1953 Chevrolet 3100.. 1953 CHEVY 3100 Deluxe Half-Ton Pickup with Five Window Option. The truck is Deep Burgundy with a Gray interior. This rare Classic Pickup underwent an Off-Frame Restoration, six years ago by the experienced car restorer I bought the truck from, including the exterior, interior, chrome, bed & mechanics. He installed a newly rebuilt 6-cylinder 235 cubic inch displacement engine which has only 1100 miles on it (new speedometer shows 610 miles driven). It has a 3 speed "3 on the tree" transmission, chrome valve and air filter covers, manual choke, amber fog lamps, parking lights, working vent windows, floor mats, full instrumentation, owners manual, floor mounted step button starter, new dual side view chrome exterior mirrors, turn signals, polished aluminum heavy duty “Bow Tie” step plates on the running boards which match the sculpted “Bow Tie” polished aluminum heavy duty bed, 4 whitewall All-Season Steel Belted Radial Tires with lots of tread left and filled with nitrogen. In addition the truck has a fully carpeted cab, silver-grey front & rear bumpers and grill, dual rear tail lights and a “Chevrolet” scripted rear tailgate. The electric system is upgraded to 12-Volts for improved power and reliability. In the past year I rebuilt the carburetor, installed a new fuel pump and sending unit, flushed and cleaned the fuel lines, rebuilt the brakes and master cylinder including the parking brake, tightened and replaced the steering king pins and tie rod ends, replaced the outer tie rod ends and repacked and adjusted the front wheel bearings, replaced all shocks, rebuilt the cab heating system and installed new door Hardware and window risers. In September 2012 the distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, wires, points and condenser were replaced. The truck has been garaged and protected from the elements. The truck also has optional fender skirts that can be added to give the rear wheels an“extra touch of class.” The three-owner truck is of Collector Quality Restored Classic Condition. It starts readily, runs strong and shifts well. Note: The manual throttle has been disconnected and the horn is activated by a lever under the steering wheel. Please review the photos carefully to view the condition of the body finish. You may contact me at: rudolph912@gmail.com and I will provide you will my phone number at that time for any additional information. Note that the buyer is responsible for shipping and handling of this vehicle. |

GM already raising prices on 2014 Silverado and Sierra pickups
Mon, 14 Oct 2013General Motors must be pretty pleased with sales of its two newest pickups, the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado, as it's announced price hikes for both models, as part of a planned price tweak.
Prices will be bumped by as much as $1,500, although weirdly, they'll be offset by as much as $1,500 in cash-back offers through the end of October. Fox Business reports that GM spokesman Jim Cain said of the price hike, "With the sell down of the '13 models nearly complete, this price adjustment was planned and is a normal part of business."
The move, as Fox is quick to point out, is an interesting one, as sales of the twin pickups struggled last month relative to the Ford F-Series, while both of GM's crosstown competitors have been aggressively undercutting Silverado and Sierra prices. The F-150 starts at $24,070 and the Ram 1500 comes in at $23,600, not counting any cash on the hood. A base Silverado, meanwhile, retails at $25,575.
Chevy Volt owners log half a billion electric miles, 2015 production starts
Thu, Jun 19 2014As General Motors gets ready to start 2015 Volt production Monday, Chevrolet is looking back at some of the numbers that got the car to where it is today. The headline number is that Volt owners have collectively put more than a half-billion electric miles on their cars. The unsurprising upshot is that, if you went out and bought a Volt, you're pretty keen on getting as many electric miles out of it as possible. 90 percent of all Volt trips are done purely on electric power. The typical Volt driver goes 970 miles between fill-ups, GM says, and that means that 63 percent of all miles are done on battery power. General Motors executive director Larry Nitz gave AutoblogGreen a few more details on the usage habits of Volt drivers, including that 81 percent of commuting miles are electric. Two-thirds of US Volt drivers charge their vehicle 1.4 times a day, a clear indicator of drivers trying to maximize electric miles through opportunity charging. In fact, Nitz said, 90 percent of all Volt trips are done purely on electric power. GM also says that the Volt's official 35 miles of electric range is still doable for many owners who have had their car for more than 30 months. Looking ahead, we know that one upgrade for the 2015 Volt will be 4G LTE connectivity that can turn the car, like others in the GM family, into a mobile wifi hotspot. We're of course much more interested in when GM is finally going to start production of the next-gen Volt, but GM officials would only tell us that they're very excited about the still-secret vehicle, promising we'll be learning more "soon." Nitz did confirm that today's Volt drivers are most interested in three things from the next-gen model: more range, a lower price and a fifth seat. He did not say whether or not GM will be able to deliver on those requests. Chevrolet Volt Owners Surpass Half a Billion Electric Miles After 30 months of use, a sampling of Volts shows consistent all-electric range 2014-06-19 DETROIT – Since its launch in late 2010, Chevrolet Volt owners have accumulated more than half a billion all-electric miles. Additionally, based on a General Motors' study of more than 300 Volts in service in California for more than 30 months, many owners are exceeding the EPA-rated label of 35 miles of EV range per full charge, with about 15 percent surpassing 40 miles of range.
How real is the Chevy Bolt EV and will it really cost $30,000?
Tue, Jan 13 2015"This is us bragging that we can do this kind of car." That's how Michael Simcoe, GM's executive director for NA exteriors, described the Chevy Bolt EV concept, which made a surprise appearance at the Detroit Auto Show today. While there was talk of a 2017 production debut, this is for sure a concept vehicle. But that means the ideas behind the vehicle are perhaps more important than the details. For example, no one is talking about what size battery might appear in a production Bolt, but Simcoe would talk about how rapid progress in battery improvements made it possible for GM to make the bold Bolt declaration that promises 200 miles and a price tag of around $30,000 (after incentives). But if the Bolt makes it to market, it won't be until 2017 (as rumored) or later, is it really fair to promote the car as being available with a federal tax credit? For one thing, credits for plug-in vehicles may change in the next few years, but if the laws stay the same, each manufacturer is limited to 200,000 vehicles before the credits start to decline. GM is justifiably proud that it's sold over 70,000 Volts thus far, but with a new model coming out later this year and a few years to go until the Bolt potentially arrives, GM could be pushing right up against that 200,000 limit when the Bolt goes on sale. But Volt executive chief engineer Pam Fletcher told AutoblogGreen that, "We're just trying to take some of the confusion out." "Think about talking to the average consumer," she said. "First, going through the explanation of how the federal tax credit was set up, how it's being used and so on. [In the industry, we] have the luxury of understanding the nuances of that regulation, but right now people who aren't in the marketplace, they don't have the luxury of all that. It's already hard to communicate the details so we gave them data in a way that is what they're used to seeing." There was one question that drove the two-year Bolt gestation and design period, Simcoe said: What does a better battery offer a vehicle designer? "We've got a number of spaces we play in for powertrain technology and obviously electrification is one of them," he said. "With Volt 1 and then the Spark EV, with that development and batteries getting better for us, we started doing some practical packaging to deliver a vehicle which was not the traditional aero form which you see around electric vehicles.
