Lexington, North Carolina, United States

Up for sale is a 1955 3100 half ton pick-up WITH AWESOME PATINA PAINT, which I fitted nicely on an 81 2 wheel drive short bed C10 chassis. Has a clear open NC title.  All motor, brake and chassis parts are easy to get at any local part store. Chassis has been sanded and painted semi-gloss black, has brand new 2 in. drop spindles and rear has flip kit with 2 in. blocks, also has new front wheel bearings, front calipers and pads, rear wheel cylinders, and all brake rubber hoses. This truck has a 1989 fuel-injected 350 TBI motor and a 5 speed transmission that only has 89,000 original miles. The motor has a fresh tune-up, along with new valve covers and gaskets and air cleaner, has a brand new two core aluminum radiator and new two chamber exhaust, which sounds great. The truck rear-end is a 3.73 ratio out of a S10 to allow for rear wheel spacing. I have put new universal joints in the drive shaft and all new shocks. The fuel tank is new and is for a 91 s10 blazer but works perfect for this frame and has a new fuel pump and located behind the back axle between frame. The wheels are new grey boss 338 20x10 in rear in 18x8 in front. Tires are used but has plenty of tread.  All wiring came out of the 89 truck. The body is in decent shape with very little rust, someone previously put cab corners and done other body work, door jams and rocker panels are solid. Firewall has been smoothed and painted to give it a fresh clean look. The bed has very nice oak floor with gas lid cut out. Interior has been sanded and painted a beautiful red and white. Seat is out of an 81 full size and has been recovered to match interior as well as the headliner. It has tilt wheel, power steering, power brakes, and new CD player with mp3 hookup, new interior lights, glove box and electric windshield wipers, all lights and turn signals work as they should. Brand new auto-meter gages and speedometer, which enhances the interiors cab space. All door felts replaced so the windows fit tight in the track. so no more rattling, new outside door rubbers, as well as windshield and back glass rubbers. All glass is in decent shape with a few scratches and a chip in the windshield. Truck runs and drives extremely well down the highway 60+ mph and gets a lot of attention. A REAL HEAD TURNER!!! I have put a lot of time and money in this truck so please bid to buy. Winning bidder is responsible for shipping arrangements, $500 non-refundable deposit required immediately through pay pal, cashiers check or cash in hand (only) on remaining balance. Check must clear before truck is shipped or picked up. Hot air balloons caught in high winds drag fullsize SUV

Mon, Jul 20 2015

A sudden storm front whipped up enough wind to send some hot air balloons flying into the air in Wisconsin over the weekend. One ballon proved so energetic that it was able to drag a fullsize SUV across a field and into a stand of tents. The freak accident occurred at Balloonfest in Waterford, Wisconsin. Spectators were horrified as balloons dragged handlers to the ground and launched with terrified pilots clinging to their baskets. Organizers had started packing up the colorful balloons due to ominous storm clouds when the wind kicked up. "Happened just like that; it was crazy," Nathan Fricke, crew member, told Fox 6. Winds were clocked at 40 to 50 miles per hour. A balloon caught in the wind dragged a large SUV (we think a Suburban or Yukon XL) hundreds of feet and into a cluster of tents on the edge of the staging area where balloons were on display for festival goers. Considering that the SUV surely weighs well over 5,000 pounds, it's lucky that no one was injured in the incident. News Source: Fox6Now Weird Car News Chevrolet GM GMC SUV

1983 Motorweek showdown pits Porsche 928S vs. Chevy Camaro Z28

Mon, Jan 12 2015

Last month, Motor Trend threw the Camaro Z/28 and Porsche 911 GT3 into the bear pit and let them fight it out. Way back in 1983, MotorWeek had the same idea, comparing the Camaro Z/28 to the Porsche 928S. At the time, the Camaro was America's best selling sports coupe, the 928S was Porsche's top-of-the-line model that also had the highest top speed of any car sold here. And the price differential was even more stark then: $13,600 for the Camaro, $45,000 for the Porsche. That put the Z/28's cast-iron, 5.0-liter V8 with 190 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque against the all-aluminum 4.7-liter V8 with 234 hp and 263 lb-ft in the 928S. Even with that and the Camaro being 14 inches longer than the Porsche, the American was a surprising 40 pounds lighter than the German. The show took them to Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia to see how close a relative performance bargain could hang with a the German GT. Both had five-speed manual transmissions, but the high-speed corners and tight sections of Summit Point would test other handling variables, including the "bone-rattling" Camaro's solid rear axle and disc and drum brake setup vis-a-vis the four-wheel disc brakes and independent suspension on the "firm-but-smooth" Porsche. Paradoxically, the larger disparity 22 years ago resulted in a closer result. Check out the video to see how the Summit was won. 2014 Chevrolet C7 Corvette wastes no time zooming into Jay Leno's Garage

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

Where else would you expect the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to show up first? Although this time it isn't exactly in Jay Leno's Garage, Leno instead playing an away game at Brown's Classic Auto in Scottsdale, Arizona. Nor does Leno drive the car, instead taking an 11-minute walkaround of the new American sports car with General Motors design head Ed Welburn, the same man who recently brought by a string of classic Corvettes to the talk show host's California compound.
It is, admittedly, a love-fest for the American sports car now featuring 450 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, but one that also features admissions about previous Corvette seats like "they were kinda rough," and the explanation that labeling the coupe "Stingray" means not having to call it "the base Corvette." On top of that, Welburn also explains the proper application of the term "dashboard." You can watch it all in the video below.
