Rare 1955 Chevrolet 1/2 ton first series short bed pick-up.
I’m listing this truck for a friend; he drives this truck everyday as his daily driver. 1955 first series are very rare, they have a 1 piece windshield from the factory, they have open drive-line rear axle, and a unique bed with flat top rails and raised/embossed bed sides.
This truck is a nice driver with a modern 292 inline Chevrolet 6cyl, an S-10 5 speed transmission, and the original rear-end. The Truck has a “Sids” (http://www.droppedaxles.com)
4” dropped front axle with new Kingpins, new tapered tie-rod ends, a new tie rod and drag-link, new “Timken” tapered front wheel bearings, new rear brakes including drums, new dual reservoir master cylinder, 4” lowering blocks in the rear, and new exhaust. The truck also has a new 12 volt heater fan motor and 12volt electric 2spd wipers, all the lights work except the dome light (it’s a new dome light just not hooked up). All the gauges work except the fuel gauge, and the truck also has an all new 12 volt wiring harness. The heater core has not been hooked up as of yet. The truck has 225/70/16 tires on 16” steel wheels; it has an original rare blade rear bumper also. This truck has the indent in the L-rear fender for the spare but a non-spare tire L-fender is included with the truck.
The truck appears to have some old “bondo” in the cab corners and some rust in the L-front cab corner. The fenders and doors are very solid as is the bed. The driver side window needs installed and the passenger wing window is cracked. This truck is an un-restored nice truck with nice patina that can be driven daily as is or you could paint it and make it your own, but all the mechanicals on the truck are in great shape.
This truck is currently a daily driver and will cruise at 65-70 all day and gets around 19-20 miles per gallon.
The owner is only selling the truck because he has to replace his shop roof.
The reserve is 5,000.00 I think that is more than fair for a solid driver, which needs nothing to be enjoyed as is. Good luck and bid to own. The owner would like a cashier’s check or cash in person for the truck. The truck must be paid for before it is shipped
Good luck and thank you for looking at my item.
Please check my other auctions often as I’m cleaning out my shop with 25+ years of accumulation. I will also be selling more cars and project cars.
Due to the fact that this is a 50+ year old used truck and I can not control how it will be used by the new owner there is no warranty or returns. This truck is sold as-is. What I have listed and what you see on the truck in the pictures is what I have and what you get.
I will need a $500.00 non-refundable deposit within 48hrs of sale, and then balance must be paid in full within 10 days of end of auction. If not paid within 10 days the truck will be re-listed and deposit not returned. (I will work with you if there is a good excuse. I will not lower price though). I will not charge storage on the truck, if the truck is paid for it can be stored at my home for awhile (1 or 2 months, not a year) until shipping is arranged.
I will not arrange shipping for the truck that is up to you the buyer but I will work with you and your shipper in any way I can.

Chevy might've pulled out of NASCAR if it weren't for new Gen 6 car
Wed, 20 Feb 2013We've been on the fence with NASCAR for some time now. On one hand, it's some of the closest racing anywhere in motorsports, with actual passing and door-handle-to-door-handle action as a matter of course. But on the other, it's become template racing - a personality-driven sport more about the drivers than any sort of loyalty to a particular automaker. The Car Of Tomorrow format really rammed that message home, with a racecar's identity coming down to little more than headlamp stickers slapped on the nose. That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but we've wondered for some time what's in it for the automakers, who pay big money to stay in a series that has had little increasingly little do with street car sales, let alone innovation.
Apparently General Motors was beginning to wonder the same thing. In a new ESPN report, Rick Hendrick, team owner of Hendrick Motorsports, suggests that GM would have seriously considered leaving NASCAR if it wasn't for the move away from the COT to the new Gen 6 racer. According to Hendrick, GM North America boss Mark Reuss spearheaded the charge away from the 2007 COT and toward a racecar with clearer automaker ties - cars like the new Chevrolet SS racer shown above. Learn more about the fight for a closer-to-production look in the ESPN story at the link.
Now, if we could just get more rear-wheel drive V8 coupes into showrooms....
Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels
Thu, 24 Jan 2013The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
NHTSA approves hybrid rearview mirror display in Cadillac CT6, Bolt EV
Tue, Feb 23 2016The Chevy Bolt EV prototype doesn't just have a fancy new all-electric powertrain. Just outside the driver's line of sight is a newfangled rearview mirror, one that can turn into a screen that shows a moving image from the rear-facing camera. Speaking to NPR's Robert Siegel yesterday, Department of Transportation secretary Anthony Foxx said that NHTSA has now approved this type of mirror/screen for use in vehicles. According to a letter from NHTSA to General Motors, GM will likely use this Full Display Mirror first in the 2016 Cadillac CT6 before coming to the Bolt. In its letter to GM, NHTSA said that the Full Display Mirror will only qualify as a standard rearview mirror as long as there are normal side mirrors in place. In other words, don't expect to see cameras and screens replacing all the mirrors in a motor vehicle just yet. @AutoblogGreen @NPR - #NHTSA has OK'd GM rear-view system that can switch between mirror & camera views. pic.twitter.com/6CBeIit10v — Anthony Foxx (@SecretaryFoxx) February 22, 2016 The Full Display Mirror was developed by Gentex, which has long worked with GM. The FDM debuted in 2014 and some people hoped it would also make its way into the Tesla Model X. Gentex, which also makes auto-dimming mirrors, says that it has "set out to develop the technologies and core competencies necessary to manage this evolution of the rearview mirror." The Chevy Bolt EV will start at $37,500, before incentives. The 200-mile EV will go into production late this year for likely sale in early 2017. Related Video:
