1949 Chevrolet 3100 deluxe pickup 5 window

Clean rust free well cared for CA Chevy 5 window pickup!  This truck has only had 3 owners and had a body off restoration several years ago with its 2nd owner.  Was completely disassembled and painted flat black with a couple coats of primer underneath.  Has held up well but faded in a few areas and does have some small chipping particularly on the right front fender (you can see in the pics).  It has brand new chrome bumpers and new chrome emblems and new mirrors all around.  It has a nicely installed plywood bed painted to match.  Overall its in very decent shape and can be left alone as a cool everyday driver or ratrod type weekend cruiser.  It has all its original metal everywhere, all original fenders, cab corners, bed walls and even the original tailgate - this is an all original completely rust free CA truck!  Check out the pic of the floor under the matt, its like new!!

The interior is pretty much all original (including the deluxe trim on the doors) or original type replacement parts.  It has the original and in really good shape heater core under the dash (you can see it in the pics).  Refurbished speedo cluster, refurbished gauges cluster, both with nice chrome bezels.  Good glass all around with new windshields and rubber.  New choke and throttle cables and new dash panels including chrome glove box.  New chrome exterior door handles and window channels, new interior door handles and window crank handles.  All new inner cab rubber seals and new door rubber seals.  New rubber floor matt and new rubber pedals.  The seat is in very good condition with a vinyl cover and a nice ratrod inspired blanket to sit on and keep you warm.

The truck runs amazing and starts right up, the 235ci engine and 4 speed tranny were rebuilt 2 years ago and have hardly any miles.  Was converted to 12v system.  The entire brake system was replaced with all new components.  Has all new wiring and lighting components (headlights including bezels and trim rims, tail lights, turn signals).  Has a new radiator and new alternator and new battery.  Everything works.  The gas gauge and the wipers are not connected.  The brakes work well and stop the truck as they should.  It tracks straight and does not wobble at all.  The truck rides on brand new General 600-16 white walls wrapped around just powder coated orignal red chevy truck rims and original chrome center caps with matching red Chevrolet in the center.

Again, the entire truck was restored several years ago, it was disassembled and primered and painted flat black and then assembled again, so the interior and exterior and under the truck and under the hood all have the same uniform look.  This truck is a great candidate for ANYTHING - you can leave it alone and use it as a daily driver or weekend cruiser as is with no problems and is very drivable and easy to use.  You can lower it and make it that cool ratrod that its begging to become.  This truck would also make a great candidate for an all original type of restoration having all original components including the very desirable and difficult to find orignal 16" rims.  Or you can modify it and make it into any hotrod or anything you want including whatever paint job you desire, it is a straight rust free honest original clean canvas you can take in whatever direction you like.

NOTE:  I can assist with any work you would like done that I mentioned above.  We can just add the price to the selling price and I can have the work done immediately.
Examples would be;
- If you want a brand new wood bed kit with stainless rails installed add to the sale price $1000
- If you want the truck lowered professionally add to sale price $1500
- If you want the truck painted super nice quality ($12-15k level paint job) add to the sale price $7500

If you want pin-stripping or a V8 motor and auto tranny installed, I can have that done professionally - anything you want to do I can assist.  Please look at my previous auctions for examples or email me for pics and info.

Please feel free to call me with any questions, thanks!

Mother's Day Suggestion No. 2,506

Thu, 02 May 2013

With Mother's Day coming up, we're always looking for new gift ideas to celebrate the occasion, but hot laps around a track might not be the best suggestion for Darius Khashabi. In a video posted on YouTube, Khashabi straps his mom into the passenger seat of his C6 Corvette Z06 for some laps around Sonoma Raceway (formerly Infineon Raceway) at "60 percent" with comical results.
Now this isn't the first time Mama Khashabi has gotten seat time in her son's car around a track, as his YouTube page shows him pulling a similar stunt - with similar results - around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca last year. Scroll down for the video, but know that the action really gets going at around the 1:40 mark.

Chevy Volt 'acceptable,' Nissan Leaf 'poor' in new IIHS safety tests

Thu, Jul 31 2014

Ford C-Max Hybrid also scored "acceptable" rating. With US Nissan Leaf sales up almost 30 percent during the first half of the year, the only thing that might be able to stop the battery-electric vehicle is a good, stiff barrier. Unfortunately, thing's aren't always pretty when that happens in the real world, according to new tests from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Things with the Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in are a little bit rosier, though. The two plug-in vehicles were part of a batch of a dozen vehicles that just went through the IIHS's "small overlap" test, in which the driver's side front corner of the vehicle is crashed into a rigid barrier at 40 miles per hour. Out of the dozen, only the Mini Cooper Countryman was given a "good" rating. Five vehicles, including the Volt and the Ford C-Max Hybrid, were rated "acceptable," two were "marginal" and two, including the Leaf, were "poor." Plug-in vehicles are unique in the crash-test context because of their relatively large battery sizes. In the Volt's case, the driver had a "low risk" of injury, said the IIHS. But the Leaf's crash substantially pushed back the instrument panel and steering column, creating a scenario where the driver was "likely" to sustain leg injuries. The batteries in both the Leaf and the Volt passed safety tests specifically targeted at things like thermo and electrical properties and overall integrity. "Nissan is proud of the Leaf's 'Good' rating in all other IIHS tests, a 4-star NCAP rating from NHTSA and its IIHS Top Safety Pick rating in all previous years since the car's release," the company said in an e-mail sent to AutoblogGreen. "As for the performance of the 2014 Leaf in the 'small overlap frontal test,' Nissan will continue to review these and other results from the IIHS 'small overlap frontal test' as we seek opportunities for improvement." Check out the IIHS's press release and small car crash-test video footage below. Range of ratings: Small car ratings run the gamut in challenging small overlap front test The Mini Cooper Countryman is the only small car to earn a good rating among the latest group of 12 cars subjected to the Institute's small overlap front crash test. Two electric models and a hybrid also are in the mix, with varied results. The electric-powered Chevrolet Volt (with a gasoline engine "range extender") earns an acceptable rating, while its battery-electric rival, the Nissan Leaf, earns a poor rating.

Chevy Trax engineer says GMC version possible

Mon, Dec 8 2014

The Buick Encore is doing so well and its platform-mate the Chevrolet Trax has such good reviewer vibes going for it already, that a GMC version hasn't been ruled out. During the recent press launch, Automotive News asked lead engineer Al Manzor if the Trax could wear a GMC-branded suit, to which Manzor replied, "I think that is certainly possible." That's a long way from telling us anything about the probability of a GMC version of the Trax, and a legion of questions would need to be answered before it could happen. How would a GMC version be priced to leave room for the $26,465 GMC Terrain but not eat into sales of the $20,995 Trax or the $24,035 Encore? Or would that matter? Could it primarily be considered to encourage a new faction of The Yukon Set at the compact end, GMC buyers being famously committed to the marque? And of course, would there be a Denali version? It'll probably be a long while before we have any kind of answers, but if you want to see it happen, the door to your campaign of persuasion is at least ajar.
