1954 Chevy 6400 5-window 2-ton Farm Truck on 2040-cars
West Linn, Oregon, United States
1954 Chevrolet 6400 2-ton Flatbed with operating PTO tilt--dump truck. Possibly Chevrolet's best engine ever made--JobMaster 261 cubic inch 6-cylinder (see article by Jim Carter at jimcartertruckparts/Articles/261-Engine.) 4-speed transmission with 2-speed rear differential, dual-suspension. 5-window cab with original green paint. The 13' 3" flat bed is a dump bed, which was built in Portland for the new truck and is heavy duty solid. This truck is an eastern Oregon Farm Truck where there is almost no humidity so none to very little rust. The truck was still running on the farm. Since I bought it, I have it stored under cover and really enjoyed working on it. I spent a lot of time cleaning it up, then removed the head and had it inspected--passed inspection at local machine shop. I had new valves installed, and then rebuilt the carburetor, new battery, new coil, wires, cap, rotor, plugs, etc. The 261 starts every time and the truck drives--I drove it around the block. PTO operated and tilts the bed. Brake system is complete with hydro-vac. Master cylinder is rebuilt, but system needs to be bled and inspected for operation. Front pads are thin, but rear pads are thick. The Hand brake has drum on driveshaft, which is functional. Body is complete and in great shape. A dent on the back of the cab against the flatbed and the doors need to be adjusted to close properly. no holes in the floor boards and no visible rust at the bottom corners All windows are fine except both door windows. The windshield, back window and curved windows are all good.
Moving and prefer not to store it outside, so someone can continue the project. I have the shop manual and parts are relatively easy to get, as well as friendly advice. This is a great year and great truck. $200 deposit within 24 hours and full payment within 7 days. I will work with you on transportation/shipping arrangements. |

Chevy Corvette Stingray "colorizer" lets you chase the rainbow
Thu, 14 Feb 2013After you've convinced your better half to let you buy a new Corvette, then comes the hard part... actually figuring out which 'Vette you want. While Chevrolet has yet to release the official configurator for the 2014 Corvette Stingray, it did give us something else to kill some time playing around with.
The C7 Corvette "colorizer" recently went online, and it lets you look at the car in all of its available colors and wheel options from four different angles so that when this car does go on sale, you know exactly which one you want. It includes the Corvette's full pallet of colors including Torch Red, Laguna Blue and the hue you see above, Velocity Yellow. Toss in the black wheels, and we're sold. If you have some time this afternoon, be sure to check it out the Corvette colorizer for yourself, and even if you don't have the time, we've put together a gallery with all of the possible color combinations.

MotorWeek looks back at 1995 Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon
Sat, Jun 20 2015MotorWeek's Retro Review series gives us a nostalgic look back at some of the best sports cars and luxury sedans available in the 1980s and '90s. For its latest clip, the show shifts gears to remember the 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon. Similar to the success of crossovers today, SUVs were tallying big sales and making big money for automakers in the mid-'90s. The Tahoe and Yukon filled slots in the market as steps down from the larger Suburban. These twins weren't wanting for space, though, with plenty of room to haul around a family. MotorWeek came away generally impressed too, and called the models some "of the better riding sport utilities we've ever experienced." This review comes with some jazzy, electric guitar licks to enjoy in the background.
