Up for sale is a rare 1959 GMC 1/2 ton 100 series truck - it is a hard-to-find short wheelbase with its original frame, but has a replacement 5 lug modern rear end w/ highway gears and a Chevy 350 V8 engine and what I think is a Turbo 350 or 400 automatic trans behind it. It is a rare custom cab model that came w/ all the chrome stuff and although not pictured I do have the chrome grill and front bumper that goes in it. It is also a rare big rear window truck and it has solid floorboards and steps with no holes if you can believe that. It does not appear to have any bondo in it, and except in the typically rotted cab corners. There is some rust in the front fenders, but has it has a great cab w/ real nice roof inside and out that is not rusted out above windshield or rear glass areas. There is no carb or radiator in the engine bay, so not sure what year it was last driven but the engine is free and should run if you monkey with it - I did pick up a GM quadrajet carb I can let go with it to help you get her going again. Hood is nice, bed is pretty nice etc - look at these pictures and see what you think. This truck was originally Aqua Blue and White but someone has sprayed it with black spray paint and I think someone replaced the doors many moons ago and they look to have been red maybe - so while its a little ugly, you need to look beyond the spray paint and see what it really is - a super cool and highly sought after truck that is more solid than a lot of 55-59's you will see in this price range and this one has the highly sought after big rear window and V8 automatic drivetrain. Automatic is shifted in the floor - this truck came from the factory a 3 speed I think. Will make somebody one heck of a rat rod or rot rod, etc....

Also has the rarer deluxe heater and no radio hole butchering - perfect dash. Has what looks to be a factory or dealer installed tachometer too.

Call Steve at 256-486-1988 to ask questions - Come see or pick it up in Eva AL 35621.

Former Fisker CEO has some advice for Tesla Motors

Wed, Oct 22 2014

Former Fisker Automotive CEO and ex-Chevrolet Volt vehicle-line director Tony Posawatz has some words of caution for Tesla Motors. The long-time automaker executive questions the California automaker's long-term viability – and gives some praise – in a talk with Benzinga, which you can listen to below. While the all-wheel-drive D that Tesla unveiled earlier this month in Southern California wowed a packed crowd, Posawatz (starting at around minute 4:45 in the interview) says Tesla would've been better off taking the resources it expended toward that Model S upgrade and directed them towards speeding up the development of a more affordable plug-in. Perhaps a number of investors agreed, since the company's stock fell the day after the D was announced. Posawatz says Tesla has been over-reliant on the sale of ZEV credits. Posawatz also says that Tesla has been over-reliant on the sale of zero-emissions vehicle credits in California for its earnings and questions whether the automaker will ever work at a large enough scale to sufficiently drive down costs and make consistent profits. Tesla CEO Elon Musk would take issue with this characterization. Posawatz first made his mark in the plug-in vehicle world when he was the vehicle-line director at General Motors for the Volt extended-range plug-in from 2006 to 2012. Later that year, he joined extended-range plug-in maker Fisker Automotive as its CEO, though quit that job during the summer of 2013 as the company was descending into insolvency. He joined the Electrification Coalition this past March. News Source: Benzinga Green Chevrolet Fisker Tesla Electric PHEV Tony Posawatz
