1949 3100 5 Window Chevy Gmc Patina Ratrod Ratrod Stepside 1950 1951 1952 1953 on 2040-cars
Burlington, Wisconsin, United States
Selling My pride and joy. This truck was my friends truck and he passed away. Wouldn't be selling, but life gets in the way. This is a 1949 Chevrolet 3100 1/2 ton 5 window cab truck. It has a few personal touches, but mostly original. To start, it has a Chevrolet 350 sbc engine that starts and runs unbelievably well. It is still carbureted. Not sure on the specifics of the engine, but does seem like a small cam installed. He had the engine built by a shop, but have no info on it. The truck was a garage queen. It sat in his garage and was usually only driven on the weekends since the rebuild. It still has the original factory 4 speed manual transmission. The rear tires are 275-60-15 and are like new. The fronts are 195-75-14, and are around 40%. It sits nice with this set up, I was hoping to drop it down just a little. I believe the rear axle was out of a camero, but not positive. It does have the 5 bolt wheel pattern. Never had the chance to look into it yet. They are buick rims on this truck and I will include a spare buick rim also with the sale. It will need brake work. I only drove it a short distance twice, and around the yard. Seems like the master cylinder will need to be replaced and brakes bleed. Yesterday when I drove it out of the barn, the pedal stuck at the floor. A friend told me that's typical of these cause the spring goes bad. I did find the rebuild kit on here for $17.95 plus shipping. The headlights and brake lights work, but not the tail lights. Unfortunately I don't have the time and resources to fix this at the moment. It has a new interior headliner. The door panels were redone in wood, and he made a speaker box between the seats out of wood also. Not the fanciest, but nice touch. This is a stereo delete truck, and is no stereo in it, but I will include one to the winning bidder if you meet my reserve. The seats are very nice bucket seats, maybe out of a camero, and look great and very confortable. The exhaust is dual exhaust with glass packs and in good condition. It will need shocks. The body is a ratrod style. It has its usual Wisconsin rust issues. Someone had done some repairs, but not professionally. I took some pics, so you can see for yourself. From what I can tell, the floors seem fine. It does have outdoor green nylon plastic carpet glued on the floor. Battery is brand new and still located in factory original place below the passenger floor pan. There is wood bolted to the running boards, after looking at them, they are rusted. They also put wood on each side of the bedsides, not sure why but at one point, they put some real time in the staining it all. Unfortunately, time has taken its toll and the clear is pealing off the wood. This truck has always been my dream truck, but fell into my hands in a unfortunate situation. However, it will make someone a awesome fun project to tinker with and make it there own. The truck has a clear title. With a few hours of brake work, this truck can be your driver. Hate to see it go, but hard times have caught up to us. I reserve the right to end the auction early, the truck is for sale locally. The truck is being sold as is where is, and is available to inspect if you contact me. I will not ship, but will try to assist your shipper as much as possible but not guarantied. The buyer takes full responsibility for any and all shipping costs. There are no warranties or guaranties implied. Any questions, please feel free to contact me before bidding. Thanks and good luck. GM isn't liable for punitive damages in ignition switch cases
Wed, Nov 20 2019NEW YORK — A federal appeals court said General Motors is not liable for punitive damages over accidents that occurred after its 2009 bankruptcy and involved vehicles it produced earlier, including vehicles with faulty ignition switches. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said on Tuesday that the automaker did not agree to contractually assume liability for punitive damages as part of its federally-backed Chapter 11 reorganization. GM filed for bankruptcy in June 2009, and its best assets were transferred to a new Detroit-based company with the same name. The other assets and many liabilities stayed with "Old GM," which is also known as Motors Liquidation Co. Tuesday's 3-0 decision may help GM reduce its ultimate exposure in nationwide litigation over defective ignition switches in several Chevrolet, Pontiac and Saturn models. It is also a defeat for drivers involved in post-bankruptcy accidents, including those who collided with older GM vehicles driven by others, as well as their law firms. The ignition switch defect could cause engine stalls and keep airbags from deploying, and has been linked to 124 deaths. A lawyer for the drivers and their law firms did not immediately respond to requests for comment. GM had no comment. Circuit Judge Dennis Jacobs said GM's agreement to acquire assets "free and clear" of most liabilities excused it from punitive damages claims for Old GM's conduct. He also noted that the judge who oversaw the bankruptcy concluded that the new company could not be liable for claims that the "deeply insolvent" Old GM would never have paid. The decision upheld a May 2018 ruling by U.S. District Judge Jesse Furman in Manhattan, who oversees the ignition switch litigation. Drivers have sought a variety of damages in that litigation, including for declining resale values. GM has recalled more than 2.6 million vehicles since 2014 over ignition switch problems. It has also paid more than $2.6 billion in related penalties and settlements, including $900 million to settle a U.S. Department of Justice criminal case. The case is In re: Motors Liquidation Co, 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, No. 18-1940. Government/Legal Chevrolet Pontiac Saturn Safety gm ignition switch

Europeans ask Chevy to bring Volt back to Europe
Fri, Aug 14 2015A group of French fans is asking for a jolt of support from General Motors to get the 2016 Chevrolet Volt across the pond. The Association Amperistes et Amis des Vehicules Rechargeables is running a Change.org petition that currently has 383 signatures out of a goal of 500. While the attempt is admirable, it's probably going to take a lot more than several hundred people for the model to make a return to the continent after the poor showing of the Opel Ampera – first-gen Volt's European cousin. The group's major argument for bringing a version of the second-gen Volt to Europe is that consumers need "an intermediate choice between expensive or range-limited pure electric cars and plug-in hybrids with a miserable electric range." Furthermore, such a vehicle would prod the competition to produce similarly efficient electrified models. They also lavish praise on the abilities of the Ampera for its long EV driving range. The supporters aren't entirely kind to GM in the petition, though, and claim the company excluded the original car from marketing efforts there. The Ampera actually enjoyed a strong European launch with more orders than initially expected and briefly topped the best-sellers list among EVs there. It was even named 2012 European Car of the Year. Those halcyon days didn't last long, and by 2014 sales fell off to a trickle. The waning reception caused GM's decision not to introduce a version of the new 2016 Volt there or in Australia. Related Video:
