55 Chevy 3100 First Series shop truck with gorgeous natural patina that only Mother Nature can produce. Truck is an excellent driver! Complete S-10 chassis swap. Power steering and power disc brakes combined with modern suspension make it drive like a much newer vehicle. 2 inch dropped spindles up front and only a 1 inch lowering block out back keep the ride nice and smooth and maintain all the factory specs.

The engine is a strong running 350 that has a nice lumpy cam and a mild head work. Edelbrock Torker intake and Holley carb. Has a new billet serpentine belt kit to drive the new water pump, power steering pump, and alternator. It's backed up by a firm shifting Turbo 400 transmission.

Wheels are Boss 338's in 18x8 and 18x9.5 with new 245/40's up front and 295/35's in the rear.

Interior is shaped up nicely. Seats are power and heated. They came from a Tahoe and are very comfy. Floor and firewall is carpeted and insulated with Fat Mat. All glass is original, with matching patina, except the roll up door glass. They are new with new felts.

This is a turn key, ready to drive hot rod. It is my daily driver and currently my only transportation. I depend on it daily to get back and forth to work. So that should speak for the reliability! I have driven it on a 950 mile round trip with no issues other than she likes gas pretty good! It doesn't get fuel mileage like your wife's Altima! It is not a new vehicle. It shakes and rattles and squeaks. It has surface rust and dents and dings all over it. I call it "CHARACTER"!  Yes it is a good candidate for a slick paint job if that's what you're wanting to do. It's in pretty good shape compared to some basket cases I looked at before buying this truck. Not much rust at all in the cab, front fenders, hood and running boards. Does have some rust in bed area but not too bad. It was a real "farm truck" and hauled its fair share of fertilizer over the years.

It has little loose ends that I have yet to finish. The factory gauges are mechanical and all seem to work but I haven't hooked them up. I used the small trio of gauges to ensure accuracy and just have never tied the factory ones in. The speedometer works but I removed the cable to match up a new one and haven't done that yet either. I use an app on my phone for speedo so hasn't been too big a deal for me. All the factory gauges light up a cool blue/green and even dim down with a twist of the new headlight switch. The truck has all new wiring throughout from front to rear also.

Other little stuff...
Wood in the bed. I have been trying different ideas. The old wood that was in it when I got the truck is in it now. I'm still not satisfied so I haven't bolted the wood in.

Cab corners.. I intentionally left them as they are trying to keep with the grungy old shop truck look. The are rusted out and need replacing if that's your cup of tea. No you cannot see daylight from inside the cab. The flooring covers the area and kinda conforms around the cab creating a nice flat area for the seats to sit on.

Door panels are not on. I have some but was only planning to use as templates to make new ones.

If you have any questions please feel free to call me. I will be happy to answer. It's a great old truck and gets tons of attention. I love the look of it and the fact that I can drive it safely in traffic at highway speeds. You more than likely won't pass another like it on your commute! Fly in and drive this one home with confidence. Thanks for looking and please only serious bidders that intend on completing the deal. Jason 912-670-1518

Recharge Wrap-up: Batty battery covers, Mercedes at Silvretta, new Hyundai Sonata Hybrid available in 2015

Tue, Jul 8 2014

Apparently, Chevrolet Volt battery covers make suitable homes for bats. As part of an Eagle Scout project, Matthew Netherland created 30 bat houses out of scrapped Volt battery covers donated by Chevy. 22 of the bat houses will be set up near hydroelectric dams in Michigan. Each bat house will accommodate 100 bats, and divert the scrapped materials from the landfill. The battery covers also make great nesting boxes for wood ducks, which General Motors has previously set up at its Milford, Michigan Proving Ground. Last weekend was the Silvretta E-Auto Rally, which saw emissions-free vehicles cross the Montafon Mountains in Austria, including cars from Mercedes-Benz. These cars included the B-Class Electric Drive, B-Class F-Cell, SLS AMG Electric Drive and even the Smart Fortwo Electric Drive. Also on hand for the Silvretta Classic Rally was a V8-powered C111, a 1978 Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC and 300 SL Roadster. Read more in the press release, below. BMW has finalized pricing for the i8 in the US at $135,700 (plus $925 in destination charges). In addition to the base price tag, which we've known for a while, BMW Blog has the complete pricing guide with options and packages. Most of the i8 orders were the Pure Impulse World package, which includes various aesthetic upgrades. It also provides membership to the BMW i Pure Impulse Program, which allows you to "to enjoy innovative ideas and trends in a variety of areas, including home styling, culture, gourmet gastronomy, design and many more." Head over to BMW Blog for more information. The new generation of the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid will arrive later than the rest of the model lineup, confirms Car and Driver. While the gas-powered Sonatas get updated now for the 2015 model year, the Hybrid remains unchanged until late this year or early 2015, when it will arrive as a 2016 model. Hyundai is offering a 2015 Sonata Eco edition, but with 28 miles per gallon in the city and 38 mpg highway (32 combined), it's not quite as appealing as the current Sonata Hybrid's 36/40/38 figures. Read more here. In June, average US fuel economy was 25.5 miles per gallon, making it the fifth straight month above 25 mpg, according to University of Michigan. The average window sticker ratings from vehicles sold in June dropped slightly from 25.6 mpg in May. The year started at 24.9 mpg in January, and hasn't dropped below 25 mpg since.

Motor Trend puts Chevy Camaro Z28 and Porsche 911 GT3 Head 2 Head

Mon, Dec 29 2014

Motor Trend admits, "This is an unfair comparison." But that doesn't make it any less fun to watch when they pit a Camaro Z/28 against the Porsche 911 GT3. The former has a 7.0-liter V8 with 505 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque shifted through a six-speed manual. The latter has a 3.8-liter flat-six with 475 hp and 324 lb-ft shifted through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Yet those are only the little disparities – the big disparities are mass and money: the Camaro weighs 3,882 pounds and costs $76,150 as-tested, the Porsche weighs 3,267 pounds and costs $145,785. But they're both about hardcore performance, so MT takes them out on the street, to the drag strip, to the parking lot for figure eights and a skidpad test, and finally to Big Willow for Randy Pobst to give his professional assessment. Remember when a lotta people spent a lotta time debating Pirates vs. Ninjas? This is like that, only it's the "haul-ass good-time car" vs. the "track surgeon." Enjoy the debate in the video.

Toyota tops Kelley Blue Book's Resale Value Awards

Tue, 27 Nov 2012

Kelley Blue Book announced its annual Best Resale Value Award winners, and we weren't too surprised to see the list dominated by Japanese automakers - mainly Toyota and Honda. KBB hands out the awards based on the projected residual value of mostly all 2013 model year vehicles, and Toyota skated home with a number of awards including 10 of the 22 overall categories and having five of its products in the top 10 for models with best resale value. KBB's Best Resale Value Awards were announced in the same week as the ALG Residual Value Awards, and there were many similarities between both lists, especially when it came to Toyota.
To come up with its winners, KBB measures depreciation over the first five years of ownership, and looks for the cars it expects to hold its value the best after this time; on average, the report says the 2013 model year vehicles will lose 61.8 percent of its value in five years. Of the 22 categories, 15 slots were filled by Toyota, Honda and Nissan products, while the Camaro and Porsche (Cayenne and Panamera) each took home a pair of awards. If Toyota has anything to be upset about in this list of cars, it's that categories for Hybrid/Alternative Energy Car and Electric Vehicle went to the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Volt, respectively.
The overall top 10 models for the best resale value in 2013 are, in alphabetical order:
