very cold weather and was not snapped on. i painted and detailed the engine bay and painted the motor before i installed it. hei distributor also installed. still has generator and voltage regulator. carb was rebuilt but from sitting it needs going over again. it has a little hesitation but is driveable as is. manual choke also. solid lifter motor that has the solid lifter sound. frame/cab/bed has no rot. fenders/doors/1 rocker has repairable rot. windshield has crack but i have a good used one that goes with the truck. i only have time to work on cars in the winter due to being in the ice cream business during summer months. if i can sell it before winter GREAT if not ill do the body and paint work next winter. i have the shop / the know how and the funds to complete it, i just dont have the time right now. with all that being said, im putting it out there for sale. take it to the next level and you will have a great truck well worth doing. im sure there is much more info that you would like before you bid so send me your phone number and we can talk. all lights/gauges/charging system etc work. the only thing that does not work is the horn.{needs new relay]. IM NOT GOING TO GIVE IT AWAY so dont ask.  this was a texas truck that was painted white in 2004. it was blue before that. GOT A FREE RELIST FROM EBAY SO I LOWERED THE RESERVE AND I FIGURED WHY NOT TRY AGAIN.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray convertible headed for Geneva debut

Mon, 28 Jan 2013

While most of the world is still coming down from all the hype surrounding the debut of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this month, we're already looking to the future. And according to Autoweek, the next chapter in the C7 story will unfold at the Geneva Motor Show in March. That's right, General Motors is reportedly using the Swiss stage as its venue to debut the Corvette Stingray convertible.
If this strikes you as odd, you aren't alone. After all, with a car that's such an American icon, we'd fully expect Chevrolet to unveil it here on our shores in either Chicago or New York. But according to Autoweek, GM is looking to boost export sales of its halo car, and since the C7 was engineered to compete with the world's best and brightest, showing it off in Geneva is somewhat of a smart move. What's more, those with sharp memories will recall that GM used the Geneva expo to debut the sixth-generation C6 Corvette convertible back in March 2004, so there's also a precedent.
Details surrounding the Corvette Stingray convertible are still slim, though we fully expect the 6.2-liter V8 and choice of either six-speed automatic or seven-speed manual transmissions to carry over unchanged. Prototypes spotted on the road showed the car fitted with a cloth convertible roof, as well.

Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war

Sun, 30 Dec 2012

A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?

Some 2012-13 Chevy Volts may not have enough battery coolant

Mon, Jun 23 2014

The 2012 and 2013 model year Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in vehicle may have a battery glitch caused by low coolant levels. No recall has been issued and General Motors is taking care of the issue at no cost to drivers. Some of the affected Volts may have lower-than-advisable coolant levels because of some pesky air pockets in the car's cooling circuit. When the coolant levels get too low, the charging system for the battery powering the car's onboard generator (i.e. the Rechargeable Energy Storage System, or the RESS) may be shut down, turning one's Volt into a run-of-the-mill gas-powered car, and a pricey one at that. The Car Connection says GM is advising owners of the '12 and '13 Volts to contact their local Chevy dealer for a free fix. GM representatives didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from AutoblogGreen for more details. We believe this is a separate issue than the one that brought 8,000 Volts back to the dealers for a battery coolant fix, what GM called a "voluntary customer satisfaction effort," a few years ago. General Motors sold 23,094 Chevy Volts last year after selling 23,461 Volts in 2012, so that fix-it list may get fairly lengthy. Check out a GM-Volt.com user thread related to this issue here. *UPDATE: Chevrolet spokesman Randy Fox confirmed in an e-mail to AutoblogGreen that the company issued a service bulletin to dealers that they may need to top off coolant levels on certain Volts because of the issue, and that the vehicle will "return to normal charging operation" once that's done.
