This is my 1952 Chevy truck project. It is a nearly complete truck minus the rear fenders, bed rails, and probably a couple other little things I can't think of at the moment. While its not much to look at as it sits, it does come with a near perfect 1949 5-window deluxe cab.
1949 Cab (truly the highlight of the sale)
The '49 cab has been soda blasted and bead blasted down to bare metal on 90% of the cab. It has a few small pin holes and a small hole (3" or so) in the passenger side cab corner that was cut out by previous owner to run a farm implement. The outer cowls may need some attention as they are dented a little but this is one of the best condition all-original truck cabs that I have ever seen. The photos show the condition pretty well. I do have some glass but to be honest its not in that great of shape and will likely need replaced. I don't have the stainless trim from the cab, the previous owner kept that. The floors of the cab are pretty solid with only one or two small pinholes. The seat that is in the '52 will go with OR I have a set of bare springs that could be swapped. Your call.
1952 Truck (work in progress....)
This truck came from MN and I do have a clear title for it. I have done next to nothing to the cab or body except remove some bondo that was used to fill the body lines. The cab is in salvageable condition though it would be less work to use the 1949 cab. Most of what I have done is to the motor which is a 235 inline 6 and the tranny which is a 4 speed (original to the truck I believe). Most of the technical elements to what I'm about to describe I paid professionals to do. I just installed it, set the timing, rebuilt the distributor, installed a new clutch, master cylinder, brake job, and connected enough electrical to get it running. It does have decent tread on the tires too which are on the original wheels!
-Re-planed the flywheel
-Rebuilt the starter so that it will run on 12V
-boiled out and repaired the radiator
-installed new master cylinder
-installed new brake lines and fluid
-rebuilt the distributor, new points, wires, coil, plugs, cap, etc.
-installed the gas tank and put in a new sending unit
-ran the gas line
-rebuilt the carb
-set the timing
-and probably a bunch more I can't think of...
It does run, drive, and stop but is far from street legal. All the important stuff that takes a little mystery out of the purchase. Note that I have not started it since last summer but it has been sitting with actual antifreeze in it through the winter NOT water. Spray some gas in the carb, get a good charge on the battery, and it should fire up.
This is a project and could be an awesome father/son project. I just don't have time for it anymore (starting back with the school thing). The truck is in Champaign, IL. I now live in Bloomington, IL. It is possible I might be able to deliver a short distance for a negotiated amount but it would likely be two trips with the cab and the truck. The cab is currently on a pallet with casters and moves fairly easy. With a winch, you could probably pull it on to a trailer. Another option might be to put the cab on the bed of the truck and strap it down.
Extras
It comes with everything in the pictures except the greenish doors that are on it. It comes with the reddish doors that have the vent windows. The green doors go to another project.
-Gauges (in ok condition)
-a heater core that I'm not sure works...?...I might have an extra, I'll check.
-nearly 2 sets of interior trim (in ok condition)
-bed sides (in ok condition)
-bed front (in ok condition)
-bed tailgate (in poor condition)
-a couple other bed pieces (in ok condition)
-and a bunch more stuff that is in pics....I'll see what else I can find as I think of things but I'm pretty sure I got nearly everything I have together...
If you have any questions, please feel free to call me 708-738-4387 between the hours of 5 and 7 pm central time. If you call outside of those hours I might not answer (and probably won't...you know, the whole work thing combined with school :)
The truck is listed locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early. If you want to make me an offer I CAN'T refuse, give a call and we can talk. I've got well over $4k invested probably over $5 at this point so I am putting a reserve on the auction. I think it is a reasonable price. Keep in mind that I've had offers of $1,700 for the cab by itself. It is what makes this package so I will not split items up at this time (and probably won't in the future).
Truck is sold as is with NO warranties expressed or implied. This is a project truck with a lot of potential. It can be picked up in Champaign, IL.

2014 Chevy Cruze Diesel arrives with 42 mpg for $25,695*
Thu, 07 Feb 2013The last time General Motors had a diesel passenger car in the US, it was the 1.8-liter 1986 Chevette. At the 2013 Chicago Auto Show today, GM is unveiling the much-anticipated 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel. The compact bows with a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine that boasts 148 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, with full twist coming on at just 2,000 rpm. What's more, the common-rail, direct-injection diesel features an overboost function that allows the engine to deliver up to 280 lb-ft of torque for 10 seconds at a time. Even with 10 more horsepower and 110 more pound-feet of torque than the available turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder in the Cruze, the 2.0-liter diesel engine can return up to 42 mpg (highway) bolted to its six-speed automatic transmission.
If you're counting, that figure meets the less powerful Cruze Eco with a six-speed manual transmission. More importantly, the auto transmission Cruze Diesel matches its main competition, the Volkswagen Jetta TDI, in highway fuel economy. The Cruze 2.0 TD (as it will be badged) can also handle up to 20 percent biodiesel (B20), whereas the Jetta is rated only for B5. General Motors has not released city fuel economy for its newest diesel, but we do know how much it will cost you to jump behind the driver's seat.
GM will kindly ask for $25,695, plus an $810 destination fee. That marks a $2,115 premium over a loaded Cruze LTZ Auto and $2,640 more than the Jetta TDI, though the MSRP will net you a leather interior, 17-inch alloy wheels and an Aero Performance Package, as well as a two-year maintenance plan and five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. Compared to the gas-powered Cruze, you also lose a couple cubic feet of rear cargo space thanks to a 17-liter diesel emission fluid tank. That urea fluid, which helps put the clean in clean diesel, will need to be refilled at least every 10,000 miles.
GM recalls 330,000 fullsize trucks for airbag replacement
Sun, May 31 2015General Motors has announced a recall of 330,198 fullsize pickups in the US in the aftermath of the announcement made on May 19 that doubled the number of vehicles being called in to replace Takata's defective airbag inflators. That announcement expanded the nationwide recall to an estimated 33.8 million vehicles in the US. Heavy Duty versions of the 2007 and 2008 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra are included in GM's move, for the purpose of replacing the passenger airbag inflators. The announcement made by the National Highway Traffic Safety Association cited long-term exposure to moisture as a possible cause of the inflator issues. GM says it isn't aware of any problems with the recalled pickups due to moisture, nor has it had any reports of crashes, injuries, or fatalities, and has not received any complaints. GM will notify owners, who can then take their trucks to the dealers to have them repaired free of charge. You'll find a statement from GM and the recall notice from NHTSA below. GM is not aware of any humidity-related ruptures in Takata air bag inflators in any GM-badged vehicles in the field and knows of no crashes, injuries, fatalities or complaints regarding air bag performance in these vehicles. GM adds 1,200 jobs at Detroit-Hamtramck plant
Thu, Oct 22 2015General Motors is making a big move at its Hamtramck, MI, factory, announcing it will add a second shift and hire over 1,200 workers within the next several months. It's expected that by early 2016, the factory will employ over 2,800 workers to build the Chevrolet Volt, Impala, Malibu, Cadillac ELR, and by early next year, the new CT6. According to GM Hamtramck spokesperson Courtney Zemke, 40 of the 1,200 positions are for salaried employees, while the remainder will be hourly positions. As for where these employees will go, positions are being made available across the factory, so GM isn't focusing on any particular area for its new hires. It's a similar story behind the hiring surge itself. GM said in its press release that the "second shift is necessary to meet forecasted market demand," a position Zemke reiterated. It's a matter of demand across the plant's portfolio, rather than any one particular product seriously outstripping supply. Naturally, the United Auto Workers is happy with the move. "The workforce at Detroit-Hamtramck is second to none," UAW Local 22 Shop Chairman Don LaForest said in the attached release. "We appreciate the opportunity to expand our UAW-GM family." Hiring is going on now, with the second shift slated to get underway in early 2016. GM's Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly to Add Second Shift and More Than 1,200 Jobs Plant will nearly double its workforce by early 2016 2015-10-22 DETROIT – General Motors is nearly doubling its workforce at Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly by adding a second shift and more than 1,200 hourly and salaried jobs. The addition of a second shift will increase the plant's workforce to approximately 2,800 people when hiring is completed. The second shift is necessary to meet forecasted market demand for the five cars produced at Detroit-Hamtramck. "This is the result of the award-winning vehicles Detroit-Hamtramck produces and the confidence GM has in our team to build world-class quality for our customers," said Plant Manager Gary West. Second shift hiring is underway, and the shift is scheduled to begin operations in early 2016. "The workforce at Detroit-Hamtramck is second to none," said UAW Local 22 Shop Chairman Don LaForest. "We appreciate the opportunity to expand our UAW-GM family." The 4.1 million-square-foot Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly opened in 1985. GM has invested $1 billion in the plant over the last six years, making it one of the company's most-agile manufacturing facilities in North America.
