This truck is brought to you by Low ~N~ Bitchin.  You won't find another one like it!  The truck was completed 8 months ago.  During the last 8 months, all the debugging has been worked out.  We just made two round trips to Charlotte, NC this past weekend without any problems.  The engine is a 350 LT1 out of a '92 Corvette.  Transmission is a 4L60E.  The motor and transmission have been gone through.  All new accessories include:  alternator, starter, and AC compressor.  New Champion aluminum radiator, ceramic coated Headman headers, and all new glass, weather stripping and rubber.  The shifter is a new American shifter.  The truck has new (real) ZO6 wheels not some cheap knock offs.  All gauges are new and auto meter quad series.  The truck has all new wiring and HID headlights.

Living in the south, this truck has all the expected items for comfort, including air conditioning by Southern Rods, a Kenwood stereo with USB and iPod compatibility with BOSE speakers, power windows and brakes, as well as 6 way power leather seats.

Custom touches include:  firewall smooth and filled, exhaust and running boards, smooth dash, roll pan, gas door in rear fender, 100 year old wood in bed, Lizard skin on bottom of truck, all interior doors, firewall, and roof sound deadening material.  The roll pan has '70 Camaro taillights.  Turn signals and parking lights have all been reworked to accept modern bulbs.

The body is what you see is what you get.  Both corners have been replaced and truck is solid throughout.  This is a well engineered vehicle to be driven daily and enjoyed and not some cobbled together S10.

Buyer is responsible for shipping costs.  Anyone less than 10 feed backs needs to contact me personally before bidding.  Truck is for sale locally.  I reserve the right to end it at any time.  Contact me between 6-10 pm EST at 864-879-2614

Surprise! GM putting aluminum in next-gen pickups

Wed, Aug 5 2015

Last month, General Motors launched a series of ads touting the benefits of steel over aluminum – specifically, with regard to the Chevy Silverado versus the Ford F-150. (Kind of. We're not sure what a grizzly bear has to do with anything.) We took issue with the ads, with editor in chief Mike Austin saying they "reek of insecurity, and distract from the Silverado's strengths that could be used for positive advertising." But what bothers us more, is that yet another report surfaced claiming anti-aluminum GM will indeed use the weight-saving material in its next-generation fullsize trucks. On Tuesday, GM announced a $877-million investment for its truck plant in Flint, MI. But Reuters says that huge overhaul is because the trucks will use "substantially different equipment than the tools GM uses today." The report specifically states, "People familiar with the company's plans say GM's next-generation pickups and SUVs will make use of various materials, including aluminum and lightweight steel, to shed weight and gain fuel efficiency to meet tougher federal standards." The Silverado already uses a few aluminum components in the engine and hood, and if more widespread use will help GM build its best fullsize trucks ever, then that's great. Honestly, we have no reason to doubt that aluminum will be used in the next Silverado and GMC Sierra. We just hope GM remembers that nothing is ever truly deleted from the bowels of the Internet when it launches the subsequent "look how great aluminum is!" campaign. GM profits threatened by glut of pickups

Wed, 05 Dec 2012

Automotive News reports that General Motors may slash production or ramp up discounts in order to deal with an oversupply of pickup trucks. GM currently has more than double the standard supply of pickups, and the vehicles are threatening to dampen the automaker's profits for 2013. Typically, automakers try to sustain a 60- to 75-day supply of vehicles, but GM is currently loaded with a 139-day supply, as of last month. At the end of November, the automaker was sitting on 245,853 units.
The manufacturer says that it will adjust production accordingly before laying any incentives on the profitable pickups. Even so, there's some concern that the inventory swell could hurt the roll-out of the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. GM actually began slowly stepping back production in August, but it's clear the company will take further action as it heads toward the end of the year and into the next. Analysts predict the automaker could reduce pickup manufacturing by nearly half in the first quarter of 2013.
That still may not be enough to keep GM from laying extra cash on the Silverado and GMC Sierra. While the company's incentive spending was down in November compared to the same month in 2011, both the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150 saw double-digit percentage increases in sales last month while the Silverado and Sierra numbers slid compared to a year prior. Incentive spending could help move more trucks and add some balance to the GM inventory surge.

2014 Chevrolet Silverado tows in new configurator, microsite

Mon, 21 Jan 2013

Judging by your continued enthusiastic response to configurator notices, dear reader, you enjoy speccing out new cars as much as we do. Better still, there tends to be even more ways to personalize, configure and bloat theoretical MSRPs on full-size trucks as there are with more ordinary passenger cars. In addition to trim level, engine and transmission choices, truck buyers usually have to specify items like cab configuration, bed length, number of driven axles, tow packages, gear ratios and all sorts of bits and bobs.
That's why we're pleased to see the DIY specification utility for the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado come alive so soon after this week's Detroit Auto Show debut. While the configurator lacks pricing (General Motors hasn't announced numbers yet) and full options, you can still spec out your half-ton rig, and even print it out or email it to your friends. Beyond the configurator, the new model-specific site is pretty cool, too, with various videos and closer looks at the truck's new features.
The new Chevrolet pickup range won't be on dealer lots until sometime this summer, so whether you're a building contractor, an avid sportsman or just a guy or gal that loves full-size trucks, you might want to check out the link below to keep your appetite whetted. If you're more of a Sierra fan, well, it looks like you're going to have to wait a while - GMC hasn't updated its site yet.
